From what I understand, the challenge is not becoming a US citizen but rather a permanent resident.

Jury Duty is amazing, my history teacher was out for like a month and a half because she had jury duty for a murder case or something. We didn't do anything for the entire time because the long term sub was like 85 or something. Jury Duty is amazing, they should make teachers do it more
Sadly, in most states, teachers are often let off the hook for jury duty specifically because of their job.
@@emperortransman I’m in California, the teacher specifically told us that they wouldn’t let her reschedule or anything lol
I wish, then I can take a vacation from working with children and instead work with childish adults.
@@andreyokunev9858 I wouldn't be surprised if sometimes states gave teachers jury duty specifically because we can't skip it without risk to our job

That machine gun joke actually hit hard
He's not joking... You legitimately can't own a bald eagle in the US, and you also can own a machine gun, albeit with a lot of exemptions - the machine gun in question must have been manufactured before 1986, you must file a Form IV with the ATF, you must turn over your fingerprints, you must pass an in depth background check, not just the NICS, you must also get the gun transferred through an FFL.
If it didn't, it would just be a submachine gun.

@@pompomaddonsYou can own a machine gun in Afghanistan..but you can’t be gay. So you take the good with the bad I guess 😂

Mike is the best educational law channel out there. No overwhelming voice, no dead memes. Just fun
I agree with you, but idk about the memes. Idc about them being dead or something, it doesnt matter. If the memes are good / they have a point, I am ok with them. This is another social trend, deciding that meme is dead and than theoreticaly "being allowed" do bully others for using "dead" memes.
Even lawyers have to do jury duty? Is that even allowed? 😱
Yes everyone is required to serve
They have to show up when summoned, but they will never let lawyers or even law school students serve because of their legal training. Super secret stuff like Jurry Nullification 😉
A lawyer can be selected for jury duty but they'll most likely be excluded from an actual jury during voir dire.
Lawyers are also citizens 😂
I don't think I will have a Jury duty even tho I was born in American
my mom is an immigrant and she gets summoned for jury duty very often. she's a citizen now, but there were a couple times that she got summoned before she was even a citizen, when she had a green card. she had to go in and tell them that she wasn't actually a citizen and couldn't participate lol
both my parents aren't citizens and the same happens to them too, but thankfully it seems it's easier now, since I can just email the jury office and tell them they're not citizens instead of having to go there. But it's really weird how they put the names of non citizens in the selection pool even though theyre not even allowed to go in the first place

@@kral3046 It can. This has to be done through the embassy in the person's home country. It's not easy, though. If you just drop in on a recruiter as an illegal alien, or are just here on a visitor's visa, I'm pretty sure the recruiter will turn you away.

There are some taxation differences between being a US resident and US citizen, mostly related to Estate taxes
As a child I always wanted to become an american citizen, (I'm german). But after growing up here, seeing the benefits that I have and how easy life can be, in terms of taxing and social justice, which is not perfect, but better, I am happy that I'm not an american. I have a genuine question. This is true for pretty much every country in the world, certain rights can only be enjoyed by citizens of that country. Whatever legal framework or principles that country has. But what about tourists? I'm British and have visited the US many times and because I'm such a good boy, I've not been in trouble. What protections encoded in the US Constitution and its amendments apply to non US citizens whilst visiting the USA?
I was wondering if you could help me with this i live in michigan and i want to get a pair of handcuffs for my collection and i know i cant use them or carry them but can i own them. Thank you
New Mexico lol, that had me laughing
As a Dutch person who will never move to Amerika, here are my reasons:
healthcare, healthcare should be affordable to everyone so no one is scared to go to the doctor ofc it shouldn’t be free but it also shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg.
Infrastructure: the infrastructure in the us is kinda bad (at least form what I have seen) you can’t bike anywhere you want and you can’t walk anywhere you want with a little safety. Here in the Netherlands I can walk and bike wherever I want. I don’t need a car to go to the supermarket I can just walk there in safety.
Guns: ok I get it everyone has the right to bear arms in the us but also in the Swiss, in the Swiss you need to server in the military and go through extensive training to even get a weapon and if you fail to go through that you can go to a shooting range and shoot, the us don’t have all these regulations and that makes me scared that almost every person can shoot when they want without proper training.
Culture: I like tasting diffrent cultures and you don’t get that in the us it’s just a giant piece of land that’s ruled by English and the same style of architecture. Here in Europe if I go over the border it’s another language another foods and just a diffrent feel.
Food safety: i can’t even get most foods from the us into Europe, this is bc Europe has more regulated safety when it comes to food. I’m allergic to most pesticides they use in the us and those same pesticides are banned in Europe.
