- The Moty KE 3000 is a machine that harvests pumpkin seeds. The device positions pumpkins into a straight line then picks them up with a large spiked wheel. Inside the machine, a four-part drum crushes the pumpkins and separates all the seeds for an easy harvest. Moty also sells other pumpkin harvesting machines that can dry and wash the seeds.

What an interesting title for a video that doesn't really answer the question of how the seeds get separated from the pumpkin.
right?! what happens in the machine?!
@Konkreet7 Right? What happenss?!
To the viewers:
From what I've read, the flesh of this particular species of pumpkin isn't viable for human consumption. Tastes horrible. But the seeds are good. The trade off is that it fertilizes the soil for the next crop.
I assumed the pumpkin flesh was used for canned pumpkin pie filling
awe thanks I was wondering
NOTE! The pumpkins they crush are those of reject or undergrowth after the season, they crush them to get the seeds then shoot out the remains as fertilizer for the next batch of crops.
Note, reject can be processed into other things.
There are so many experts in here claiming it's a waste. The same people who never even planted a seed much less seen a farm seems to be the ones to claim they're such experts.
There are some people that quite right sometimes. But in the case here they are wrong.
Thank you very much for this video. It had been my doubt how such a large quantity of pumpkin seeds are produced.
What is the name of the background music?
Q - How Are Pumpkin Seeds Harvested?
A - Using a Moty KE 3000.
WOW! What an Answer.
Wow what a waste
No - it isn’t.
It’s my uneducated guess that if you remove all the pumpkins you’d also be removing a lot of nitrogen, which would have to go back as artificial fertiliser. As wasteful as this appears to be, I think it’s a pretty efficient compared to an alternative when considering the harvest, seeding, and fertilisation is all happening in one step
Re seeding and fertilizing the field the documentary should clarify that
Didn't know we had such a high demand for pumpkin seeds.
I think this video was filmed in Austria 🇦🇹
We eat a lot of pumpkin seeds or we use them to make oil for salads
Very nutritional. A gem of a food.
You learn something new every day 😂
So when is this coming to Farm Simulator?
Never cause it’s been 3 years lmao
If the pumpkins rot on the soil then all of the remaining nutrients get absorbed. So it doesn't really seem thaaaat wasteful.
It must smell amazing!
Seems like a waste
Mind-blowing!
The pumpkin seeds available for purchase here in the UK are always green & with the husk removed. Does anyone know how this is done on a commercial scale? - I cannot derive a seed that looks anything like a shop-sold pumpkin from a real pumpkin!
I want to know too 👀
Oilseed pumpkins
Did it cut the vine too?
I don't even eat pumpkin
Same
So?
So...Nothing
Dammit
That just looks unbelievably wasteful.
Michael Wade Thats probably a variety of pumpking specially designed for its seed only. I dont think it requires the same amount of time and water as the kind you eat
and it gives soil the pumpkin back so that it can be used again(ıdk the term in english)
Nicolás Who says humans can't eat it? Pretty sure it's pumpkin... unless you believe science made things super gross tasting to humans but somehow not for animals or that it is SO gross that even animals won't eat it and only the seeds are good? That's not really how it works. Nobody in America eats pumpkins....but they eat pumpkin seeds. It's most definitely a waste.
But enjoy your trail mix that has all of 5 pumpkin seeds in it.... now that you've seen this ridiculous waste of food.
Berk Altun composting*
I like the music! Can someone tell me who's playing?
Wow learn something new. Thank for for providing a succinct video. True Elements raw pumpkin seeds for my healthy diet. You should also try.
Going by what I see in the comments, I can tell I'm not the only one who finds harvesting seeds this way to be incredibly wasteful. That pumpkin can go to feed a lot of people. There must be a less wasteful way to do this at the commercial scale.
Scarlet Letter there are varieties of pumpkin that are specifically grown for their seeds, not the flesh. Plus the pumpkin flesh can be used for compost as it isn’t the typical texture we’re used to eating.
Tyler kay I would love to what those varieties are. I wouldn't trying the flesh of these types to compare with pumpkin grown for flesh. As far as the seeds from either are concerned, I've had the chance to try them both (There aren't but so many reasons to farm pumpkin seeds, production of snacks being one of them) and found no noticeable difference between the two. As far as I can tell, there just isn't really any practical justification for wasting this much food.
Scarlet Letter the left over pumpkin rotted and makes nutrients for more pumpkins
Think of it as enriching the soil so it's not exhausted. It speeds up crop rotation ensuring there will always be pumpkin seeds. If they didn't do this you would exhaust the soil of nutrients in the 3rd year. It wouldn't grow anything for years. It's recycling ala mother nature.
Christopher Peninger i like you. You are quite informed with how soil work.
really good engineering
Pumpkin about to be harvested: My ancestors are smiling at me imperials, can you say the same?
I eat pumpkin seeds all the time. Good to know.
So what about the pulp?
so what your saying is their was one type of pumpkin that is used for pies then the seeds were sold as a byproduct. then Monsanto genetically modified the pumpkin to have no seeds but the seed sellers were with out seeds. so Monsanto genetically modified the pumpkin to have lot's of seeds but is not for food. maybe one day Monsanto research labs will be able to create a pumpkin that produces seeds and that is edible, I bet that model would be expensive but worth it.
Did anybody ever figure out the name of the song?
Hatssofff to tech
What is this music?
I guess this is some kinds of pumpkin for seeds harvesting.
I am sure theres a more efficient way to do that ..... all of that wastage is pretty hard to watch.
H S lol
You can't extract the seed without opening it up and in the process destroying the pumpkin. It's going to be in pieces. No one is going to buy that.
If you want to extract it cleanly without destroying the pumpkin, you would have to do it by hand which would be incredibly inefficient, expensive, and not viable.
It probably makes good fertilizer for the next batch they plant.
Allot of pumpkin pies on the ground !
I wish it showed it separated and cleaned the pepitas
Что за сорт тыквы
Why are those pumpkins not made into pumpkin flour?
I do believe that the scraps are felt to horses, pigs, and other animals.
Imagine if a person gets run over by it O_o
What person would travel that slow of a paste also I'm pretty sure you can out run that
Wait let me guess......his SEEDS would get separated??😁
Damaged, misshapen and late season pumpkins are used for seed harvest.
That has not one goddamn thing to do with what you're saying in this these pumpkins are special type that are grown specifically for seeds. Once the seeds are extracted the remaining flesh that tastes like shitt by the way is put back in the field to help compost back and refertilize the field reducing need for additional fertilizer use the next year. This is standard farming 101 folks you do the same thing with corn you chop up 95% of the plant and only take the seeds.
@@deannelson9565 I've been trying to find the generic name of this seed pumpkin ?
Sorry but why are they being crashed..? Please someone explain it to me pleease. As a part of tropical island, we dont have much pumkins that big
Unless those are sugar pumpkins, they aren't used for things like pie. They are most likely used for Halloween. It's not a waste a food for these pumpkins to be shredded up like this. If this thing is harvesting sugar pumpkins, the shredded pumpkin would provide nutrients to the seeds, so it still wouldn't be a waste. Pumpkins are not a food we need to worry about not wasting.
xSPYDRx well that’s how the world works we could all be doing something productive couldn’t we? But we don’t and this is simply one out of the 1 millions things that we do instead of that
These pumpkins can be cooked alongside lentils and stew also tastes good
Frog prince maybe they prefer additives and preservatives
Frog prince on personal front, I suddenly noticed that my sis who was die hard chicken lover , suddenly became vegan in US. God only knows what transpired. I am not saying that being vegan is an issue but blindly following something just to be acceptable in crowd is kind of not having own identity..
I hope all the pumpkins aren't wasted.
To all the people that think this is a waste. Do not worry the bacteria will eat them. Then something will eat them. Then will continue to move up the food chain. Energy is always conserved.
So they grow pumpkins to crush them up to grow more pumpkins to crush them up to grow------
F the pumpkins I wanna know the background music name.
Daniyal Amed play City XXl lol
a lot of crops are this way, corn, soybean, wheat, barley and many many more.
on the topic og pumpkins. How can pumpkins be profitable. Does anyone even eat pumkins?
It would be great if you had the decency to credit the music.
What a snowflake. Perhaps I should call you a "pumpkin seed" in a rude manner instead. Yeah, I'll go with that.
Yes. How dare I think someone should get credit for their work, in accordance with the law. Total overreaction on my end. The fact that it bothered you that much to compel you to make your comment might suggest that you have some deep rooted sensitivity, inferiority, and insecurity issues. You should seek counseling.
the crushed pumpkin is not wasteful. It is returned to the soil to enrich it once again. This method returns the nutrients that are specifically used.
your comment doesnt make any sense, all foods thrown away are nutrients to the soil, doesnt mean its not wasteful to throw away food.
It's so wasteful but at the same time so satisfying
Do pumpkins hibernate the world
Trash a pumpkins? it taste good you know.
Why we need pumpkin seeds
they should make machine that separates the pumkin from its seeds so i doesn't seems wasteful
Am I missing something here? Yeah for getting the seeds but why let pumpkins rot when could have used for cattle/animal feed? Seems a farmers losing proposition. Pricey equipment with waste of time And Produce. imho
laimelady less fertilizer the farmer has to use with the next crop.
What the heck with all the wasted pumpkin flesh.
When the pumpkins were going through the escalator thing, i said that looks fun. But when it said each one gets crushed i stopped watching😅
I thought these were potatoes
Why the remaining pumpkin are thrown away! They can use it to do other products, or even a giveaway for poor people.
Alice Evonic There are other options for fertilizers, like dry leaves, straw, fish guts even..
Alice Evonic and you, as a rude perosn who doesn't know how to discuss in civilized way.
First, you can't judge who I am. And let assume me or other person doesn't know about a topic, you have no right to bully people with your pumpkin head, jeez you have many troubles, find life.
that spikes .. is not safe ..
Pumpkins are so good, they make great soups, they are great for roasting, this is such a waste...
this type only has a very thin shell. There are better species for eating, we also grow these :)
They ruined the outer shell of pumpkin, why ??? Its better to sell those outer shell of pumpkins
Eat squash and you get free seeds you can roast yourself.
Technically it's not waste because they put it back in the earth to make it rot but i see what yall talking about
This is so wasteful, why plant a whole field just to harvest seeds???
4Ever 2Eternitii to make it 7x bigger with them
because people like to eat pumpkin seeds.
Because the seeds are much more nutritional than the flesh of the pumpkin.
So they just shred the whole pumpkin and keep the seeds? Seems very wasteful.
Just give a poor man pumpkin and ask for the seeds in return
Hemp farming is needed badly for the high plains that can’t grow garden variety products for consumption. Wheat corn milo are ruining what top soil remains, from Texas to North Dakota and along the front range of the Rockies. Peter Peter Punkin Eater just blown out the chute!
A lot of empty pies out there
no.
And when people wonder how we waste like a third of the food every year.....here you go.
Ty K You know what else grows better with nutrients? Humans.
Ty K There already is such an excess of produce in which market prices drop so much they can leave produce in a field to rot as opposed to shipping it. That's the point.... that's literally what you're seeing in this video. As for your unfair ability to type on a laptop....you want to discuss winter and spring wheat prices in Montana and how Monsanto has had a strangle hold on the state for decades?
a
Are pumpkin seeds grown in china safe to eat?
This seems like a TV commercial for the Moty KE 3000. And not an informative video.
They don't describe how the seeds are separated and washed which is the complicated part.
Beware farmer before you buy a tractor make sure you can repair it. I have seen documentaries about how the farmers are in deep shit because the computerized tractors can only be repaired by their manufactures and not by a local guy.
You can make deliciouss pudding from the remaining pumpkin
Stop pumpkin abuse.
That is why , US is US !
Why am I watching this
Eat some raw pumpkin seeds and a calm sensation will come over you. Practically all your nervousness, worry and care will be gone.
Your mood and sleep will be better than ever. You'll lose interest if a thought starts to bother you.
Pumpkin seeds don't allow discomfort, only peace.
I didn't want to listen to music. I wanted to watch a video so I closed.
Is there some reason all that pumpkin is being wasted whilst millions starve?
so the rest of the pumpkin is just shat out? very disrespectful.
First
Its not useful
Waste of good pumpkins
They could at least make a machine to chop the pumpkin in half, keep it and take out the seeds instead of just smashing them, taking out the seeds and throwing a away the actual pumpkin.
Pumpkin cruelty
Pumpkin flesh wasted
Wasting good food..
It's not your food so dont worry about it.
Whats the point of farming pumkins if all you get is the seeds?
This is fucked up
This is soooo wastfull
😱😱😱such waste
So wasteful
This is so wasteful!
The fuck?I would love the video of a Moty sales rep showing this vid to some starving central African folks, and then especially their reaction.
this is what wrong with food in america,, you guys are picky eater, you only eat certain kind of fish, certain kind of pumpkin, take seafood for example, i seen a looot of video about fish that can grow soooo big but nobody want to eat it, because the "taste" and choose to eat something that you need to import from outside america, no wonder 90% seafood that american consume is imported stuff
صلو على النبي محمد
so much wastage of food wtf
If they harvest seeds from pumpkin and grow pumpkin from that seeds and harvest again, then it is totally useless and wasteful
This is totally ridiculous. please, sustainability? technology for what? to spend water and waste food
So wasteful. It can feed human also animal
