  • The current choice if you're cycling from west to central London thanks to The Royal Parks is walk your bike for 15 mins, (5x longer than riding & many folks can cycle but not walk that far), or brave Victoria Street or Piccadilly. Rock, meet hard place. This video shows what it's like (hint: rubbish).
What should The Royal Parks have done (yes, we've written to them to tell them this) is work with Westminster Council to provide protected space alternatives (something Westminster should have done long ago) & enable cycling through the park where it's not too crowded.
We filmed this video a week ago. Since then, reports have emerged on social media of park marshals shoving & abusing people with bikes, even those walking them, and of police (prioritisation of resources?) issuing tickets to those cycling in the more open and uncrowded space at The Royal Parks' behest. In email reply, The Royal Parks also say they "do not understand any reference" to their organisation being "anti-cycling"! You be the judge of that.
