@@ifb6368 You are both right. Westminster has city status, but it is also a London borough (London in this case being the big London of course, a.k.a. Greater London - I'm surprised CGP didn't mention the official name "Greater London"). Whereas the City of London is NOT a London borough (as explained in the video, the City - always with a capital "c" - is pretty unique).
      So, to summarise:
      - Westminster has city status, but is also a borough of Greater London (along with other boroughs, like Camden, Southwark, Lambeth, etc.)
      - The City of London has city status, but is NOT a borough of Greater London (it is a unique entity within the wider London conurbation)
      - London boroughs like Camden, Southwark, Lambeth, do NOT have city status. And neither does the wider conurbation of London (a.k.a. Greater London). Only Westminster and the tiny City of London have official city status.
Confusingly (as if it wasn't already confusing enough), the City of London does come under the Greater London Authority, even though the City of London is not part of the county of Greater London (yes Greater London is a county for some reason).
But let's be honest, this is all pointless and inconsequential information.

The City of Manila is well, a city with over 1.5M people, while Metro Manila, consisting of 15 cities (including Manila City), is not a city nor a province/state but a region, with over 13M people living inside. The City of London (the financial part) is also known as the Square Mile, although it isn't actually a square mile... it's not even a square!
Even though it looks mostly shiny and new with our little glassy sky scrapers, there are still the ancient, ancient pubs down tight alleys and beneath the older buildings that feel like you've gone back in time a five hundred years.
They do great 'bitters' and incredible pies. Some of them actually feel like refurbished medieval dungeons too, like the lower levels of 'Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese'. Yes it is actually called that xD
Btw, they are little Dragons on the Crest of London, Griffins have eagles heads (usually). I used to think they were Wyverns, but those only have two legs!!!

There are so many similarities between the City of London and the Vatican. They both were built when the Roman Empire was in power. They both had their surrounding land taken by outside forces from different lands. They both had strong walls so they both survived. The Lord Mayor of London is elected in a very similar way to the Pope. The kingdoms around them were overthrown by an outside force and both of those powers recognised the cities as independent from them. Both those new nations built a new capital city around it and called it the same name. These similarities are incredibly coincidental.

IT APPEARS that the video accurately depicts the situation that had existed BEFORE the London Government Act of 1963 and Greater London Authority Act of 1999 became effective. Presently, the 32 boroughs that the video labels "London" and the single entity the video calls "The City of London" are all elements of governed by the ""Greater London Authority." While "Greater London" is a ceremonial county that does not include "The City of London," both are subject to the "Greater London Authority." The "Greater London Authority" has within its jurisdiction 33 districts, including the City of Westminster, 31 other boroughs, and the "City of London." The 33 districts of under the "Greater London Authority" all have their own governments and mayors and the "Mayor of London" is the Mayor of the whole of Greater London, which includes all of the 32 boroughs and "The City of London."

It also simultaneously has the status of county (of England), just like Greater London.
As stated in the video (and anywhere else you wish to look), the local authority is the City of London Corporation, headquartered at Guildhall ans headed by the Lord Mayor (of the City of London).
The Mayor of London and the GLA, at City Hall, have very limited authority in the City (e.g. London-wide strategies such as TfL).

In the 1st video CP mentioned that even the London mayor (Sadiq Kahn's) role is limited to TFL.
So I believe that mayoralty is mostly ceremonial/symbolic
Yet at the same time. Given the total faff for a major of the city of London has to go through.
That role seems just ceremonial even symbolic
      (Considering no salary)

The scheme had initially received the go-ahead but Khan dashed the hopes of its designers, Foster + Partners, on Monday. “The mayor has a number of serious concerns with this application and having studied it in detail has refused permission for a scheme that he believes would result in very limited public benefit,” Khan’s spokesman said.
“In particular, he believes that the design is of insufficient quality for such a prominent location, and that the tower would result in harm to London’s skyline and impact views of the nearby Tower of London world heritage site. The proposals would also result in an unwelcoming, poorly designed public space at street level.”

When the other provinces elected their own governor through modern democracy (general election), Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta has their Governor through the tradition of Mataram Kingdom, the ancient Kingdom which has been existed before the emerging of Indonesia as one nation in 1945 - after got the independence from Hollands colonization (or Netherlands? Or Dutch :p, we - I'm Indonesian- call them "Belanda" or "Londo").

Very Nice and the emphasis of confusion is a good effect but if you want to avoid confusion, it is better to call London the Greater City of London (Offical Name) and the County it was once in Greater London. That's more confusing since it is now abolished and this wider region is mainly under the Greater City of London, its assembly, the Greater London Assembly and the Mayor of London.

Now that I think about it, William the Conqueror got lucky that it only had to strike a deal with one city. In Croatia alone, we used to have a dozen or so "free royal cities". The cities gained and lost that status from the early 13th century all the way to the mid 19th century when the institution was abolished. After that came Napoleon, the Hungarian uprising, the Austro-Hungarian settlement, the Croatian-Hungarian settlement, WWI, independence, union with Serbia, Yugoslavia I, Nazis, Communism, Yugoslavia II, a war of independence and now a republic so all of that is long in the past. There are still remnants though. For example, in my university we have some very old books and the title page says the book is published in the "free and royal city of Zagreb".

Its also the biggest tax haven on the planet. As far as old tradition is concerned its also run by the Knights Templar Society which also controls the Middle Temple Law society and as you mentioned Old Bailey. Yes the Banking and Law are controlled from The City. I`m no conspiracy nut as you no doubt call inquisitive people who see through the total scam which is Western Society.
