How to Restore headlights in 30 Minutes or Less | 2013 Hyundai Elantra Headlight Restoration

- Hello everyone! In this video, I got a call from a customer to restore the headlights on her 2013 Hyundai Elantra. The customer explained she was getting ready to trade the vehicle in, and wanted to get them restored beforehand so she could get more for her vehicle. While a dealer may not offer more because the headlights are clean, they may offer less because they aren't, so it's still worth getting them restored even though she is getting rid of the vehicle.
I started with a 320 to remove the oxidation, old clear coat, and any other imperfections. It came off pretty easily, so I could have started with a 400, but figured I'd just use the 320. I moved onto a 400 once everything was removed. This removed the deeper scratches made by the 320. Once it was good to go, I finished with a 600 to prep the lens for the clear coat. I did get a little too close when first spraying and caused a small drip, but fixed it with a dab and spray method.

Wet sanding is so much easier and faster then dry sanding and you don’t have to worry about the drill digging into the paint.
Agreed. No dust or anything flying all over the vehicle. A lot of people spend 10 minutes alone taping off the whole bumper and fender.

@@MichaelBrianInc ahh ok, I forgot I mentioned that! Yes, currently training another, and I'm really excited to get the transit. For the price, I didn't put too much thought into it. I used to work at a lube shop that offered it for $80, and we did them a lot there. I guess that may have played a part in it lol I really want to expand all over Florida, with different locations. Going to really grind it out in 2024 until we get a nice fleet going. 😁

Hi, I ordered this product/kit and I believe it says it comes with 600 grit sand paper. My headlights are very oxidized so I will probably need 320 and 400 like you used. Can I simply buy whatever they have at Home Depot for that grit or is there a certain kind? Thanks
Hello! What kind of vehicle is it? Yes, if your headlights are super oxidized you may need to grab some 320 from your local Home Depot. The kit is enough for slightly severe headlights. You'd want to get the waterproof sand paper.

What I've gathered from watching your videos is to keep wet sanding with the rough grit until water from the spray bottle sheets away, rather than remaining where sprayed. Essentially meaning the clear coat has been sanded away. Then, moving onto the 400 or 600 (if starting with a 320 for example) to basically hide the scratches from the rougher grit paper.
@@GTStuning- Sounds like you got it brother! Yes, visibly inspect the lens as you spray. Old clear coat and oxidation will by slightly darker in the spots that need more sanding. *That water repelling sign is for 400 and 600 only. 320 you only want to use to get rid of the rough stuff* You dont want to use 320 for too long, otherwise you may see scratches in your finished product.
