I’m a little late to the V1G2 game cause it launched in 2020 and I’ve have the V1G1 since ‘14 and absolutely love it.
But I must say, your videos are spectacular and such a help. I feel like I should be paying for the quality info you’re providing here. I’ll do my best to like, subscribe, comment and all that, but really wanna thank you for the quality content provided here.

Well third drive to work and my V1g2 running V1Driver stays very very quiet. I use the concealed display for visuals. But every day have had less and less bsm k falses even light up the main screen. And x band is going right to hard lock out. Perfect. My Ka’s have come thru and have already caught some sneaky unmarked suvs in my area, most are of axis detection from at least a half mile out. My preferred location for the detector to be out of sight from the outside but perfect for easy view and also clear line of sight due to my Rear-view mirror puts the v1 at the slightest 9degree angle up. I feel it’s a reasonable angle(not like 30degrees some have reported due to windshield rake) and I don’t think it’s causing much less range or detection abilities. Thoughts on that Vortex would be appreciated. Also joined the rdforum to gather input.

I enjoy your thorough posts as a loyal V1 customer for years who now has an Escort 360. I'm still torn between the gen 2 or waiting for the new radenso theia to come to market as the technology looks pretty awesome. For me, no arrows, no deal.
V1's always hold their value. You could sell your V1G2 when Theia comes.

What is the little “paddle” to the left of the frequency? It seems to change direction and change color from red to green based on signal location?
I’m shocked Valentine added the additional functionality. I still use my V1 Gen1 but I plan on getting the V2 soon.
Which functionality are you referring to? You can use V1Driver with your V1 Gen1 if you have a newer V1 and the optional V1C LE bluetooth module.
Vortex Radar I was referring to the iOS app. Thanks for info on the Gen 1. I’ll look into it. I’ve had my X and K bands off for years and it’s still functioning great with accurate alerts.
My gen2 is quieter than my gen 1 with custom sweeps. K band range is slightly less than my Gen1

I have had Valentine's for quite a wile already although I bought a R-7 and I love it. But lately I have been using it on my 2015 Cadillac and it will go off non stop on K band even though I put the filter on. Any suggestions or should I just go back to a Valentine Gen 2.

Finally got my v1G2. Was wondering is there a plastic film to peel off the display? Mine seems to have the appearance of some sort of film. Around the mute button and on the far right side of the display. Is there anything or do I already have a issue??
I just bought mine also and in one of his videos he did mention that they did add a film to the front screen. It is suppose to be there. It is the video where he goes through the settings of the V1G2 itself. very good video of course.
Great video! I drive a Tesla and plugging into the cigarette lighter keeps the detector running and requires me to manually turn it on/off for every drive. Any tips on triggering this automatically?
Does it integrate with apple CarPlay?
A few questions here for Vortex. Do you turn your mute volume all the way down? Also, the local PD uses K Band. Should I turn off AutoMute K Band?

What do u think the best window mount detector is, I’m a big fan of Escort. I have the Max 360c in my car and the Max 360 in my girlfriends car. I was excited to see the red line 360 C but after watching your video it doesn’t seem to perform very well my girlfriend and I put on over 5000 miles a month on each of our cars we do Uber and Lyft 12-18 hours a day 7 days a week what would u recommend
I live in Missoula Montana 99.9% of cops use KA I have only seen 1 cop with K and that was a long time ago and it was a sheriff so I run with everything off but KA on my escort Max 360 and Max 360 c

I have a question as to how V1Driver works. When a signal is locked out by gps functionality, is it only muted from the V1Driver app notifications/sounds or is it also muted on the v1 detector itself?

Today I received my two V1, G2's. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to connect the V1 Connect app with either detector. Upon launch, V1 Connect enters demo mode and never exits it. The app never attempts to connect via BT to my detector. I'd appreciate any thoughts?

Driver is great and George did a good job, but like any app, who really wants to run their RD on an app when the V1 Gen 2 should have had GPS integrated into unit. One area where Mike V really dropped the ball on new V1.
Do we know yet if issues with Gen 2 resolved yet??
Uniden owns the patent for GPS lockouts. Valentine uses the free app to get around the patent issue. Simple.

Sure, works great. They’re completely different and stand-alone apps, but complementary

I have the Valentine 1 Gen 2, absolutely love it but I’ve noticed that V1 driver doesn’t always auto connect. Sometimes I have to pull over, open V1 driver, close it, then open it again on the app before the unit will connect....any ideas?

What USB? It uses Bluetooth which is wireless.

I just got my V1 gen 2 and I am very confused. my booklet from Valentines says that V1 connection, the app is free(I just downloaded) but what is this V1 driver? is V1 driver another different app? Should I even have two apps for the Valentine? this is getting redundant because I also have WAZE app. I just want to have one single app does-it-all. Thanks!
V1Driver is a third party paid app. V1connection is a free app good for initial programming and updates. V1Driver is better for day to day driving with its additional false alert filtering features. Waze is a great app too, but it's designed for a completely different purpose.

By the way, you should set up an account for donations, I watched many of your videos, as a matter of fact, the two last radar detectors that I just purchased (Uniden R7 and Valentine V1 Gen 2) were picked based on your videos. You put a lot of R&D on many sources(forums, CZcams), etc. Keep up the good work.

I'm confused. I got the V1 Gen 1 because of your videos. I'm trying to get it going with V1 connection app. Do I need to pay the 10 bucks to buy the other app called V1 driver? I've never paid for an app in my life. I trust you and your videos. If I need to I'll buy it. Please update.

The V1 Gen 1 has been discontinued for a while. If you have a new enough version and a Bluetooth module, you can use V1Driver or V1companion. The latter is cheaper and has some cool newer features.
isn't big L mode okay if you are in like Oregon where there is no K band used by police?
I've seen K band in OR, but if you're in an area where it's not used, L mode would be fine. V1Driver can do a little more muting for you when in l mode, but the V1 itself will be quieter in L mode. When it alerts though, it'll just alert full volume initially before V1Driver can kick in the muting for you.

V1Driver doesn't use the internet at all

When you restore the app from backup, only the app is restored, not the settings. I would recheck that.
Also, the fact I need to do all of this on a phone to get this radar to do some of these core functions, I think I will wait until the manufacturer incorporates GPS, GPS lockout, and other key functionality into the radar so it can stand on its own. I prefer to use Car-Play and use it for music, phone calls, and Waze/Goole-Maps. I can't afford to dedicate my phone screen to this radar alone.
Ah you’re right that the backup only covers the database, not the settings too. Thanks for pointing that out.
Valentine isn’t adding GPS for a variety of reasons. I prefer it integrated too, but a phone can often do many of the features better than when built into a RD directly. I explain this more here: czcams.com/video/0sa8pQH-Alo/video.html
and no, you don’t need to dedicate your phones screen to an app. V1Driver is designed and intended to be run backgrounded.

I have been running the R7 for a few days and it is not as bad of a chatter box as I expected... Although I'm sure things will need more tuning when I do more urban driving... Only one run so far through such an area... a local area with massive traffic and it is always heavy on patrols... I would have chosen the V1g2 without question if the return rate on the first batch didn't look so bad. It is still on my list but I prefer to not have to rely on my phone with my detector... I have run Waze in the past and I am hit and miss on setting it up each drive and sometimes I need my phone for other options... Thanks again for all the information
I have had the Rodenso ProM and the Uniden R7 in the last year. NEITHER will detect Laser guns that SC Highway Patrol are using!! My old V1 (first Gen) did. I just ordered a V1 Gen 2. If you're not worried about Laser, both detectors are excellent. The Rodenso has less false alerting.

It uses OBD II to power the detector and give it low speed muting, not USB. V1Driver uses your phone GPS to do more sophisticated stuff like low speed muting and way more.
Not sure what I am Doing wrong. Just got my GEN2. V1 connection doesn’t find the the Radar. But V1 Driver does connect.
You can only have one app connected at a time. V1Driver does a great job staying connected and reconnecting. Make sure you tell V1Driver to disconnect first if you want to use V1connection.

Vortex Radar ok looks like I followed all your settings. But first time out for a drive and it muted K band which is good a secondary mute. Also after a while it said duplicate. And then I got a KA band but it said “Ignored” what does that mean? But it did beep doo doo twice. And a police 🚔 car was on the bridge. But not a fast ramp up. Is that fine?

I have an escort DSP from 1991 that is brand new with box and all accessories. No KA or laser band but came out prior to the V1
Wow, Valentine couldn't give the customers that spend the money on the V1 a free app download? That kinda ruins it for me. But who am I? I do love the feature that quiets the alert when driving under the set speed. Uniden calls it Q-ride. It's great, it quietly alerts when cruising under 45mph(my setting). Best feature added to the current line of detectors.
Valentine offers a free app called V1connection that offers low speed muting just like you're wanting. If you want automatic lockouts, you can purchase V1Driver.
The military upgrade for the V1 is JBV1 on Android. The programibility is endless.
I have a question, my v1gen2 does not say bluetooth va it say trig 1 is this correct
Pushing the V1G2 pretty hard, as if it's the only detector on the market.
A new V1 is a big deal. I've got one more video I want to do in the series (JBV1) and then I'll be moving on to other detectors. Did you see my last video where I mentioned I'm getting tired of V1 videos too? :p

There's an option to change voices if you like. I didn't cover it in the video.
"Adds a lot of functionality" that come standard with other radar detectors for about the same price. Without these apps, the Valentine One is a dated radar detector. 👎
