- A recently discovered early episode - thanks to 'Kahless the Unforgettable' for pointing me to them in the comments section of one of my synopsis videos.
00:00 - Episode 17 - 3rd February 1961
23:55 - Episode 18 - 8th February 1961
This belongs to ITV
Thanks to Harry Clarke. for uploading these - Zábava
This was a year BEFORE the 'Beatles' arrived on the scene. I've become addicted to Corrie for the SECOND time - I'm 75. Ena Sharples was and will be a one-off forever, brilliantly played by Violet Carson.
Violet was a wonderful actress who showed Ena’s caring side sometimes, as well as her mean spirited side. In this episode we saw Ena’s anti-Irish racism in a pub scene
Fascinating to see these in colour- from C/Street's golden era - my fav character too was Elsie followed closely by Annie
I'm thrilled watching these. Thank you.
Glad you like them!
Enjoying these coloured early episodes.
Really enjoyed these- particularly the second one - with Denis' shenanigans and Ena gossiping about Ida Barlow getting tick! Coronation street was much more real and in tune with the real Northerner at this time.
Elsie looked younger in the 70s than in the 60's.
That’s thanks to a facelift and slimming, as well as the producers consciously ‘ageing down’ the character. She looked about 34 in the early colour eps (she was 46)
Hahaha the days when the words “HIRED PURCHASE” were a viable cliffhanger.
BURP..... "I beg your pardon?" "that's ok Ma, I thought it was Dad" 😂😂
Another brilliant colour episode, thank you.👍🙋♀️🇬🇧
Ty so much for these great fan from nz here
Cheers mate, I appreciate the shout! I’ll keep looking for missing eps as I have the time, as it’s my only way to watch here in the US (the DVDs are in PAL format unfortunately!) Best of luck in the New Year discovering more lost episodes❣️
No problem! I appreciate you pointing me towards them. I've always got my eyes open for other episodes, best of luck to you too!
thank goodness i found these 2 episodes, i thought i was going to miss out
Link?
How do you mean?
Link to the original black and whit episodes
@@chapple. It was czcams.com/video/awyitnvvo7Y/video.html but it seems the channel that was hosting it has been closed down now.
Did you download it? If so could I have the file?
🤣 Elsie slapped the colour right out of Dennis.
Runner up was Minnie cracking the whip in the snug.
Such a clever contrast between the puffy patriarch,Frank ruling the roost at No.1...with the mithering matriarch Annie next door calling the shots....
Fascinating watching this, you can see the monotone colours used in the sets and the clothes worn by the characters. I guess this was to bring out the best grey scale for the black and white camera?
I think that's the reason, I would love to see some colour photos of the characters and sets from back in the day
I spot a very slim Alf Roberts
Alf Roberts makes an entry
Ken still looks the same
Please find more of these old episodes! Marvelous actors!
I have quite a few more uploaded, and more to come 😊
@@Thefan Thank you; black and white film is fine too; God Bless!
Enjoying this. The Barlow dad ,well I would rebel at his manner and opinions. Thanktou
The next two are missing 😢
Ekey thump 😂
Enjoying early Corrie, I was wondering whether you had any plans to upload middle period Take the High Road from the "90's because you can't get it anywhere else. STV player only let you watch 130 episodes at a time and they don't let you download it.
Wonderful, but the Barlows …
At about 19:45 the couple behind the ladies keeps breaking the 4th Wall looking directly at the cameras. 😅33:59 The wall mirror with the deflection panel hanging from above looks odd enough - but the reflection in it looks exactly like Cousin It from The Addams Family. 👀
❤️🌹🇦🇺
Which actor played Gordon?
Ena was such an awful character. I don’t remember her being so horrible
