Bet's reaction to 'amorous Alf' made this one of the best ever episodes of Corrie. Brilliantly written and nobody could have done it better than those two... side splittingly funny! Golden memories to treasure. Thankyou so much for bringing this back to us.
@@nitad4203 God that was Soo funny, I can see it now in my mind's eye! Alf was hilarious as a Casanova. And Bet's nervous reaction, LMAO! Thanks for the reminder, I'm going to watch it again this weekend - I could do with a laugh!
@@glamdolly30 I have watched these videos continuously since Professional Gun66 uploaded them. I watch all of them and then start over. It's a great channel. There are so many good storylines and great laughs. Eddie getting the 'Monogrammed Carpet' for Annie Walker is hilarious and Bet, Betty and Fred's day out where the Rover ends up in the lake is just so funny. Its good old fashioned entertainment from a time that is so dear to my heart 😊
4:21 nice adlibbing from Deirdrie / Ann with tracey getting shell in her egg. also a lot more verbal fluffs which is quite normal, we are not all word perfect every time we speak so it was a lot more realistic
I know they rotate characters on basis of appearances etc but Elsie being absent at Gails wedding was ludicrous. That budgie was in good nick considering. Nearly at the end of the 70's, thanks for providing us with something decent to watch 👍🏼
Bert was great with Gail ( & vice versa ) . Typical Ivy interfering with the reception do. Loved Bet saying Hilda had a voice like a piano falling down a fire escape lol. And Annie Walker's icy warning to Hilda " if you disturb a molecule of air ,I shall dismiss you " .
Regardless of the scandal which befell Peter Adamson, he played the part of Len Fairclough brilliantly. Could have remained in the show until the 1990s and became a Corrie legend had things been different.
I am in America, but watching on CZcams and Britbox and know the story of Peter Adamson. It is, indeed, sad. He was angry that they chose to have his character go in such a way and blamed producers for trying to turn the audience against him by having his character die in the midst of an affair for Rita to find out. Would have been very nice if things could have turned out differently, especially since Len was the one who got onto Ray for cheating with Janice.
Nice one for uploading these. It takes me back to being a kid and watching with my mam and dad. I've sat through hours of them. :) I should get out more
Interesting at 2:12:02 where Alf bumps into Audrey at Rovers front door purely as strangers (possibly their first onscreen encounter) yet it would be a few years later before they'd be a couple!
Elsie's departure seems quite sudden, and I can't help but wonder if Pat Phoenix had to leave to look after her terminally ill husband, Alan Browning (who played her on-screen husband Alan Howard, of course). Browning died of liver failure in September 1979.
I know people looked older in the 1970s, but isn’t Deidre supposed to be in her 20s? Her clothes, hair and huge glasses make her look like a frumpy 40-something at least
Watching these old ones I'm realizing how many storylines they reuse. The chickens, lying to perspective buyers on home, the metal detector in the allotment, the hair piece, the dog race one (multiple times),just to name a few. Even the modern writers knew they cdnt do better than the classics
Ken is a really stunningly handsome man, as in hot! Glad to know he's still going strong and has aged very well. Bert is also very handsome in a more rugged way. Congrats to Gail and Brian!!
BERT HANDSOME 😂😂😂IM sorry, but totaly disagree, i nearly choked laughing when u said that, everyone to there own and your opinion but i just dont see it AT ALL and his acting was no better either, i hated his character, got on my nerves, i was glad when he went.
Hot definitely doesn't come to mind when thinking of Ken Barlow 😅 but oh well, different strokes for different folks. He was very decent looking man back in his day though. His age is showing through here.
IVY should have met her plastic surgeon earlier. He/she could have stitched her lips together & superglued them. Oh what joy for her family & friends. IVY grows on you. Like a wart on a witches nose. But with Ivy a huge boil on someone’s bum.
Indeed. It seems that that nothing goes to plan In Coronation Street weddings post 2000. Or perhaps before. It was a lovely service. What a shame the passing of time has been such a disappointment.
Yes! You're so right! I've been watching the more modern episodes and it's all blaming everyone else for everything with punch ups at wedding and funerals, murders and general nastiness! 😑
Been watching all episodes since 1960s really enjoyed them but from May 1979 just seem to be fast forwarding now. The story now about the budgie stuck behind the fireplace totally ridiculous
I come from a small town - My mum and her like wouldnt have got on with Elsie or Rita for that matter - Too fancy - I think maybe Ivy or Vera maybe Hilda would have been more her type - People like Elsie were gossiped about - you would here them talk about stuff they got up to during the war and what they were wearing stuff like that - My dad would have got on well enough with Elsie which would have been like a red flag to a bull as far as my mother was concerned
The story, changing the man from the animal charity, makes no sense whatsoever, I'd say something happened to the original actor, he couldn't come back, they didn't want him, who knows!
Three of the loveliest words in the English language:
'ALL EIGHT EPISODES'.
