So ladies and gentlemen this is a sad day as this is my last Corrie video. I have shared all I have with you and I hope that another channel appears that can follow in my footsteps and use the same concept. These 140 omnibus video editions represent hard work for the last few months (including making thumbnails) and I'll be quite happy not to watch them for another year. I wanted to get them out asap because of the home situation we have found ourselves in hoping it would make life a little more bearable. I Will be posting the rest of my James H. Reeve series from Manchester's Key 103 which I found to be a nice compliment to Corrie as James does talk about the cobbles from time to time. Enjoy ❤️

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I watched Coronation Street as a teenager in the 80s so I had never seen these 70s episodes till now. I stopped watching Corrie from around the late 90s. I felt the show had lost too many great characters. I loved them all but firm favourites were Eddie Yeats, The Odgens, Elsie and Bet Lynch. They made ordinary every day storylines come alive because of their great acting skills. Annie Walker I loved too and even Fred! The interactions of the characters was pure genius. I thoroughly enjoyed the walk down memory lane to the 70s, a time that is very dear to my heart. Thank you again, It was a blessing to find your great channel and it gave me many great hours of pure entertainment. You are a star! 😀

Please know how much you have helped me by bringing such lovely memories of Corrie. I am housebound and have been for years, crippled by anxiety that prevents me crossing the front door. My home is my bubble where I feel safe and secure and having the opportunity to watch your uploads has been so beneficial for my mental health, giving me such a lift. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of it.

And I'm sure we're not alone, it's a wonderful and very popular channel for all the fans of vintage Corrie - which of course is the show at its very best!

13:20 A shiver went down my spine, hearing Mike Baldwin's speech speculating on what life would be like after Gail and Brian had been married 50 years.
How amazed everyone present at the wedding would be, to know 'Coronation Street' would still be going strong into the 21st century - and what utter, unwatchable crap it would become!

      “Less money about than now.”
The average person in the U.K. could afford to live relatively comfortably in 1979. Fast-forward 42 years and post-grads are up to their eyeballs in debt and bachelors/single mums are having to microwave dogs’ food twice a day because they can’t afford to even nip to Aldi. So I wouldn’t go that far.

My parents supported the local rugby league team, home and away, went to Hull City home games and took me along, and paid for me to go to the speedway too, with my uncle. She was a smasher in her younger days but seeing her in this is amazing!
She was a brilliant actress & she certainly cuts the mustard in this! A beautiful woman ! There arent the kind of glamorous actress these days as Pat was!
Same with the lovely Rita, another fabulous looking older woman, very chic!
Lordy Brian & Gail look like kids!
    Hahaha
Loved Susie Birchall i cant ever remember seeing her in many other acting roles which is odd because she a terrific actress & very pretty
Someone can tell me what she did after Corrie, hopefully.
Im amazed Ena Sharples is still around in some of these!
I remember the huge rows & arguements Elsie Tanner & Ena Sharples used to have!
    They were Dynamite!
Yet there was great respect between them !
So wonderful to still see Uncle Albert Tatlock too,
And Bette Lynch, Mrs Walker of the Rovers!
Cuddley big Eddie, the irrepressible Vera Duckworth!
I think the only person i didnt care for among the whole cast was Ivy Tilsley.. she was a nasty sly backstabbing woman & from all accounts she wasnt far, in real life from her character in this!
Mike the lothario & his flashy lifestyle lol!
God! Im watching Elsie ( Pat) now & i think she would have had a wonderful career if shed gone to Hollywood! Shed have reigned supreme!
Sorry but Ken Barlow is still boring! 😆

I'm not sure of the 1960s history, but Elsie definitely owned her house at this point, as it's up for sale.
I assumed she always had owned it - from when the series first launched in 1960 and she lived there with her adult son and daughter, Dennis and Linda by the rather dull Arnold Tanner (what did feisty Elsie ever see in him?)

Looks like Pat Phoenix had some cosmetic work done while away from the show.

    • @glamdolly30
      @glamdolly30 Před 3 lety +9

Spot on! Pat Phoenix had her second face lift in August/September 1979, which is why she was supposedly 'ill' and couldn't attend Gail's wedding! Her first face lift was around 1970.
Incidentally, according to Corrie producer Bill Podmore, Pat's post cosmetic surgery bruising is the also reason she missed her estranged husband Alan Browning's real life funeral in September '79, and only sent flowers.
I think it was a very good face lift - you can see it clearly in her scenes towards the end of this month, when Bet Lynch calls at her house to find out why she's left boyfriend Ron in Cornwall at Christmas (needless to say, they'd split up).
The big giveaway was her first scene when she returned to the cobbles from her extended stay in Cornwall with boyfriend Ron. She stepped out of the black cab in broad daylight, on a winter's day, wearing huge sunglasses to hide her post-surgery bruises!
Pat was always very open about her cosmetic surgery, and never made any secret of her two face lifts, telling all her fellow cast members and producers.

Just a side note of possible interest to some - although Pat Phoenix has a naturally wide mouth, I noticed it seemed unnaturally wide in the last few months, also her profile & jawline is beautifully smooth & taught. Looking back at older photos of her, this was not the case, and as we generally don't age backwards, this indicates that Pat did have some kind of face lift, during her numerous times away from the street. It was very well done, she looked great & luckily she seemed to have no problems, so good for her!
