    Those subscription services really get you with those small monthly payments! It adds up SO fast. I also feel you with not shopping around for your bank account. I found out when I was 25 that the savings account I had was only meant for children aged around 12 🙈 I'd never bothered to move from the bank account my parents had set up for me, and equally the bank never cared enough about me to move me onto an adult account - no wonder I had such low interest!

      Legit...that’s how they get you! I’m just glad you got it sorted. These little and sometimes big things add up more than people realise

      It does to many people who hadn’t thought of it. That’s what I’m here for 😉

      @@dansplained42 Did a quick google search - found another bank that offers more than twice the interest rate my current bank did. took a grand total of 15 mins to open an account with them online.
      mind = blown.

    Tip 2 is so great. Sometimes the admin work of moving banks around can seem like too much of a hassle but it’s really not and it’s totally worth it. Great tip 👌🏼

    I have finally set up a budget based on my weekly pay. I do up to 20 hours of overtime a week. I now as of a few weeks ago put all of my overtime in a separate account. 20 years in the same job and i had nothing to show for it. Now things are changing.

    Great tips. I find what works best for my wife and I is to set short term, mid term and long term goals (the same as what I do with my career).
    Gives you goals to follow along the way so those longer term goals don't feel as dreary

    The only problem with constantly changing banks is constantly changing the card that gets autodebited

    • @dansplained42
      @dansplained42  Před 3 lety

      Yep, that’s true, a tiny bit of extra effort, but it’s well worth it to save hundreds or even thousands of dollars a year

    How do you balance investing and saving? Or do you classify saving the same as investing?

    • @dansplained42
      @dansplained42  Před 3 lety

      I plan to make a full video on this in the not so distant future, hopefully. I like to invest almost everything I save, aside from a small emergency fund. I classify them very differently
