    I'll go pretty in-depth about some things in this video, so I hope I can help some people out with this!

    Thanks for this review! Just got my G14 (white) and been using it for almost 2 weeks now. It's my daily driver laptop for work and gaming. The build quality, display, keyboard, and trackpad are top-notch. I'm glad Asus just went sleek and premium with the Zephyrus this year, so it doesn't scream GAMING like other models. Plus, I can get 7-10 hours of productivity (light load) when I work outside. Love it!

      Exactly, they name it white, but only the keycaps are white. The body is silvery-ish which I prefer more than just regular white. When using it on battery, the screen drops to 60Hz (about 50-60% brightness). I set GPU mode at 'optimized' so it uses only the integrated graphics on light load. I also set battery profile to battery saver. And yeah I can achieve amazing battery performance out of it! :) (The gray one looks dope tbh.)

      The anti burn-in features are not handled by AC, but are rather built in to the display itself, and Windows settings. Inside AC, you can simply control them from 1 place. These settings are on by default, so you can install G-Helper right away if you'd want to.

I’m mainly trying to get some serious power in a laptop while having it look like more of a regular laptop does, which is what the 2024 G14 does perfectly. Would you recommend this laptop for what I said above or would there be any other candidates that can fare just as well?

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  Před 23 dny +4

      Thank you! :D
      If you're used to a bigger screen size, it might be a better option for a laptop for you. But do keep in mind that the weight increases significantly when you size-up a laptop. The G14 is a 2kg package when you include the charger, and the G16 is almost 3kg with the charger.
      If carrying weight isnt an issue for you though, DEFINITELY get the G16. You get more performance, a bigger display, better cooling, better speakers, etc. :)

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  Před 2 dny +1

      I dont really game while unplugged since it drains tf out of the battery D:
      If i would, i'd put it on Turbo mode or a similar custom profile for max performance. Naturally, the battery would only last like 1-2 hours tho.
      If you want to prioritize battery life, put it in Eco (disables GPU), turn down brightness and the keyboard backlight, put it in silent mode, and enable Nvidia battery optimizer.

      Keep in mind that AMD CPUs use as much thermanl headroom as possible, so chip temperatures at 90-95 degrees is normal!
      You could set a custom fan profile, so that it cools it more aggressively. The top part of the laptop being hot is normal, as this happens with every gaming laptop, but the keyboard and palm rest should stay cool to the touch.

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  Před 8 dny

      I have a full review of the G16 and a comparison between the G14 and the G16 coming up, so stay tuned to see a full comparison :)
      For the short answer:
      The G16 is almost identical to the G14 in performance if you get the 4060 or 4070 model.
      HOWEVER, the 4080 and 4090 G16 models are WAY more powerful than the G14.
      So unless you get those higher end models, the G16 basically only gives you a better screen and speakers.

    does it get hot and do the fans make lots of noise while playing ?

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  Před měsícem +2

      The CPU does get hot, but that's just AMDs thermal design, which always wants to hover around 90-95 degrees. However, you will BARELY feel it on the chassis. The cooling system is designed to handle it, so the keyboard deck (except up towards the screen obviosuly) will not feel uncomfortably hot to the touch. The fans do make noise while gaming, since its a full load application, but not loud at all compared to other gaming laptops.
      If the noise is still too much, you could of course set a custom fan profile to change that to your liking :)

Im torn between 2 choices and would really appreciate it if you could help out. I could either go for the g14 2024 4070 or i could go for a macbook air (cos it's heavily discounted rn) + a console/handheld. Now the thing is, i play a lot of valo/cs so that wont be possible on a handheld/console but that fits my budget and satisfies my gaming needs to a degree too. Or i just go with the g14 and deal with the problems. I do need a stable machine for daily use for School/personal stuff so i dont really wanna be tinkering with it everyday.

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  Před dnem +1

      Very valid question :)
      Subreddits are always a collection of every possible problem, so I wouldn't go off of that to check for the quality of a product (the same with the Razer subreddit, where is almost looks like EVERY Razer laptop has battery issues). In reality, defects happen around 0.5-1% time, so i wouldnt worry about it :)
      What i always do when buying a new product is HEAVILY test everything out, and benchmark it for like an hour, just to make sure that it absolutely works. And if it doesnt, simply return it at the retailer you bought it from, before the return period ends!
      As for your choice: i would NOT recommend switching to any MacOS device if you've always been on Windows, and do gaming on the side. The learning process takes long, and it'll be very annoying if you try to actually get anything done.
      Hope i could help :D

      @crimsontechyt  Před dnem +1

      @spaff_hazz Ohh then you should be familiar with MacOS :)
      I've tried using an M1 MBA for a while, but I just kept missing the freedom of Windows and the ability to play games (which i do a lot xd).
      My benchmarking process is just use is HEAVILY for a couple days, giving it the heaviest workloads (gaming, editing, CPU + GPU benchmarks while i dont use it, and fully discharging it and charging it up to 100% every day. I do a body bend test, press on the keys, touchpad, etc to test if anything is loose/screwed in right.
      Then you'll know for SURE that it works.
      If it shuts down unexpectedly, or makes creaking sounds while opening and closing or somth, you'll know it's defective, and your retailer should take it back (atleast here in Europe 🙃)

Programming is main priority and gaming comes second. I need it to last for a few years . If yes then do I get the g14 intel or AMD for my preference ?
    Thanks

    Thank you for this review, we needed this after a month to see if you still impressed by it or you were happy with the new device back then :D
    However I have 3 questions:
    1. Does the battery still last long, or has its lifespan been reduced?
    2. If you sit in front of a fan or outdoor with regular wind (not a storm obviously :D) will the screen wobble ?
    3. while moderate/heavy use but not playing game, does it get too hot to touch ? because I heard heating is an issue with Asus laptops

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  Před měsícem +2

      Thank you. I'm glad i could help :)
      1. The battery life hasnt changed, and because i had the time to test different power profiles, i could actually make it last longer, from running the cpu at lower wattages. The customizeability is very handy for when you NEED the battery life.
      2. No, the screen doesn't wobble from wind or outside factors (i live in the netherlands, so i've had plenty of wind to test it out xd). The only time it wobbles is if you touch it yourself.
      3. With the default power profiles (so turbo for example), the CPU doesn't go higher than 90-95 degrees (which is normal). With custom profiles, you could set the fans at a higher speed (with more noise, though), which will keep it cooler. But to the touch, only the part above the keyboard is hot to the touch. The keyboard and the part below the keyboard do not get that hot at all, so you wont feel the heat.

      @@crimsontechyt That's awesome! thank you for your response, one last question I forgot to ask, would be a great decision maker if you help me with an answer hehe, now in my razer blade 14 it gets hot because im a heavy user, but when it gets hot I set my fans speed to 5400 and it cools down almost instantly, so the area where you rest your palms gets uncomfortably hot, but within 5 minutes of setting fans to top speed it gets cooled down that you actually feel COLD air coming out of the keyboard which what I really love about this laptop, so is it the same case when it comes to the new G14 ? or does it have another scenario ?

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  Před měsícem

      The Blade downclocks its CPU slightly when putting it on manual fan mode, so that might partly be why it cools down so quickly :)
      The G14 has a closed fan loop though, so you wont feel air coming out of the top through the keyboard. It does have 3 fans on the inside though (one that goes through the middle part of the chassis), so the keyboard deck NEVER gets hot in my experience (my Razer blade's chassis did get hot quickly, but i never knew why). If heat is ever an issue, you could simply set a more aggressive fan curve :)

      They're using Samsung panels, which retain all their anti burn-in functions from their previous displays, which means you could probably use it every day for 8 hours, and still not get burn-in after 5 years.
      A lot of tests have been done around these, and even in the cheapest modern day OLEDs, burn-in is basically non-existant during normal use :)
      Someone on CZcams kept an LG C1 on the same screen for 18 months, and still didnt get burn-in. And that's an OLD panel by now.

      - Disable the dGPU by setting it to Eco mode
      - Use the silent profile (or a custom one)
      - Set the CPU power limit lower (like 25w or less)
      - Don't run heavy programs

      Nice, I was able to get mine at ~$1,300. It was at a sale price of $1,450, and I got another ~$170 off by getting it Open-Box excellent condition. It was like new, with, as far as I could tell, just the seal broken, plastic wrap taken off the box and slightly cut off of the charger and possibly the keyboard sheet cover thing missing, but other than those minor things the laptop and charger appeared perfectly untouched and brand new! So definitely think it was a great deal and way to save some money. Usually I wouldn't buy anything Open-Box, but I had a bit of time to play with, and it saved me a decent amount of money. Glad I got it when I did since it hasn't went on sale since.

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  Před 22 dny +1

      The laptop RTX 4070 does not see any improvements when using more than 90-100 Watts of power. Nvidia capped voltage limits on a hardware level with the 40 series, so any GPU with more wattage than the max cant use it :(
      So 14 inch laptops with a 4070 with 90-100 watts will perform the same as an 18 inch laptop with a 4070

      OLED has near instant response times, so for quick and fluid motion, it's amazing. A bigger screen will let you see further easier though. If you only play close quarters competitive games like CS2 and COD, a smaller display is more than fine. But for bigger games like Battlefield, a bigger screen really helps you spot far away things like snipers :)
      I myself dont have an issue with 14 inches, except when needing to look really far (i'll just move closer to my screen lol)

    "1 Month Review" you shouldn't tell us what we already know from previous reviews like the specs and stuff. Tell us about your personal experience using it for example how's the fan noise, battery life with normal tasks, anything about the G14 that annoys you, how hot does it really get under load etc. These are some of the information we are more interested in after someone uses it for a month.

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  Před měsícem +2

      I don't have accurate readings for fan noise, so it would be a very subjective analysis for fan noise unfortunately. I spoke about battery life in the full review, when i did extensive tests on it, but i should have repeated those in this video.
      I try to keep videos fresh each time, so that new viewers that may not have watched the older videos get all the info as well :)

    • @crimsontechyt

      The fan noise is audible while gaming, but with my speakers at 40% with Dolby sound set on "Movie", the game's sound MORE than drowned out the fan noise. And it could get a whole lot louder, so that shouldn't be a huge concern. Of course headphones are always an option :D
      During normal tasks in Silent mode, the fans don't even turn on, so it's really quiet.
