  • In this video I'll be comparing the (in my opinion) BEST 14 inch gaming laptops around. The Razer Blade 14 and Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 are similar in size, but differ wildly in some areas. So let's see what each one's strengths and weaknesses are, and if there even is a winner!
    This comparison is pretty in-depth, so I'll cover some things that most big CZcamsrs won't :)

    Can you test the G14 in terms of video editing, especially scrubbing through the video timeline when there are effects attached to the clips? It would be nice to add a video on how this G14 performs productivity tasks as I have not seen any reviewers mentioned that.

    Hey there, amazing review. Which one would you go with for the quietest possible gaming on battery?

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Thank you very much :)
      They can both get pretty loud, but their fan noise is "different".
      The Blade has a "heavier" / lower pitch fan noise, while the G14 is "lighter" / higher.
      I personally prefer the Blade's fan noise, but it's pretty personal.
      HOWEVER:
      The G14 has MUCH more control over it. You could set custom fan curves, and undervolt the CPU.
      So for the quietest experience, absolutely go with the G14 :)

  • @SmGShadow

    Think G14 was the clear winner. The 16:10 screen ratio is just better when it comes to productivity, and the OLED is supreme in every which way. Minor things like rgb lighting effects don’t matter, most of the time they’re off and as a party trick they both still turn on.
    For almost all games, running at high instead of ultra will easily give you over 100fps. And these days and especially on a 14inch screen, you can barely tell the difference between both settings.
    The G14 gunmetal look with rounded edges also looks and feels much more premium and polished, without leaving fingerprints. Sort of like the MacBook Pro cleanliness and class.
    Also, great video 🙏🏼, definitely much more unique and straight forward to the point when it comes to reviews and comparisons compared with the hundreds of other copy paste style video formats aha.

      Yeah I think the G14 is a clear winner in every area, but i still think the Blade 14 feels more sturdy because of the higher grade and thicker aluminum, and the tighter display hinge (And the 16GB of VRAM in very specific applications).
      Other than that, it's really awesome.

      Just to note, the 2023 and 2024 Blade 14 models have 16:10 screens. Mine is a 2023 with a 240hz refresh rate and 500 nits of brightness. It's still an LCD screen, but it is absolutely gorgeous. It's not going to beat an OLED, but I've got nothing to complain about. They also have larger trackpads.

    Wonder how much battery life for VIDEO EDITING work- you can squeeze out of the G14 when you:
    1. Disable the LED stripe at the back
    2. Lock refresh rate to the lower 60hz
    3. Use G-Helper and uninstall Armoury Crate
    4. Limit the CPU down by 5% like you said before - which saves 7W somehow
    5. Add another suggestion here.... :)

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I did that to achieve the results i gave in the full review :)

      - G-Helper with a custom power profile (with a -5 CPU undervolt), similar to silent

  • @eladbari

    @2:46 - About -OLED.
    What about burn-in for productivity Apps usage [of course no burn-in will occur in gaming cause the image moves all the time, yet on Photoshop/ Premiere - the UI is constantly there for hours!] And no one talks about this aspect. Manufacturers probably will want you to replace your laptop after 2 years, so they won't care about burn-in.

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  Před 2 měsíci +3

      Burn in is a risk with gaming too, because some UI elements are always on screen (think HP, ammo, minimap outlines, etc.).
      However I think this issue isnt as apparent anymore as it used to be. Modern OLED screens have VERY many tools to prevent burn in (pixel shift, brightness variation, adaptive refresh rate, etc.).
      Since all OLEDs for consumer devices are made by Samsung, all OLED devices get these features as they are made.
      Just look up the Nintendo Switch OLED burn in test from Wulff Den, and you'll see how much of a non issue this has become :)

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  Před 2 měsíci

      That's a hard choice, but i think the G14 is slightly better. They have the same SDR brightness, and while the M3 gets brighter in HDR content, you just cant get perfect blacks like on an OLED. They're both amazing displays though, and you cant go wrong with either one imo.

      Macbook pro uses miniled with >100% colors(not sure the right word but lets just say having higher than 100% is worse than having 1% less in term of accuracy)
      While zephy uses oled with 99-100% colors

    @3:02 - I still wonder if having an UBER OLED screen like that- will go against us when editing color for pictures + videos. We might see an insane image on this OLED, but when you will share it online and people watch it on their lower-tier screens - they will see a washed out image with little saturated colors, since our OLED screens showed us this super high contrast+colors out of the box, so in a way OLED may lie to us...
