  • 12 000 Euro, that's the price for the letter "S". Not sure if I would by the letter.
    But the depreciation of the S model in the Swedish market is much lower compared to the base model.
    But what a year I have had to find the true midengine sports car from Porsche.
    In this video, I also take a look at some options and split an orange.

    I think you nailed it. The move to flat 4 broke the link to the 911 and announced the 718 is its own thing. It’s not the 911 little brother or poor mans 911. It is a unique Porsche for those who appreciate a mid engine, smaller, lighter car. At this point the lines are very different. The lack of this being a “ discounted” 911 is driving a lot of the 911 fanboys crazy, IMO. I think the criticism of the sound, interior and 4 cyl is ranting by a group of people who now need to fork over a few more bucks to be real 911 owners rather than posers in 981s. I love this new car because the performance is much improved and it no longer a 911 consolation prize. To all the ranters. If you don’t like it, STFU and buy a 911. You need to move on...LOL.

    The S gives you sport pedals. Also the variable turbo that eliminates the lag in the base. The S worked best for me because I could not get the alcantera out of the GTS without $5k over the S. S w PASM, Sport Chrono, and PVT are on my 19 Boxster.

    • @JankoLind
      @JankoLind  Před 5 lety +2

      Hi Max, I was under the impression that the variable turbo is used in the base model as well. Could you please provide me with a link of this information, love when I learn more. Thanks for the help and for your subscription.

      @@JankoLind www.porsche.com/usa/models/718/718-boxster-models/718-boxster-s/ Look at Notable features section and you note the VTG turbo on the S not base. Variable Turbine Geometry. The delta is buried in the specification. Look at the same for the base and no VTG. VTG spools the turbo off at 1.5 in my Boxster S. No lag at all. I drove the base when shopping, and could drive around the lag by keeping rpm over 2500. I like the seemless pull of the S.

    Excellent points, Janko! My base 718 Boxster is by far the most fun car I've ever driven, and the extra HP of the "S" model would just mean speeding tickets, here in northern California. And even with the hairpin bends on the coastal roads, this mid-engine car turns so quickly and easily, that for me at least, rear wheel steering or torque vectoring are not necessary.

      You do get dual pipes exhaust on the S model in comparison to the base... Thanks for watching and subscribing.

    Ok I'm at 2:15 and I'm convinced you are pulling our legs. Yanko this car is a travesty. The engine sounds horrible. Porsche got lazy. They should have brought in another smaller new model and put this turbo thing in that and left the Cayman alone. To hell with "progress".

      This comment did not age well after one minute. The S and 2.5 old GTS are faster than a 4.0.
