  • On a warm Tuesday evening at Shea, the Mets (37-30) take on the Twins (34-33) before a crowd of 37,319. John Maine gets the start for the Mets, pitching brilliantly for 7 and 1/3 innings allowing only 1 earned run while striking out 4. Offensively, the Mets are powered by homeruns from Carlos Delgado and Ricky Ledee. David Wright also chips in with 3 hits in 5 at-bats.

For those wondering, I don’t have the Santana game from the next day.

A Mets team that should have had more success than they did. Willie Randolph could NOT relax! Love Ron Darling’s commentary … However, the play-by-play is sooooo boring and vanilla.
