The instructions were very clear. I changed my MacBook Pro battery last night which took me approximately 30 mins to change. I am still going through the process of the battery management system. The new battery was just like the old battery and was not difficult to replace. I viewed the video 2-3 times prior to starting the process so I could understand the methods without have to rely so heavily on the video.

Thanks so much for the incredibly clear instructions. I have been afraid for ages to do this procedure as my Macbook is my only computer and even after nearly ten years it has full support, I just updated to Big Sur and it is running smoother than ever, and it is perfectly capable of doing everything I want it to do, so it seemed like an unacceptable risk and my computer is increasingly chained to its power outlet and gets 1.5-2 hours run time on a good day off the battery. Now i'm looking at how relatively simple this is and thinking its well worth it to get the 5 hour+ run time back and keep this thing going for years to come until the M1 equivalents are mature and less outrageously expensive, this has been a great help.

You are very welcome! We work to provide videos for that exact reason, so we can keep more and more Macs going for longer periods of time. Plus we agree, why update/buy a new machine when you can simply upgrade and keep using the older one. There are plenty of machines prior to the M1 that were great when they came out, and are still great even by today's standards, and that's more reason to keep them running. Glad to hear we could help you and encourage you. Good luck with the battery replacement....You got this!

Hey guys thanks a lot for this fantastic video. It was really not too difficult saved my MBP and me a lot of time and money. MBP works proberly after the replacement of the battery. Only 296 loading cycles but 7,5 years of hard lifetime at work. Hope works the same time again.

Instructions are on point, 30 min start to finish. My A1425s battery went from "service battery" to bulging within a week. Used isopropyl alcohol to loosen the adhesive, which worked just fine. However was still incredibly careful(read crapping bricks!) in separating the ballooned battery packs (did not want a fire).

Excellent instructions. I completed this last night without any problems. There are only three batteries instead of the five which came from the Apple factory, but it looks like the overall battery volume is slightly greater than that which originally came with my MBP. Enjoy!

Hey, could you tell me where to get an official battery from, or the name of it? I am living in Mexico and nobody here seems to be able to replace the battery without replacing the whole cover. I have never ever done anything like this before- would it be a terrible idea to try? Thanks

    • @murd777
      @murd777 Před 4 lety

Pharoah Hendrix There is no original battery. The only place you could get an “Original battery” is directly from Apple and they don’t sell parts. Any battery you find online is not original.

      Hey Long Nguyen,
We have some troubleshooting steps here that you can follow and may help.
The first thing I would recommend doing would be resetting the System Management Controller. Resetting the System Management Controller (or SMC) in a Mac can be a useful way to troubleshoot various kinds of problems that arise, typically related to power issues or issues that coincide with new hardware being installed in the computer. Detailed instructions on performing a SMC reset can be found on Apple's website here: support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295
After resetting the SMC, I would also want to perform a NVRAM or PRAM reset. This can be done with the following instructions:
      PRAM Reset:
      1) Start the machine while holding down the Option-Apple-P-R keys
      2) Wait until you hear the 3rd startup chime, then let go of the keys and let the machine boot up.
Lastly, we would want to go through a proper conditioning cycle, to help the battery reach its maximum lifespan. This process will help calibrate the battery and extend the full charge life. You can find this process with detailed instructions on our Battery Conditioning Guide: eshop.macsales.com/Tech/manuals/newertech/batteries/batteryconditioning_r1w.pdf
If these steps fail to work in getting your battery performing up to specs, please let me know and we can look into this issue further for you.
      Thanks!

The one I replaced with with then had a "service battery" notice so I got another brand new battery and installed it and it still says "SERVICE BATTERY" I have checked the battery cycle count and its on 1 so I can't think of why it would need servicing and the battery life does not last Long at all.
