CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Lt. Cdr. Galloway (Demi Moore) endures Col. Jessep's (Jack Nicholson) insults as she tries to question him.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this military courtroom drama based on the play by Aaron Sorkin, Navy lawyer Lt. Daniel Kaffee (Tom Cruise) is assigned to defend two Marines, Pfc. Louden Downey (James Marshall) and Lance Cpl. Harold Dawson (Wolfgang Bodison), who are accused of the murder of fellow leatherneck Pfc. William Santiago (Michael de Lorenzo) at the U.S. Navy base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Kaffee generally plea bargains for his clients rather than bring them to trial, which is probably why he was assigned this potentially embarassing case, but when Lt. Commander JoAnne Galloway (Demi Moore) is assigned to assist Kaffee, she is convinced that there's more to the matter than they've been led to believe and convinces her colleague that the case should go to court. Under questioning, Downey and Dawson reveal that Santiago died in the midst of a hazing ritual known as "Code Red" after he threatened to inform higher authorities that Dawson opened fire on a Cuban watchtower. They also state that the "Code Red" was performed under the orders of Lt. Jonathan Kendrick (Kiefer Sutherland). Kendrick's superior, tough-as-nails Col. Nathan Jessup (Jack Nicholson), denies any knowledge of the order to torture Santiago, but when Lt. Col. Matthew Markinson (J.T. Walsh) confides to Kaffee that Jessup demanded the "Code Red" for violating his order of silence, Kaffee and Galloway have to find a way to prove this in court. A Few Good Men also features Kevin Bacon as prosecuting attorney Capt. Jack Ross and Kevin Pollak as Kaffee and Galloway's research assistant, Lt. Sam Weinberg.

She is great. He tried to make her uncomfortable with his sexualized story so she would not ask the question again. She acted like it didnt even happen. Good scene.
Good scene? Great Scene...
It's hard to say, honestly. I've long interpreted this scene as being a display of Jessup's twisted mind. While we may initially see it as creepy, Jessup may have been trying to flatter her into letting him go. "Hey, I LOVE empowered gals, LOVE 'em. TOO hot, whew! You're awesome! Don't you want an ally like me here?" Again, this would show his HUGE ego, lack of self-awareness and corruption (since he's literally trying to flatter his way out of legal trouble).
Jessup's story and treatment of Galloway also forces Kaffee to reconsider his earlier quip ("Wow, I'm sexually aroused, Commander.") and behavior towards her.
I think it's Demi's best Role and Movie. Extremely Professional in this.
"...I eat breakfast 300 yards from 4,000 Cubans who'r trained to kill me."
Didn't this fucking guy had some of the best lines in the history of fucking motion pictures?!?!
Its like a Varsity team captain saying.... I eat breakfast in front of a highly trained preschool who are trained to drool on me..... Comparing cuba to the US.... what a joke... wooptie fucken doo.....
He just disrespects everyone, yet keeps telling how he deserves respect.
He is a marine officer aftall
He IS covering up a murder just so you know.
The US is currently run by a bunch of hypocritical narcissists like that. Fictional stories have their roots in reality.
it's called a military bearing lol obviously you never served so stfu.
Neal X Gaming It’s a Hollywood movie. Hollywood is full of perverts and pedophiles.
"You know it just hit me. She outranks you Danny".....
Yes sir.
@Sam Lim my guess is, he used it as a means to demean her. I bet you he knew exactly whom and what each of them were prior to the meeting.
What ranks were they?
1:26 Having seen this movie so many times, I noticed that THIS was the moment after hearing what Jack was saying, Tom's character found the weakness he could exploit. He had a look as though "I know exactly who I am dealing with and what his flaw is. Pride"
0:35 Even Danny couldn't believe the words coming out of Col. Jessop's mouth at that moment.
Jack Nicholson is fucking savage. He was a thug in this movie . Seems like this Character was only made for him. Respect Boss Man
Yes he is my friend. Yes he is.
Whos the savage
"Take caution in your tone, commander."
+Tommy Stedham . . . LOL! I WISH a man would "instruct" me of that. Take caution of my high heel in your nutsack. ::winks::
Funny, but trying doing that with Jack, and you'll just end up with a broken foot from his balls of steel.
Dr. M. R. Moriolé, Ed.D That's why Galloway is better than most people in handling that situation. She saw the trap and sidestepped it. You on the other hand would've been court marshalled
“I’m a fair guy but this fuckin’ heat is making me absolutely crazy “ 😂
+Baraldi Gnegne I bet he would be the same even in 🇳🇴
Without Nicholson this movie would be mediocre. He makes the movie.
Afterburner now you CAN handle the truth
Afterburner and cruise tbh
Cruise makes the movie. Everyone else is very good though. I watched this after I enlisted and thought this was what the Marine Corps was like...Bacon has a non reg haircut and Sutherland talks back to a LtCol as a second Lt. That would end his career right there I would assume. But they were all shady characters so who knows. Marines also don’t make a habit of using first names, does happen at very senior levels, but a Col. would use Caffeys ranks as a way to degrade him if he was pissed.
He was the movie
Naah, great movie but Nicholson is important that is true.
nicholson what an actor one of the best of all times
He definitely has potential!!
Kendrick laughing in the background made this scene real.
Exactly my fav part of this scene. Keifer plays a good scumbag. .. Watch An Eye For An Eye if you haven’t seen it
I don't think Jack Nicholson needs any heat, to go absolutely crazy.
Jack is a savage on this role he owns it
So great when she interrupts him and he just goes on not disturbed in the least.
“Don’t think you can come down here, flash a badge, and make me nervous.” followed immediately by putting a cigar into his mouth, which as we know, nicotine is an addictive drug that helps calm the nerves.
I get it, it’s cinematic effect that projects confidence….Im just over analyzing here lol
Good point i always thought the same he says by asking him all these questions won't make him nervous yet he appears to be very nervous
People say jack Nicholson is the greatest actor, I will say he is the greatest magician of the acting world
Jack Nicholson is the fuckin man
yep
back in '08, nicholson endorsed Hillary for president. now i see why.
Lmao
Bwahahaha !!! Well done
The Kernel in this movie certainly would not have, just like he would not in the current or any future election.
Yep, I was working in news at the time. We saw the pro-Hillary commercial featuring this clip with Nicholson approving it at the end.
Yeah and now all you conservatives who just hate the fact that most actors aren't, are busy giving blowjobs to Putin. Great call.
Here's so good he sells the hell if even the creepiest of lines.
Demi Moore is so fucking gorgeous in this movie.
Jack, Tom, Moore. Three movie stars at the same table. Movie history
Whenever I hear the Colonel saying "Danny" I can't help but imagine him being Jack Torrence talking to a grown-up Danny Torrence
One of the best scenes in this film...most memorable as well
Bad ass dialogue! Most male actors can't provide a classic verse as Jack did throughout their entire careers
"My problem is, I'm a colonel so I'll just have to go on taking cold showers until they elect some gal president."
... What about a female general?
***** I didn't know that either. Interesting.
There are, but during the time they made this movie in the 90's there weren't many (if at all) any female generals, much less Marine Corps female generals that Jessip would interact with regularly.
One of the best punchlines ever if I heard any, cuz the chances of a gal being elected president is very, very slim to none (and please don't say Hillary Clinton will be soon cuz I highly doubt that will happen).
Every commanding officer regardless of branch has a general or flag officer that they report to. For COs, their boss is usually a 1 or 2 star general or admiral.
WilHiteWarrior Since this movie was made, there have been at least three female Marine generals-one of them who was CO at Paris Island.
When the bully says don't think you can make me nervous, he's nervous.
"All passion and no street smarts", she totally proved it here.
blockmasterscott yeah but in a way she inadvertently planted the seed for Jessups downfall
They left out the best part where Tom Cruise looks at Demi Moore and says:... let’s go
It took him all morning to figure out she out ranked him?
In his case he didnt give a shit. He out ranked the universe, so only after the going back and forth did he bother...
Actually, they went to Cuba a day after they met in her office. Also, he probably didn't think it was a question that needed answering. It wasn't a matter of rank at that point. He was just irritated and wanted to leave.
They only met briefly that morning
That's because he wasn't checking out her shoulder bars on her uniform. He was focused on the size of her breasts.
He’s deliberately ignoring her question and trying to rattle her. He knew she outranked Kaffe before they got there
Shoot, if that's what happens to Nickelson in the heat, imagine what it does to him in the cold. Oh wait, we already know that 🥶
Great scene especially when they all start laughing at the same time.
He's actually pretty insecure.
He is a man of power and clearly flaunts it. Plenty of people like him. Thing is he also talks to higher-ups in a disrespectful manner, case and point the Judge when he was on trial when calling his Honor by his name.
He was feeling the heat! .. He was nervous!! 🤣
Jessep : I will just have to go on taking cold showers until they elect some gal president.
Galloway: or we could demote you.💀
And at videos end, straight down to the comments section. Every time. Lol
Those who want respect, give respect.
He would get SARPed so quick today😂😂😂
nicholson can play characters i like and root for and he's just as good at playing characters i absolutely loathe
"Promote them all, I say."
Nicholson dominates these scenes. He has such gravitas!
He's an all time legend
jack killin it with that hair bad boy
I have to watch this again, just because of Jack Nicholson.
What an actor.
He'd be sending Kamala flowers😂😂😂
She who laughs last, laughs best
Jack Nicholson plays the character so well that you can't help but like him and most of the things he says are on point, however... He let two of his enlisted men take the fall for an order he gave, which makes him a scumbag and a hypocrite.
You think you can fool a Corleone?
the best acting role by Jack N-n
Back when this movie came out, I always thought COL Jessep was the bad guy. Now after serving in the military for more than 15 years, I can say COL J has a point to all of this and changed my perspective about him.
Brandon Koay Why?
My son agrees to an extent. He is a veteran, US Army, 11 Bravo.
My son would never allow innocent men to be convicted of murder.
Jack Nicholson. What a guy.
Jack Nicholson is totally underrated....
Not really he has won multiple oscars, and someone like Leonardo De caprio has not won one.
Dicaprio.... He never won an award?!?!
Really????....... Give me twenty.
***** tom cruise, really? tom cruise?
Ray Winstone, Matt Dillon. oh man, are you serious?
Fair enough.... I think k Matt Dillon should have won an award for The Outsiders but idk.
The irony of the marines being such hard asses when the only thing that mattered at that time was nuclear weapons, not who can do the most push ups, is quite something when you think about it.
America needs more Code Reds. Circa 2022.
Jack nicholson the greatest american actor ever
Viorel Chira He is very good not better then Brando, but I love Jack, especially in this movie.
undoubtedly, its mind blowing scene
How did Tom not get an oscar for this movie?!
Reham fouad cuz he can't handle the truth jack is far better than him
Because he's a whacky dipshit Scientologist
I can somehow sense the Colonel is lying. That's how great Jack Nicholson is
Morning salute, i just got that sexual reference today 🤣
Ice cool outside but red hot inside. His control over dialogues, his calm delivery and facial expressions were awesome in this movie. You would want him to not stop talking and just listen. How did Gene Hackman won Best Supporting Actor in 1992 over this piece of acting?
This guy is way more arrogant than his position warrants
Right on Jack
Brilliant scene!
Jack, the Man.
Jack Nicholson has a devilish green and is fit for any villain character. He has no innocent face.
This is my favorite scene in the movie.
Great Response Officer !
0:50 He is aware that there are four, and even possibly five ranks above colonel, right?
Perhaps he just thinks a female President is more likely than a female general in the USMC.
@@theradgegadgie6352 But there have been many female generals and not a single female president...
@@KingOfShadows1500 I'd be willing to bet the Marine Corps had the fewest of them. And I did say, "perhaps he thinks...." Jessop is an arsehole.
Yeah, none of whom are seated at this table. What's your point?
@@craniostomy My point is that he didn't need to wait until a woman was made president; he could have saluted any female general officer ''in the morning''.
"This fucking heat is making me crazy." lol
My buddy and I used to run across the street just to salute a really smokin hot female Marine Lt. haha I know what he means.
Lol. Really? I have never seen such hot female marines.
Im still trying to replicate her hairstyle in this move.
Nowadays, his comments about her would be completely out of line because of SHARP.
That's true, she outranks him
Great scene! Great movie!
"All female officers will be required to wear....TINY MINISKIRTS!!!"
1:00 Whoa, I agree. Her tone was WAY out of line.
Demi was gorgeous back then
Jack Nicholson should have been The Wolverine.
He played Wolverine in everything but name in Wolf
yup, for Jack it's been there did that.
Code Red, you don't need to know about Code Red...
Just realized we eat breakfast at the same place
22 people are nervous.
He runs his unit into a superior officer.
I am fairly sure that last statement would get movie wrap in todays world
But she DID make him nervous!
You already know who you're having lunch with and their ranks. If he forgot he would get a refresh watching them walk to the table. So no he didn't just realize nor did he not notice. You don't reach colonel not knowing who you're speaking to. Film script writing error, unless Jack ad libbed.
Great acting
There's a *tigress* behind those green eyes of hers... or she's just a really good actor... either is good for bedroom chemistry, eh wot? ;')
So how many of you are not letting the best things of life pass you by?
Does prefacing ‘on the record’ vs ‘off the record’ really make a difference in this case? Lol, it looks like Jessep is just laying his while hand out.
My fav moment!!! You have to ask me nicely..
Wow, this colonel is like threatening military officers....
Nicholson...Legendary...
Amazing movie
Can anyone explain why Colonel Jessup said what he said in this scene?
He is the antagonist. This lays the ground work for the movie. He is a narcissist ...he covered up some of the events so he views this as an attack. He is trying to intimidate the investigators to keep his "attackers" at bay... any way he knows how. He views himself as "above the law" because of his authority. Also, it is entertaining. Watch the movie, you will be glad you did.
StevieSparkZ aside from rigidly being bound to his duty, code and beliefs, Jessup enjoys watching people squirm. having power and control over people (which he likely got from being a Marine) is fun to him. he does it because he can and especially because he knows there's nothing they can do about it too.
are you military?
+StevieSparkZ . . . He's an asshole with an ego problem and a receding hairline. ::winks::
I have never seen a sexual harassment as perfect + gentle(?) as this one.
Viper the Vampire Checking In......👽👻🤨😉
Interesting thing is: The Colonel is right. He did act the wrong way(the PFC should not turn up dead) but all of his points are legit and true.
He starts to come across as (misogynist) raised to -1 and finally shows his true colors as a misogynist proper :)
So don’t think for one second pffffff
. . . And he was nervous 😅
Guys he’s a fair guy he said.
Go to Guantanamo making Jessup upset, the said.
Am I the only one who feel disgusted by the way of treating Moore's character.
This is a scumbag hypocrite who demands respect while treating others without even the slightest portion of decency.
I guess that jack Nicholson did a great job to actually hate him in that film
You’re supposed to feel disgusted by the way Jack treats Demi.
He wasn't in the business of being fair.
Not at all. It's an accurate depiction of sexism in the military too. In fact, female servicemembers routinely hear worse than his bullshit here. Idk about now tho; I got out 10 years ago. Maybe woke culture has helped some, I have no idea.
