Maintaining the cavernous vocals over a new blackened death metal sound = a very unique (slight) turn for them and I'm here for it.
Purchased this one today. Very good album, certainly their catchiest release to date, the slight BM influence suits em well.

Good old Witch Vomit with a smidgen blackness and perhaps their most technical and yes "ambitious " . CD arrives today!
After heavily enjoying the previous couple of releases from this band I was pretty hesitant going into this record based off of the singles. However, upon fully listening to the album multiple times today I know for sure that this is a fantastic record, and the production style changes really make a difference with the more progressive yet cold atmosphere on display here. Great record, highly recommended!

Amazing review! I really enjoyed previous outings from WV but I agree this one may be their best. I also agree they always nail it with the runtime. Buried Deep was 27 min, this one is 30, they truly don’t have any filler. The comparison with Dissection plus a bit of Incantation was also spot on. Keep it up!
Other death metal bands should take note: nothing kills an album faster than an album overstaying its welcome.
Great album, you’re spot on! The new album from Hour of Penance is also worth checking out for some crushing brutality!

Checked it out before watching the review. I thought it was pretty solid. 3 to a 3.5 for me.
Now if Chris Barns was on vocals, I think that would have completed the experience.

This is assuredly their magnum opus. Much of their older albums/ep's are quite inconsistent as far as production. Although the songs are great they are hit or miss.
THIS though.... Viciously melodic and fusing many memorable structures, intertwined with quite catchy riff ideas. Superb production too. I can finally hear the vocals!
PS- I'm going to witness their pure, wretching brutality live in L.A on May 2!!

While previous records didn't grab me (they were too bland), this new Witch Vomit record managed to grab me this time around! Love the blackened influences on this new album.
