I know the original was released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1996 but I never played it until I bought it and downloaded it on the Wii Virtual Console, New Nintendo 2DS XL Virtual Console and Wii U Deluxe Virtual Console and I can not wait for the remake on the Nintendo Switch.

@@brijor6ff7 Toadstool is the best healer in any RPG ever. Her normal healing also heals status effects and her res costs as much as a normal heal and can fully heal with an easy timed press. She just outclasses him. If you are using both then they fight over FP since it's shared by the party.

@@bryankidd3966 I feel, you mate. Super Mario RPG, then Chrono Trigger, then Final Fantasy VI. Those were my first RPGs. And boy did I enjoyed the heck out of them!
So many secrets, so many details, so much awesomeness packed in those cartridges.
From then on, I was hooked, and been RPGing since then.

I’m really looking forward to the new soundtrack, funnily enough. I’ve really gotten into kicking back and just listening to music, and I enjoy swapping over to some of my favorite video game soundtracks when I’m in the mood for some simple ambience.
I was only listening to this video and it wasn't until Jirard said it slowly that I realised he was saying "timed hit", I heard "time tit" and was praying it was like a bird which gave out time challenges 😂

I love the expanded visuals. Filling in more of the previously black areas outside of the map, level & battle areas just adds to the feel of this version of the Mushroom Kingdom feelimg more cohesive.
So excited for this game. I still listen to the forest maze music often on youtube. I was sick for a week when I played it as a kid, so it always reminds me of being bundled up at my old home when I hear it.

I would have rathered Nintendo just release Mario RPG on its on-line service and make a sequel for the Switch. Having to pay $60 for a very utilitarian remake is pretty lame.
All of these SNES game remakes give you the option to listen to the original music.
I never hot to play the original, because it came out before I was born, but I've seen playthroughs and so far, this looks incredibly faithful to it. At the same time I love the modern conveniences and other stuff they've added to make it more accessible to new players. I can't wait to see just how well they mesh together.

@@joshuaharris1184 I do think retro games aren't really as good if you didn't grow up playing them and there isn't a Nostalgia factor. Obviously not for every game because there are some legit good retro games. Very few Gen-z would like retro games if it wasn't for their dad/uncle/older bro etc etc.

Me and my wife can't wait for this one to come out. She's never played / seen a playthrough of Super Mario RPG, and I've been dying to replay it for ages.
I'm hoping I can convince my wife to do the playthrough! Goodness knows I've played the dang thing enough times, it'll be fine if I just watch and coach.

Basically my favorite game of all time
I was so excited when I heard difficulty option. But turns out it’s only easy and normal when the normal mode is probably already easy. What’s with Nintendo and their lack of accessibility with difficulty in games?’

From what I've seen/heard, I really love the new art and music. I'm looking forward to seeing more and just having a new reason to play the game again.

also did you know that there is a fan made rom hack of super mario rpg? its called the "Armageddon mod" it has more enemies, character skill reworks, new superbosses. (from the FF series) and a whole lot of new post game content! you should check it out b4 the final release of the remaster.
The original was the first RPG I ever played! And I loved it so much! Glad it's getting a shiny new remake!

The timed hit indicators stop once the game realizes you understand when to hit the button, but return if you start missing it a lot.
I have good news. You can actually change the party members during the battle in the remake!

I really hate Nintendo’s decision that Mario games need a sterile minimalist ui. Hated it in the switch Mario Party games, and still hate it here. I wish I didn’t feel that way and just could enjoy it but I care about design and font choice too much.
I love this art style. And I got to be real the old pixel isometric one always made my eyes and brain hurt cause, for me personally,
the view just blended together in a way that seemed to have made it like a solid photo and not something with any depth. And this style helps
me with that in an immense way. Really, Really, looking forward to this game.
I imagine the platforming will be much easier with 3D graphics and better shadows
ive always gone mario peach bowser too, theyre the most fun for me. but i was planning to go mario mallow geno, because theyre great characters too. also, thanks for explaining the chaining system, i thought all the damage numbers seemed extra high from the trailers/gameplay id seen, and now i know why.

I remember having my mind blown when I learned about the secret Culex boss fight and wondering which _Final Fantasy_ game he was from.
I was wondering that as well.
This is only my second rpg I ever played ( Chrono Trigger was my first) so it holds a pretty special place in my heart. However I'm just waist deep in Baldurs Gate 3 right now, so I'm not considering getting it anytime soon, but I'm very happy with it and think it's gonna be a great time

It's almost time to be Geno again! I'm looking forward to this! There aren't many games that make me want to play the games outside of my PC but this is one!
I'm definitely so looking forward to this remake that's going to be released on the day of my 29th birthday. I'm sure it will be as critically acclaimed as the original!

Hmm the Mallow thing is kind of a bummer and it raises a question in my mind regarding enemies like the Hammer Bros. Mario only fights them once in the story before he meets Mallow right? How would you get to scan them?

As someone who also cried when I saw this trailer I gotta say the thing I am most hyped for is actually just that now more people can experience what I have, and that someday soon I'll get to share it with my niece and nephew.
I was hoping for a hard mode (and not just the boss rush after the main game). The snes game was super easy. Still fun but very easy. And these new features like chaining and hit all, plus the special meter in the corner is just going to make the game even easier unless normal difficulty has been adjusted. I'm still getting this game, but I feel that if this game is beloved by so many and going to have alot of returning veterans, I think a hard mode could go a long way.
I’m hoping there is an unlockable hard mode after beating the main story in normal mode, but yeah I definitely wish there was one from the start.
One of the hardest things about the game is that the item descriptions were terrible. You can be a lot more powerful than most people realize.
For example, Troopa Pin gives you permanent +50% Attack power. And Ghost medal cuts all damage taken in half. Geno Boost does both.
Also, Bowser's best armor is Work Pants for most of the game. And the +10 Attack it gets means it's still worth using over his best armor, which only gets +9 more Defense.

I haven’t played the original game but I am very excited to try this version out. One thing that I really don’t like however is that only Mario appears on the overworld. I feel like everyone on your team should follow behind you. I understand that maybe the original couldn’t handle it but I would have loved for the remake to change this.
