These were "exactly" the right instructions. I'd spent close to an hour attempting to follow the key fob manufacturer's lengthy directions for programming the remote without any luck. This took no more than a couple of minutes. Wonderful job...thank you!!
Your instructions are much simpler than the manufacturer's instructions, and they worked for my 2009 Subaru Forester. Thank you!
Best part about this video is that he links to the pages he holds in his hands. Props and thanks for that - great site and resource.
Thanks, xBeau. Worked like a champ on my '05 Forester. Gotta turn the key 10X fast. I was going too slow in my earlier attempts.
These instructions worked perfectly on our 2005 SAAB 9-2x (which is actually a Subaru Impreza mechanically). I've tried several other videos, but yours is the one that worked flawlessly. Thanks!
This was really helpful. Thank you for making this so straightforward. Nicely done.
Thanks XBeau, this was just what I needed, I think. Good work and time well spent.
No worries, glad to help
Great vid. Super helpful. FYI all, only two key fobs can be programmed to the car at any given time. Took me a few mins to figure that out.
Super useful video! I found the fob from my old forester and was able to reprogram within seconds to my new forester because the new fob got damaged! Was sooo close to ordering a new one off of amazon too, thanks so much!!
Ryan Rahimly Glad to help, and I'm sure you made better use of that 150 bucks to let the dealer do this right ;)
You know it my man, thanks again!! :)

Questions:
1. If you'll change the battery of your remote, is this process still required?
2. How about if you replace the car battery?
Thanks
You make it look easy, you have completely de-mystified the process. Thank you.
You've made me a content man today. I'm just gonna leave it at that
Thanks! Your video on reprogramming the Subaru Key Fob really helped to stop my stress level!
Bro really tipped
subaru dealer said they couldnt program remotes i found at a junk yard that i would have to buy new remotes at ridiculous prices. thank to you i saved me hundreds of dollars.
Worked perfectly for both my key fobs on my 2005 RS impreza, thank you!
Glad to help buddy!
This is the video!
If you’re having trouble making this work the trick for my 2007 Subaru based on this video was opening and closing the doors after every step!
Thank you for posting this!
Awesome! Manufacturers instructions didn’t work, yours did! Thank you
Same here!
Thanks for the video! I just programmed a new remote for my 2005 STI.
Amazing! Worked for the Subaru 2005 Forester.
Better than doing the lock unlock codes.
I finally figured it out!!! :))
--IF YOU DON'T HEAR THE HORN SOUND AFTER TURNING KEY X10--TRY ROLLING DOWN YOUR WINDOW BEFORE YOU START THE PROCESS. IN MY CASE, THE SPEAKER WAS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR, AND YOU CAN'T HEAR IT WITH THE WINDOWS UP.
Story,
I was honestly a bit relieved to hear that i wasn't the only person who was having the problem where you turned the key 10 times in attempts to get to the "activation mode". I also noticed that a lot of people were saying that if you don't hear the sound, then to proceed anyways (which is true). however, it actually was there the entire time...it's just on the exterior speaker of the car; and NOT THE INTERIOR.
Worked great on my 04 wrx.. tip turn the key fast as he does 10 times . I was doing slower and wasn’t getting the beep. Thankssss
Very helpful. Thank you
I did on second attempt. The key MUST be turn on-off fast as the video!
Thank you for your help.
Keep up the good contents
This One bit. Helped 👏🏼
🙏🏼
Worked a charm with my 2005 Saab 9-2X, which is a rebadged Impreza! Thank you!
If you are having any trouble like i was it might be your trunk. I have 2 10 inch rockford fosgate subs in my 05 wrx and it knocked my trunk locking mechanism loose so i had to get it rewelded on. So it depressed it enough to show that all my doors were closed but not enough to where if i hit the lock button on my remote it wouldn't honk any more just showing flashing lights signaling it was still open and id just give the trunk a tap then it would flash again signaling it was locked. So i opened my trunk shoved a screwdriver through 1 side of the latch keeping the button depressed. Then gave the sytem program a try and it worked the 1st time after a week of trying.
I reprogrammed a fob for a 2006 Subaru ... it didn't work exactly like this, but it worked. Be patient. The dealership was going to charge $75 to do it, and the best locksmith price was $35. Thanks for the instructions!
Hi, how did you do it ?
@@estebangiovanniello4927 Same question, what was different for you? I'm having a heck of a time here!
So much easier to do then the print out subaru gave me! Thank you!!!
Thanks bro! This worked for my 05 Impreza! Thanks for sharing!
I bought a generic one on Amazon for my 05 Subaru Forrester and this worked perfectly!! Thank you! The website that came with the fab wanted my credit card info and I didn't want to do that.
Does the trunk feature on your Fob work? I have 2005 Impreza RS too. doesn't seem to have a power actuator on the trunk lock. just the old style release handle inside.
The only video that was the good procedure for my 2005 sti.
Thx
Yo thank you very much for this my key fob stopped locking my car and now since you put this video up I can drive my car and park it knowing I can set the alarm again thank you so very much my friend.
thank you so much!!! very important to turn the key on-off very fast. i tried several times, and finally it worked. another difference: you had chimes and green light on the dashboard, i had horn beeping. and another thing, that they did not explain, when you press unlock to program unlock, open-close driver door, then press lock, etc.
my original remote only has unlock button working, and i failed to fix the lock button. well, it is important i have a spare that can unlock me if i lock the keys inside.
2006 Tribeca B9 worked a little differently. Mix between this and using the door to enter the Fob key number twice.
I've tried to follow the instructions from the programtheremote.com site about 4 times with the fob I bought on Amazon. It didn't work. Can you explain what you did? Thanks!
Awsome! These instructions worked for my 2002 Outback!!
Worked like a charm! Thanks so much!
Worked perfectly. Thank you.
Thanx very much , got it on the first try. This is the simplest way I have found so far👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks for the post!
Worked great on my 2006 forester xt using a 2008 Legacy FOB off Amazon.
The only difficult part was that I had to use the lock/unlock to enter the ID#.
That with the method of hitting the lock button for the number and the unlock to go to the next number
Great video but what about the subaru wagon model does the button need to be programed as well for the rear door
Hi, this is an older video so I really hope you'll get this. I did this video a couple days ago exactly and
It worked, but today I went to start my car and it wouldn't start. I then noticed it was in valet mode. I checked youtube as well as my user manual and it would not come out of valet mode. At first the new remote was still letting me lock and unlock, but now it's not even doing that and my power locks aren't working either. I have to physically flip the locks. I also hear a weird clicking noise in the on the passengers side. And there is a continuous honk. Not loud like the alarm, but similar to the honking in the video and it keeps happening every few seconds. I was hoping you might have an idea I could try so I wouldn't have to get my car towed to Subaru. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi man!!! Nice video! How many controls can I program in my car? I have one key working and I want another one. Is the car will work with both? Thanks a lot!!!
Will this be the same programming instructions for a 2008 impreza? The one video i saw includes a bunch of numbers and looks complicated to do. Thanks
Thanks worked as a charm on a 05 sti
Same vehicle. Worked perfect for me!
for an 07 forester does it unlock the boot as well when you use the new fob??
This worked on my 2005 Subaru Forester. Thanks
Glad to help
I have 06 impreza 2.5i wagon and I’ve tried two different set of instructions and nothing works, would this work on that model?
Will this work for a 2011 Impreza? I have the same remote that you are showing.
thank you bro, it worked on my car, same 05 impreza RS.
I know this has worked for so many people but I am struggling here hard! I know the FOB works because I got it from a reputable source that I've purchased ones for other cars in the past (plus, I've now tried three different FOBS - at this point I should just hire a locksmith but now I'm determined!). I have an '09 forester. I get all the right beeps and sounds but the remote just doesn't work. I'm wondering if there's some setting I turned off somewhere that disables any FOB access? Something to do with the alarm maybe? Open to any and all ideas! Thanks!
Nice job! Thanks so much as it got mine working.
Do I have to program my stock one with the new one?
Worked great took about 30 seconds vey good video
how and where do i buy it for a subaru impreza hatchback 2012 please help me thank you so much
I thought I did this correctly, my 2005 Subaru wrx beeped when and how it should. When I pressed the fob to use it though, the hazards flashed and the car didn’t lock. What does this mean? Pressed the fob later on standing outside the car and it didn’t work at all.
hi, would this work for a Subaru forester 2009> I don't the manual on the description to read. thanks
Evelise Gomes did it work?
Succint, informative, helpful. Thanks!
Will this work on my 09 Forester and will the old remote fobs still work. Thanks for your reply.
A GM did it work??
I can’t get into programming mode with the ten switches because my key keeps getting stuck. Is there another way? What should I do?
what happens if you have an alarm does this also set alarm and disarm it?
hell yeah bro i made it whild watching the video it worked right away . thanks !
Without you I would be paying $200-$300 just for that simple thing. I appreciate u 💯💯💯💯
Thank you! Worked flawlessly
Yea! I swear this video has cost Subaru dealers millions over the years in lost revenue
I watched another guy's video first......and managed to make the one fob that DID work no longer work. Car alarm went off to boot, and I was like, "WTF?!!"
YOUR video had my new key fob programmed with fewer steps and programmed the very first time!!! THANK YOU!!!!!
Glad to help!
@@xBeauGaming You just earned yourself a subscriber, my friend!!
Does anyone know if the fob he’s using will work on an 03 impreza?
Would this work with an 2005 impreza
Why other original key fob you need to program the 8digit code, how did you do it not using the 8digit code
hello whats is tou cost the controller and where you bought it?
This Boy scares Me! I have done this once and YES,dead Battery!! My question,I am sure will never get answered is this. I have TWO remotes from My old 2003 Outback. I bought a 2005 Impreza RS. Can I program those older remotes to work with the newer 2005 Impreza Rs? Any knowledgeable help would be appreciated. Thanks,Troy.
Thank you .Worked perfect
This finally did it. Thanks!
Does anyone know if this will still work if your car has a turbo timer on it
Will this unlock the alarm so that I can drive the damn thing? I lost my key fob and haven't been able to drive the vehicle
What if my 8 digit code has letters in it?
would this work for a 2011 impreza
Will this fob work for a 2001 forester?
Does remote start still work to for this
Awesome - tried everything - this worked!!!
Can I used the same old one
Same for 2003? I can't get it to work.
Will this work on a 1998 Forester? And where would I find the information sheet you highly recommend
I opened the information sheet from the link that was in the comments.
It was very useful. I just programmed mine.
Does it work on my 09 Forester?
Is there a specific key fob to buy? Recommended site?
Anyone got alpha corp key with bunch of 0s serial number to get programmed?
Thanks sir. Working now!
It worked for me! Very easy too!
Does the actual key itself need to be programmed? you’re just using a blade but I thought that the key itself also needs to be programmed?
I'm not seeing these instructions, not seeing the link except to cars101 which is the ones I pulled pertaining to my 2006 Subaru Forester. Every other instruction has you entering the number using lock/unlock buttons. That's not even getting me past the initial special beep, just the seat belt beep
Thanks for the video. Programmed first try.
Thanks sgain
I`have problem
in forester 2006-2007 this method not work !!!
have pilot with 2 keys = only lock + unlock
help, help, please
Did u managed to fix it?
I have the same problem, this doesn’t work with my forester 2006
Where did u buy the fob?
Hello, i have a subaru forester 2006 and i have 2 remote keys and they sometimes work and sometimes dont unlock the doors so i have to unlock with the key, what can be happening? i just change the battery of the remotes keys and i was checking the fuse but it is ok but still the problem sometimes workk and sometimes not , helppp please
Sometimes the back sides of the actual buttons get worn down, and don't make a proper electrical connection. Try replacing the key fob shell. It can be found on Amazon for around 7 Dollars
It only works for unlocking my driver door not any others... it’ll lock all the doors thought
Any suggestions? I tried programming twice
23daisydew Mine unlocks only the driver's door when you hit it once and all doors if you hit it twice. :)
You saved me 50$ at a dealership besides the 176.00 it costs which I'm keeping my 06 WRX Limited sedan JDM
I wonder sometimes how much cash this video has saved my fellow Subabros
How come the trunk button on my fob doesn’t open the trunk? I get two beeps but nothing opens
Did you ever figure it out?
Very useful. Thanks
can you program 2 key fobs to work?
up to 4
Thank you for posting this video 📹
Hey folks! Question: Can I follow the same steps in this video for a fob that used to work but suddenly doesn’t? Every once in a while it simply won’t work- almost as if another signal is canceling it out. The battery is brand new. Usually it lasts a few hours, but today it was all day. The alarm goes off when I open the locked car with a key. Should I try this video’s approach, even though the fob isn’t new? I’m afraid I’ll mess something up and the alarm will go off without stopping or that the alarm will sound in the middle of the night or something ! Is it worth a try, or is this video only relevant for brand-new fobs only? Thanks!!!!!
It’s a 2012 Subaru Forester by the way.
Thank You for this.
