Thanks George!!! You rock!! Worked perfectly on my two keyfobs I just bought. Saved me a ton of money and time from having to go to a locksmith or dealer.
Your instructions were perfect! I watched other videos but they didn't exactly match the behavior of my car (2008 Impreza WRX) so I wasn't having any success until I found your very clear instructions. I programmed my fob while following your video and was successful on the first try. THANK YOU!
ADVICE IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS: I hope this saves sometime the trouble I went through. I bought this because my old fob would program but wasn’t working. When I went to program the new one, I would get a constant beeping and the car would not accept the new serial number. After a few tries, I realized I still had my old fob with me with the battery in it (even though it no longer functioned). I WAS ONLY ABLE TO PROGRAM THE NEW FOB AFTER I TOOK THE BATTERY OUT OF THE OLD FOB, EVEN THOUGH THE OLD FOB DID NOT WORK AT ALL. Also, as a side point, mine is a 2009 manual Impreza and i did not have to hold my clutch in during the programming process. Hope this helps. Thanks for the video!
Can there be a possibility I can ruin the old key if I register the new key?
@@Ktav95 probably too late now, but no you can program up to 4 fobs to one car.
Still works like a charm as of 3/26/24. Thanks George!!
Hey George. Just programmed an aftermarket Amazon Key fob. Followed your steps….works perfectly. One attempt. One success.
Now , I have a back-up key fob. Thank You George👍
Thank you so much. Bought my fob off Amazon. All the reviews said doesn’t work on Japan models but it does! You are awesome man
Just did this today on my 2014 WRX hatch. Worked perfectly! Thanks a lot for this video!!
Tried this on my 2006 Subaru Sti and it worked. The fob got programmed, thank you.
Awesome step by step instructions... you just save us $300+ the dealership expensive diagnostic appointment (new fob, they said it would take 1hr to reprogramming it) --only took me less than 5mins. well to be honest it took me 5times watching this video... thank you very much for being one honest mechanic.....
Definitely worked, took a few tries, but just follow along! Programmed 2 different remotes too for the same car.. saved a lot of money from not going to the dealership!
Thank you for this! For some reason youtube decided this needs to show up on my home page NOW! Ive been searching for a way to reprogram my fobs for YEARS! Thank you!
Thank you!! Was reading the manual on how to do this and was super confused. This video saved me couple hundred at the dealership for a new fob!
THANK YOU! Haven't had a fob in almost two years. The car didn't come with one and they used dealership key guy couldn't get one to program. I ordered one off amazon with little hope that it would work. I followed your directions and it worked! I don't know why the key fob didn't come with instructions. So glad I didn't have to pay the subaru dealership for a key fob. You're the best!
You are miracle worker! Got an after market fob off Amazon and your instructions worked perfectly thank you
Ones of the best videos I have had the pleasure to use
Thank you for this video! I just reprogrammed my fob and the instructions that same with it weren’t very clearly. Thank you for making this video😇
Great video. Very simple procedure. I did while you were giving the tutorial. Literally took just 2 minutes to do everything. Большое спасибо! 🙂
Will like to say. Because of you I was able to program my keyfob. Thanks a lot. Keep up the good videos.
Thank you so much for this . Worked perfectly for me today with a new replacement fob for a 2012 Forester ($35 fob on Amazon) and saved myself $300 the dealership would have charged for a diagnostic appointment, new fob and reprogramming. DIY success!! (I am no auto expert, maybe a 2 on a scale of 1-10 but I can follow directions from other experts. Thank you so much.)
You don’t understand how much I love you for this
This works great. My problem getting this going was turning on the accessories but not going all the way over to ON 10 times. Thanks for posting this.
Followed my manual and that didn’t work, but I did everything you said on the video and it worked perfectly! Thank you!
I have a 2009 Forrester and got a new key. I watched this video. It completely works. Thank you for putting this out! You saved me $165.
Awesome, very clear instructions. Just tried it and worked as a charm. Thanks
I would definitely recommend taking old key fobs battery out. It didnt work for me, until I took off the battery of old one. After that, just easy to follow along. Great video!
Thank you! Your video was the most helpful! Tried other ways and it wasn’t working but this way did. Daughter is so happy to finally have a working key fob!
Thanks! Mine didn't beep in the beginning to confirm, but continued to follow the process and it worked.
Enormous thank you for sharing this!! I got it to work after 1 attempt. HUGE thanks!! ☺️
Worked for my '09 Forester. Took three tries. Realized I was skipping a step. Thanks a lot!
You are the ONLY person on CZcams that I was able to follow and ACTUALLY get it to work!!!!! You fricken rock! Thanks so much 😭
Yooo! Thank so much!!! Got an upgraded fob for my '06 Tribecca!! Worked out perfectly 👌
Thank You George! Followed your vid, worked great for my 2006 Baja Sport!👍
Heck yeah! Thanks man, was having trouble until I ran across your video!
At first I thought it hadn't worked and I walked out and pressed on the fob and it worked. Thank you for the video!
This worked flawlessly on my 09 WRX, much easier than the enter the code method.
thank you so much for this instructions, I just programming two fobs for my Subaru legacy 2005 and they work perfectly I didn’t have to go to the dealership or locksmith.
Worked perfectly for my 2006 Impreza. Thank you for making this video.
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video. I really appreciate people like you!!!
Also worked for my 09 Forester, can confirm it works. Thank you for the video!
Awesome!! You’re the man! Helped a ton and worked fine! Only video I was successful with! Thanks!!
Thanks George...worked beautifully!
Thanks! Great instructions. I now have two fobs that work.
Worked just fine thanks a bunch saved me 80 bucks 👍🏽
You’re the man, thank you
George, great video. Thanks so much for the precise instruction and visual footage. The directions which were provided with fob were not good at all. We needed and used your advice. Many Thanks.
Great video, it seems that the newer remotes have the code on the back of the fob. Worked like a charm!
This is a keeper! I am buying a new fob because my repaired unit failed.
It is dead. I repaired it once but twice stung, never again...
Worked perfectly! Thanks for posting!
Worked perfectly for a 2012 Forester! Thank you!
I'll be honest. I thought this was a joke. But it actually works. THANK YOU!
Thank you! Worked perfectly on my 06 Impreza base.
Amazing! Worked on first try with these instructions. 2011 Subaru outback sport
As I type in the number it starts locking from the car lock. What should I do
Thank you George, just followed your steps and successfully programmed my spare fob that was not working for the past year!
It works! Thanks so much for this amazing video!! It took me a few times because I think I missed a step but it works with the used remote I bought on eBay!
just did this first try. extremely easy. thank you so much!
WOW. It worked for me. Thanks for saving me over a hundred dollars!!
Seriously saved me with this video. Thank you!
Thanks George, your instructions were great. Darlington, South Carolina
George, you’re awesome! Thank you so much.
Thanks Buddy for this. It works and it helps me to program my new keyfob.💯
This method does work, a little patience is all you need. It only took me 2 tries.
Worked perfectly first try for me with an Amazon key fob on a 2008 Impreza. Thanks.
Thank you for the very simple steps and notes of the chiming. I have an OBXT, the only thing that didn’t match was my dome lights did not come or flash, both the chiming continued.
Thanks a lot for this video, perfect instructions!
❤❤❤ You did make it easier and correctly, some CZcamsrs didn’t make it like you, appreciate you Man…❤❤❤
Dude! You are the man. The manual was garbage. Manual must have been written on a Friday by someone who was hungover. Thank you for this! Worked like a charm.
My car's manual laid out the steps, but had an error, in that it kept referencing step 3, which it never explicitly stated as step 3. 🙄 So between my manual and your video, I got the job done, on the first attempt. Many thanks!
I got a 2008 impreza wrx base model and it worked perfectly 💯
So thankful my friend, i just tried and i make it. Be blessed
Amazing video helped me so much!!
This video did work for our 2013 Subaru Forester with a key fob we got off Ebay! The only thing we needed to change was that we needed to input the Code TWICE . And make sure the lights that are supposed to flashing are on “ Door Lights “ , we had ours off so the first few times we didn’t see lights flashing 😅 .
Well explained, great help video. Thank you
Thank you! Worked like a charm!!!
You're awesome. Out of the other videos out there, none of them showed that after the 10th switch on, you need to turn the key back to the lock position and leave it there. Bought a new fob from Subaru because my old one was on the fritz. Kept thinking I was in valet mode because my 06 WRX wasn't honking, chirping, or cycling the lights, but it was all user error by me not leaving that key at the lock position after the 10th switch.
Since I was struggling with the nuances and not many people have posted for this year of Subaru - With the 2006 WRX there are some differences. The car will let out one long chirp after opening and closing the door, after the 10th switch cycle.
From there it chirps to confirm the entry of each digit. On the re-entry it will chirp repeatedly until you start to re-enter the digits to confirm. After you've confirmed one more long chirp when you open and close the door, and then a short 2-3 chirps when you remove your key from the ignition switch. As with all the other tutorials, test your fob out after the keys are out of the ignition.
David Franklin Hannant hey I have a 2006 wrx. I can’t get nothing after the 10 key turns. Open the door, close it. Turn the key 10x on and off, leave it in the lock position. Open and close it again and nothing chirps
@@aaronburrows44 any solution found????
@@aaronburrows44 I didnt get chime nore dome light flashing... so I just follow through.. completed the steps as accurately as possible.. I tested the remote and is works. Pls try all the step even without chime as it still works.
My lock button doesn't work.. but that bc when I opened the remote the lock button is not solded(its a common issue with key fobs).
Did this with an OEM fob I bought off eBay on my 2008 WRX. Followed your procedure exactly and it worked! Thank you!
I did it in mine 2011 wrx and is not working, can somebody help me
Just got new fobs off Amazon for thirty bucks and they were gonna charge me upwards of 250$ plus 90$ to program them. This was a great tutorial and I appreciate it so much. Worked flawlessly.

I *think* it worked…my unlock button works again! It was an old FOB, so I’m assuming the other buttons just are busted. I’ve a new fob on the way so we will see…thank u!
Thanks buddy! That really made it easy 🙂
Life saver!!!! Thank you!
Thanks it worked perfect 🙌🏻🙏🏼
Awesome! I can't believe I did it on my own lol.
IT WORKS. Just did it to my 2006 Legacy GT. I just upgraded my key fob to a newly design style. I did the steps like in the video and paired my new fob and attempt to do the next fob and that one works too. So this was a success.
Thank you
Helped me out, thanks!
Worked perfectly on my 05 legacy 2.5i. Just like top comment says though, remove the battery from the old fob.
Thanks! You have a great way of explaining things.
5🌟 on 2008 subaru wrx. (My key fob was used from another car) Thanks.
