    love this, short tutorial on a very specific feature. No intros, no sponsors, no talking about why you should use texture painting in Blender and not for example in Substance.

    Holy Moly you just saved me a lot of time and frustration thumbing around through blender trying to figure this out based on a CG Cookie video that is good but is based on a previous version of blender. Excellent work and I now understand this very clearly now!

    I like this format a lot. Like Lazy Artist does for DaVinci Resolve. More of this, please. ❤

    Might be a good idea to click the "fake user" icon (the shield looking icon) when initially creating the mask so that if you turn it off to see what your model looks like without it and then close blender it wont disappear on reopen (:

    Is there any way to use separate objects as masks? I want to model something very accurately, down to where the screws are placed. If I could measure things out and place perfect circle cylinders there as masks, it would help.

      yes but i cant remember the shortcut

  • @WaterShowsProd

    That is a welcome improvement. Does it save the stencil as an image file? Do you need to manually save it like you do with texture images?

    • @grabbitt
      @grabbitt  Před 6 měsíci +1

      yes it saves it as a texture file

    • @WaterShowsProd
      @WaterShowsProd Před 6 měsíci

      That could be useful in using the same stencil as a variety of texture map effects, or even importing say a logo image to use as a mask. @@grabbitt

    How is that different from the "Paint Mask" option, when you select a part in Edit Mode ? Is that because it doesn't need vertices to select to apply this kind of mask ?

  • @xyz-bn4qz

    Hey Grant, I have finished your animation course and i have one issue with rigify, which are automatic weights. After parenting mesh to the rig, weights are really weird, even on basic human mesh without any clothes. Example of it: one part of the mesh is maximum weighted (red) and near mesh has no weight for it and its hard to fix or normalize it

    • @grabbitt
      @grabbitt  Před 6 měsíci

      Have you mentioned this on the forums. I'd need to see some screen shots to fully understand the issue
