Thank you for talking about mistakes. Mistakes are where we learn and I see a lack of correcting and avoiding common mistakes in a lot of videos. Beautiful art work ♥️
That's beautiful! Love those silicone tools
So beautiful!!! The green background really makes this design glow.
Thanks Kristin! Green is a favorite of mine. 💚
What an honor to get a comment from Kristin
Thank you for sharing such beautiful dotting skills. They are so beautiful to look at. I'm looking forward to trying it.
Thank you 😊 My pleasure!
It makes the stone look like a precious jewel. It's beautiful my friend
Stunning
This is beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to explain and show. You have answered several questions for me.
I'm so glad!
Thank you for sharing your wonderful art. You are very talented. I enjoyed watching you paint. Your voice is calm and soothing, and loud enough to be heard. Many aren't. I love your beautiful little Rock.

Thanks! I’m learning too 😊
Rachel, YOU ROCK!!!!!! I love, love your videos, I am finally getting ready to list my Easter Eggs in my Etsy shop, Jones4Moore. I give credit to you for all of my inspiration and mention TheDottingCenter in my descriptions as well as the tools I use (stencils and silicone tools) being bought at your shop. Thank you for all you do! You are amazing!
Thank you so much for your very sweet comment! Artists like you are totally the reason I make videos. I’m happy to share ✨❤️ Have fun on your dotting journey 🤩

Me encantó muy buen trabajo gracias por compartirlo saludos desde Uruguay
I have recently become enamoured with painting rocks and dotting, and can't believe I haven't found your channel until today! I love peacock themed art, and really look forward to trying this design! And your stencil looks awesome too. Heading over to your etsy now.
Hi Kara! Welcome : )
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I had a great time recreating this stone, and I gifted it to a gal in a store who just loved it. Thank you for helping me make someone's day.
Your artwork is always fantastic!
I wish I could attach a pic of mine, it wasn't too bad.
That makes me so happy that you painted it and gifted it! So awesome 😊
@@TheDottingCenter Thank you for teaching!
Absolutely stunning piece!
Thanks Simon! 😊❤️
That was crazy. I was literally mesmerized. It was so calming to watch this. Not sure how long this actually took you, but it was a great speed for the video and I enjoyed it. And it was very pretty.
Thank you Joe! And thanks for the comment about the video speed. I'm an amateur video editor so all that stuff I'm still learning. It's good to have feedback 👍✨
I just found you and LOVE this and really enjoy how you teach!
Hi Linda. Thanks for finding me and watching! I appreciate your comments 😊
Very clever design. Thank you for sharing it.
Thank you!
I just love your tutorials. Explaining the tools and what one's you're using and how to fix boo boos. Very excited about my stencil purchase. You've got a great support team too 💕💕I found your channel just yesterday.
Hi Deb! Thanks for your comment. I’m excited that you’re excited 😆 Best of luck on your dotting journey 🎨🌈✨💕
Beautiful ‼️ A work of art ‼️
Thank you very much 😊
Thank you. Just beautiful. Great video💜
Thank you for watching 😊
Great tutorial. As a neophyte in the dotting world it was helpful to view your technique. To date I have been eyeballing the design, but will give the stencil a go.
Hi! I’m excited for you to get started. You’ll love dotting 😊
Love the art and great design.
Thank you Jackie 😊
So pretty!
Thank you 😊
Totally agree about the stencils. Love to just get to the painting part. I had purchased a ton of stencils and was struggling with how to use them. This was a very informative video for me. Also, I was trying to figure out the best paint to use for dotting and I see you use DecoArt Americana so I will try that.
I’m so glad you agree. Stencils skip you right to the fun part 😜 Thanks for watching!
Absolutely magnificent piece Rachel. Beautiful work 💛💚💙🦚🦚🦚
Thank you Tracey ❤️
Your welcome Rachel ❤️
So beautiful!
Thank you Kathleen!
This is stunning Wow!! Awesome
TFS-Rebecca

That is beautiful!
Thank you Aislinn : )
Wow 😮 wonderful !!❤️
Thank you!😊
So pretty!! A project I will try!
Thank you! Have fun 🤩
love love love!!!!!
So pretty!!💞💞
Thank you 💞😊
WOOOW~ ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! I 💘 THE DIFFERENT SHAPES YOURE USING~ Not All Round Dots~ AND OF COURSE THE COLORS ARE STUNNING! Also, the tools you've got make creating purrfect dots SO easy because you've got some leeway with the amount of pressure being used... With a brush your pressure MUST be extremely consistent oorrr your dots will be all over the place!
Anyway, YOU make it look SO Easy, Fun And Relaxing!
The only thing I noticed that was missing from Your Supplies: SPARKLE... GLITTER OR MICA OORRR EVEN SOME LITTLE RHINESTONES GLUED ON!
Well, that's MY Thing, anyway.
Thanks so much for sharing your talent and expertise! 🐈
Thank you! I’m glad you liked the video. It is easy fun and relaxing. I’m kinda hooked on dotting 😂 I can tell by your comments you like it too. 💞 Glitter is always an option ✨🤩
Absolutely divine design...and I love how you respond to so many comments. Makes it feel just a bit more "interactive" maybe? lol...just nice to know you are reading them, makes you even more likeable if that is possible!
If you spent the time to watch my video and make a comment, the least I can do is respond 😊 I love artists. You’re my people ❤️
Now that is Gorgeous,, I really love the colors you used, I love the lilacs pinks, and blues, that you used in that piece,, imy sons got some flat med to large beach stones , so once I get the varnish, I'm ready to go,thinking of doing a dotted spider on black background,, thankyou.👍🌺🌹🌻🌸🌼🌷🍂🍁
Thanks Angela!
@@TheDottingCenter no problem your very welcome,🌷💐🌺🏵🌹

I 💜 your work! And thank you ... I received my package from your Etsy store yesterday. It will definitely take me some practice 🤭 to get the hang of it! I especially love the lil' round wooden boxes/containers thingys lol!

Amei!
New sub....where have you been been all my life girl?!? Lol 🤣 for real tho! You're awesome!
🤣 Hi Miss Dayna! Thanks for watching! So glad you liked it. 😊
WOW!
Thank you 😊✨
Thanks for the reminder of how doing projects are good for us. That's EXACTLY why I've started back up again. Hoping to elevate some unnecessary stress in these COVID and political times.
YES. It's like an art prescription. If you're a creative you need to make art like you need air and water. I hope you make something that makes you happy today : ) Thanks for your comment. I needed the reminder today too!
I think your work was absolutely beautiful,I just have to try it,can I ask,do you have to wait any time at all for the paint to dry before you move on,thankyou inadvance
Thank you so much 😊 Acrylic paint dries very quickly so you don’t need to wait very long to add top dots 💕
wow, this is so cute art my friend:)
Thank you 😊
Beautiful ma'am
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow! The mind is a terrible thing to waist.❤️it
😊❤️❤️❤️
I just added all the links to the products in my TO BUY favorites folder!!
Thanks for your support Cherie! I love to take care of my customers 💞 All the best, Rachel
Wow, that’s very nice! Thanks for sharing. How long does it take you from start to finish to make a stone like this? Also, my chalk pencil lines never erase like yours do. I really have to work at it to get them to come off.
Hi Tonja! This stone took about an hour to do. If I didn't record it I would have no idea because I "lose time" when I paint. Click the link in the description box to buy a good white chalk pencil from The Dotting Center. It will save you so much effort in the end : ) Thanks
Wishing I was this good
So funny. I look at other artist's work that way. That's what makes me practice 😊
Yes love your work and the tools you use just please let me know what paints you use thank you very much.
I use all acrylic paints. I don’t discriminate between inexpensive and expensive. I use all brands and all consistencies. If you use dotting tools use fluid paints, if you use applicator bottles use thicker body paints. 😉💕👍
😻
Beautiful Rachel, and I love the offset centre. I'm over the moon because I've just remembered my daughter left her chalkboard paints with me years ago and I never realised they could be used for dotting surfaces! Will make sure I seal them with varnish. Does it make removing chalk marks easier too?
The chalkboard paint really just helps with drawing the lines better. The type of chalk pencil you use determines how easily it can be removed. I don't like anything that makes lines that have to be scrubbed off at the end. That's no fun. The chalk pencils I have at The Dotting Center wash off easy peezy. 😊
Love this dotting. Can you do this on Polymer Clay. Thanks for sharing.
Yes you can dot on top of baked polymer clay 😊👍
Looks great. Can you recommend a specific top coat after dotting on black canvas?
I like Liquitex varnish. It comes in a matte, satin, or glossy finish. ✨
Mencanta mucho👍👏👏👏👏👏
Muchas gracias 😊
Wonderful tutorial! Thank you so much for all the tips and advice! What kind of paint do you use?
Thanks for watching! I use Arteza, Golden, and DecoArt mostly. This stone used mostly Arteza mixed with Liquitex pouring medium 1:1. That's why the dots are so plump
@@TheDottingCenter Thank you lol, So,..You're the culprit that got me addicted to Arteza products😊! ....... Guess now I'll have to get some liquitex!! 😊🤗😘,... Love your tutorials💕
beautiful. subscribed. just finding you in 2020
Hi Kena! Thanks for subscribing 😊
❤❤❤❤köszönöm!
😊❤️❤️❤️
Hello, your work is very beautiful ! Congrats ! Where do you find this kind of stones please !
Thank you! I get mine from the landscaping section at Lowe’s. They’re called Mexican beach pebbles 👍
So relaxing to watch this. I play with glass using dots...need to try this with my lamp worked beads. Friends who like jewels chick on fb
Ooooh working with glass looks like a ton of fun! I’ll check out your work on Facebook. Thanks for watching 😊
Great video and a great talent. Can I ask what you used please to get the first, large black dot at 1:40?
💕 This is the tool: etsy.me/2MZvLIk
New viewer here - love these - looks very relaxing and I may be ordering a few tools from you because I could never find them! I have to ask - where do you get your stones? The ones in the bags in the craft stores here seem to be small - I have a “rock/landscape” store near me - should I be looking there? Thanks for sharing!
Rebecca Henkins, I came to the comments wondering the same, so I’m following for her reply. I’m going to try a nursery/landscaping company tomorrow that I know sells these stones in bulk. Home Depot .com has 3-5 inch smooth river stones, but it will take 2 weeks to get them since they aren’t in stock at stores, and I’d rather pick them out myself and know exactly what I’m getting.
Rebecca Henkins, she mentioned under another comment: garden center at Lowe’s, bag of Mexican river stones for $8
Mandy Savoy - thanks for the info - I had not seen the comment. But I will check my local “Pebble Junction” which is a landscaping rock company that’s open to the public and I will see what have and then also look at Lowes and Home Depot. The craft store stones are just too small for me and my eyes! LOL
Yes, landscaping places are key. Some places even let you rummage through bins 😜
Pebble Junction sounds like a fun place 🤗✨
Absolutely clever, is there I realise I am not ArtyFarty (it is the name my granddaughter give to art of any type) 😉 at all.
can you list the colors? this is beautiful!
I don't have the colors listed anywhere, sorry. Next time I'll be sure to include that. Thanks!
Hello beautiful instructional video - thank you loved the use of a chalk pen - what was the base product you used on the stone please ?
It’s a chalkboard paint. Any brand of acrylic chalkboard paint will work ✨
@@TheDottingCenter thanks so much :)
Gorgeous, what kind of pencil are you using
Here’s the link to the pencil: etsy.me/35gli47
Where do you get the rocks? Do you have a beginners video at all? What kind of paint did you use for the base coat. You mentioned the color but what kind of paint for the base?
I get my rocks at Lowe’s landscaping. They’re Mexican beach pebbles. The base coat is acrylic chalk paint. 🤙✨🎨
I’ve just purchased some tempera paint to try doing something like this. Will it be suitable, or is it a no no for the rock painting? X thanks x
Oooh! I’ve never tried tempura paint with dotting! I would worry about cracking. If it’s too brittle or cracks, try acrylics 👍 Let me know how it goes!
The Dotting Center thank you! I bought the wrong paint by accident, just didn’t want to waste it! I will give it a go, and see how it turns out! Xx
do you need a topcoat to protect the colors?
Yes, you can use a varnish. I like Liquitex Varnish, but any brand of acrylic varnish will work for indoor use.
What kind of pencil did you make the pattern with? Does it wash off?
I use Marco Raffine white chalk pencils. 👍
What kind of paint did you use? Just acrylic paint is ok?
Fluid acrylic paint like DecoArt Americana, FolkArt, and Golden paint
What varnish do we use for the cover please. thanks for a beautiful vedio
It’s Liquitex high gloss varnish 🤩
ksi
what size of your stencils did you use? I see there are two different size options.
I used 3.5” for this stone but I also did a larger stone using the 5” stencils. 💕
@@TheDottingCenter Thank you!!!
can you tell me the names of ornaments and paints to use for this art ( rock painting ) plz mam tell me I am from Sri Lanka
All the tools I use I sell here: www.thedottingcenter.com I recommend DecoArt, Golden, and FolkArt acrylic paints 👍🎨✨
Can I use enamel acrylic paint?
I guess it depends on what tools you’re using? Most enamel paints are oil based requiring mineral spirits to clean the tools. I’m not sure how acrylic tools would hold up. Also enamel paints can be very fluid and might be hard to control. Try it! I’d love to hear how it went.
What kind of paints do you use
I use all kinds of paints. Even some of the cheap ones are good. Bad ones I don’t use. I like Arteza, DecoArt, FolkArt, CractSmart, Lumiere, Pebeo, Liquitex, Golden... girrrl I use them all. 💕
Wow, so beautiful and relaxing to watch this! Like meditation! Just found you today and I was watching already a few Video's. Really enjoy this! Do you sell these stones?
Hi Katrin! I'm so glad you liked my video. I do sell my stones. Message me through Instagram @thedottingcenter I can make you another one like this or a custom stone in your colors. Thank you!
This is very sweet of you! I am afraid to say that I don' t have "dm" vor "FB" or even TV (by choice )! Maybe there is another way!? I just love your Stone Mandalas! Katrin from Hamburg🙏💙💜
Where do you get your pepples?
I get them at Home Depot. A bag of Mexican beach pebbles is $8
I would love to have the pinwheel stencil but cannot find it anywhere. Can you help?
etsy.me/2G0t2v8
Hola could you tell me if I order3some stencils you will send it to Costa Rica and How I make the ORDER? Thank you very much
For international orders shop at my Etsy store : www.etsy.com/shop/thedottingcenter/ Thank you 😊
Bună ziua foarte Frumoase , m-ar interesa Mandala ceakra 1,, Mulțumesc frumos 🥰
Is anybody else experiencing loss of picture?
I can HEAR the description, but I can't SEE anything!!!
So strange. Maybe try a different browser?
what sort of shop sells the rocks, I can never find the rocks
I found mine at landscaping stores like Lowes and Home depot.
Do you purchase your rocks or go 'rock picking'? I am having trouble sourcing sizable stones to work on.
I buy my rocks at Lowe’s landscaping center. I like Mexican beach pebbles because they’re nice and smoooooth. 👍
@@TheDottingCenter Last year Lowes carried them but I didn't get any :( So far this year they haven't stocked them yet. But, I will keep on checking tho. I thought that they may have stopped carrying them. Thank you for answering me.
check with local landscaping/nursery I purchase all of mine there.
where can I get these stencils and how much
It’s $28.99 for 5 interchangeable stencils and a booklet with dozens of design options. Here’s the link: etsy.me/35vR9xE
Hi, Where can I find these stencils? tyia
Here they are: etsy.me/2ws9yOC
Thank you 😊
Where do you get the stones? Thanks!
I got a big bag of Mexican beach pebbles from the garden center at Lowe’s for $8 😊👍
I checked on Lowe's but they just have Small pebbles and they are not flat and round : (
Check your local landscaping companies that's where I buy mine and they are pretty cheap imo.
