In today's video, I am learning more things about flying from my dad. We take off at one airport and land at another. My dad shows me how I will have to do my solo. He teaches me a few things about how to fly our airplane. We do our pre-flight check and then we start our airplane and off we go. Yes, this is the real thing and not a flying simulator! This is a big learning curve for me! I am really excited to learn how to fly. The scenery and views over the Great Plains, where we are located, are spectacular. You can see that the fields seem to go on forever. You will also see some rivers, coulees and the Rocky Mountains. There are not many trees in this beautiful big sky country. I also learn about the fuel and horsepower of the airplane. I am very thankful that my dad is taking the time to teach me about so many things from farming and trucking to flying his airplane. My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am a 16-year-old 4th generation farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate’s Ag became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.

Your dad is such a good teacher! He not only tells you everything he is doing at any time, he also tells you why he does it, which is the most important way to remember. He would make a good Certified Flight Instructor. He is very thorough in all the smallest details. You could easily learn everything you need to know to get your own license from your dad, although people sometimes pay more attention to what is being said if its from anyone other than their father. This is coming from a dad with three children. I live in northwest Pennsylvania, and our area's highest runway is at 2200 feet MSL, and you are 1000 feet above that at your elevation where you landed.

Picking out Landscape features must be difficult. With so much Farm Land everything looks the same. Its very obvious how much your Father loves you Kate. I can tell that he’s really trying to teach you everything. I’ve no doubt that you’ll learn it all and keep the Family Farm going for another Generation.

As someone who has had their Pilot's license for 2 years now I highly suggest you follow your dad's steps and at least get your private license. It opens up so many new worlds and people you have never met. I think your channel would love seeing you document your journey to become a pilot as well. Just a thought! Great to hear you have gone solo. I can see you in your own plane in a few years going around the country interviewing people and selling your line of fashion products. Fly high and fly fast. My mother used to tell me to fly low and slow she thought it would be safer to do do that.

Wow, I take me back to years ago when I lived in Great Falls. I loved seeing the farmland, the Breaks and Coolies, Forests and of course, the Mountains. It was especially fun to be out on 10th Avenue on the east side of town on a full moon night and seeing the Belt Mountains as big as could be. And there is a reason it is called, "Big Sky Country" as you felt like you could see forever.
Thanks so much for showing us the beautiful country and good luck on your pursuit of becoming a pilot. I thoroughly enjoyed the few times I was able to ride in private planes over the Missouri River valley. Thanks for sharing Kate.

Dad teaching you to fly, you are a lucky Girl..! My Grandpaw Lester Thompson would have taught me but he died when I was three. But up to that time he use to hyjack me from Lorraine my Mother and take me up before I could walk..!

I can just see little Kate getting smarter and smarter as she was listening to her dad. But I bet she was like 🤔 wait, theres oil in the propeller!? Lol I want to help explain in great detail about so many things but its just all got to be learned a little at a time.. Some things will all make sense later and youll have all sorts of "AHA" moments when it all comes together.

Your dad is giving you speed courses on driving the truck and being able to fly . Lot of info to take in but that´s what keeps you sharp . Nice views of the fields and the sunset .

All the Attention to Detail your Dad told you about Everything is spot on ✅ it may seem like Overkill to you right now but he’s programming your computer so it will have the data in it for the future.!! The FAA wil be looking at All of That down the road but it will be ingrained in you by then and no big deal, he does a good job.. The Comanche is what the FAA calls a Complex Aircraft, ie, variable pitch propeller working the RPM, throttle working the Manifold Pressure, Retractable landing Gear, and a minimum engine horse 🐎 power of 200... For your private pilots license you Don’t HAVE to fly (show proficiency) in that type, though some folks do IF that’s the highest license they plan on getting, but like I said, you Don’t Have to....
You will have to show proficiency in one before your Commercial license though.!! Good job. 😎👍

Kate, Always get in the habit of of a good walk around (pre flight and post flight), know how the aircraft operates. When your family does their maintenance, if you get a chance, watch and find out what they do, review the log books. My biggest advice, as your dad does talk fast, is feel free to ask him questions on what he's doing, and why (even if you know, it will keep him sharp too). For example why did engine RPM decrease when switching mags.

Flying is easy landing is difficult. When I was learning to fly I was out on an extended solo cross country. When I got back the wind blowing harder than my restricted wind speed. My instructed told me I could fly back to the airport behind me or I could go to the next town. But he told me if I wanted I could try to land. So I held a little power in and crabbed into the wind. So I just flew onto the runway. I wish I had learned to fly when I was young. But my dad died in a plane crash when I was 11. Thank you for another video

Awesome scenery. It is amazing how good the visibility is in Montana.The air is so clean. I have been up on a "Hill" called "8mile bench" between Big Sandy and Winnifred. several times, and the visibility was about 80 miles that day. I just love Montana. Best wishes Jens Andersen, Denmark
