"he will be 65 and winning RG" you gotta love Almagro
His 20 GS tally locked 🔒🔒🔒
@Joe Bloggs Djockovic has not beat Nadal in a RG Final mate.
It is sad that he suggested that at the age of 66 someone else is gonna win RG. How dare you Almagro suggest something like that?! ..
You are right dude
@@subhashis_M Ah hem
The ironic part about Almagro's comment was Nadal won only 3 RG back then (2005-2007) and that were his only Grand slams until that period. Imagine someone saying Murray gonna win 40 Wimbledons when he won just twice.. That's how insane that comment was back then.. Everyone had a laugh about it since critics back then were so sure that Rafa's career wont even last long due to his playstyle. But look where he is now at RG... 35, still playing as the defending champion and now he has won 10 more to that tally.. 13 RG and fighting for the 14th right now. Absolutely insane accomplishment.
Couldn't have summed it better 👏
You are totally wrong. Rafa was so dominant at clay at a very young age that everybody knew he will make history, specially at RG. He was like a teen prodigy for everyone, well except by you it seems...
I really hope one day Roland Garros would have a court in Rafa’s name.
They will once he retires, along with a Djokovic court at the AO probably and a Federer court at Wimbledon
Voyin Markovic however, I doubt about Wimbledon since neither Becker nor Borg have their own courts there. Besides, Wimbledon doesn’t give names to the courts - they have “central court”, court 1 etc.
But Rafa and Roland garros is such unique thing. Nobody has ever won THIS GS so many times.
French people hate us so I strongly doubt about it.
@@marcopelaezfernandez4573 What ?? I'm French and I've literally never heard a single bad thing about Spanish people. Plus everybody loves Nadal here

Wow, looking back at that time when Nicolas Almagro said " Rafa will Win roland Garos 40 times even when he is 65 years old " mind blowing.

And that’s from 2008. He ain’t wrong
It’s funny because is true 😅
He was like: I hate it that I can‘t win anything against him here but this dude is just wrecking everything here and he will never stop winning here.
it is funny...and 40 RGs @ 65 is unimaginable...just picture Rafa as an old man... I hate to even think of it...

Federer will always be my favorite to watch, but this guy... He's probably the toughest, hardest player to beat in history. If I ever had to chose a player to win a match my life depended on, I'd pick him.
I think prime federrer would be the hardest to beat. 2008 or 2017. Dude does everything well.
Best comment about nadal ive seen so far :) id do the same!
Nadal is the warden of the court, that will never change through the ATP era. He is one of the best players in history and my personal best (although I'm Spanish so my opinion is very influenced) Nonetheless, if some tennis player needed a push, Rafa would be the best for a doubles match
R.I.P
@@prabhavdeuja6926 they're tough in their own ways. Federer will outclass you, and Nadal will just grind you into the ground.

Most respected man in Spain, I'm really proud this beast is from my country ¡Viva España!
Im American but I’m proud of Rafa for all he has given to the world for so many years. You should be proud and I’m so glad that you are. He has given so many reasons for us to respect him
"he is gonna be 65 and still einning RG" i laughed so hard
Here after Rafa has won his 21st grand slam at the Australian Open. What a legend!!
And I'm here after Nadal wins his 14th French Open title and his 22nd Grand Slam title. Yeah, he is a Legend!
Without Djoker … ha, ha, ha,
He’s humble, a gentleman, pure magic, a tough fighter, a living legend, most loved and respected man in Spain
The Almagro incident - I always got the impression his comments were aimed at the crowd who, at that time, were cold and refusing to clap for Rafa. It was like he saying 'yeah you should be appreciating him', 'look how good that was - he's gonna keep winning - get used to it.' At the end of the match he comforted Rafa by ruffling his hair like a child.
Great point !
French people can barely understand english, imagine spanish haha
@@alegaspoz1830 French is far more similar to Spanish than to English as both are Romance languages (Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and Romanian all 5 come from Latin)
@CZcams Tyranny oh, it's absolutely true. I sometimes wonder what was the biggest achievement, winning 13 French Opens or winning the French fans over.
No, he said it to his coach. Like, "come on, don't look at me. This guy is from another planet".
2008 was a turning point for Federer. Literally, he was in a sinking ship. Rafa had the measure of him and his confidence went to hell. Let's remember that before Rafa happened, Rog was on a roll pretty much destroying anything that happened to wander on the other side of the net. His dominance was absolute for a three year span, everyone was terrified of him, he could wipe the floor with anyone he played against.
Then this kid comes and not only wasn't terrified of him but actually got his number on the clay, and challenged him hard on the other surfaces too. It was such a surprise to him, such a strike to his confidence that Federer wasn't Federer in that RG final. He sums it nicely in the video: he just didn't think he couldn't win against him, not there, not on that surface, not on that venue. He was not only humbled by Nadal, at points it was almost embarrasing.
But the argument could be given that it was clay, it was Rafa's surface, after all. But then Wimbledon happened, and that wasn't clay anymore. And then Australia happened, and most certainly that wasn't clay either.
Most other players would've sunk at that point to never recover. Takes a champion to collect yourself (the pieces of it that are left after having been blown all around the place by your opponent, that is), and come back stronger to match such a nemesis, fight back and actually be able to beat it...at least sometimes ;).
And the best part of it, do it while getting to be best friends with said nemesis.
I'm in awe of this two. Really, I am. I know Novak is also a monster, but the whole back-and-forth story between Roger and Rafa (and their friendship on top of it) is one of the best stories sports has ever given us.
I love Rafa and Fed relationship, while I wouldn't call it friendship, their mutual respect for each other awed me. They both grew as a player and a person by playing each other.
Novak is a great player as well, but yeah...his (and his team's) attitude sometimes irked me, I can't respect him the same way I do Fed and Nadal.
Rafa just have more RG titles. Fed has more all other GS titles. Roger is stronger overall, but clay
Rafa just have more RG titles. Fed has more all other GS titles. Roger is stronger overall, but clay
Strictly sportlike the rafa vs roger was almost at the same time when Cr7 vs Messi started and its the greatest rivalries ive seen in footballl and tennis.
are they really "friends" if rafa didnt invite him to his wedding? I'd say they are just by good work colleagues
Some may love him others may hate him but Rafa is undeniably, always exciting and pure class entertainment.
Carol Morris who could hate him hhaha you may dont like his game but you cant hate this type of legend of the sports in general
If he didnt put his fingers in the butthole every time it would be better.
@@innosanto you could say the same about Zverev lifting his shirt and showing us his navel before serving or receiving his opponents serve.
Imagine hating Nadal lol
I find his grinding type not that entertaining.
As a tennis fan, I have been blessed to see Nadal play on clay in a live match in 2014 Rome Final against Djokovic, and also saw Federer at Halle in 2015 on grass court. I hope everyone can have the chance to see these two players on their favourite surfaces before they retire.
What was it like? Does his ball really bounce that high?

Roger , Rafa and Novak’s names are in a dictionary of mine
Almogro's outburst did age well. Nadal is king of Clay
he is overall great not only clay
@@mudassar84 he is great overall, but inferior to Fedovic on hard and grass, but his clay court play basically makes up for it. Look at the slam count. That just says it all.
@@armstrongtixid6873 i dont agree with you. i believe he is overall great. he has won every format multiple times clay , grass , hard. no one other is able to do that ever. he is great
@@mudassar84 The stats don't lie. He is inferior on grass period. Grass greatness is determined by Wimbledon only, and 8 < 5 < 2, so definitely on grass. As for hard, looking at slams on hard:
11 = 11 < 5
As for M1000:
Nadal: 10
Djokovic: 26
Federer: 21

Who's whatching this after he won RG ? (this comment is gonna work for every year)
after Rafa won his 13th someone went to the entry of Roland Garros in the spanish version of wikipedia and described it as "a tourney where 128 players play each year. 127 of them get to play against each other to see who will lose the final against Rafael Nadal (Spain)".
Didn't last long before someone edited it properly, but was downright hillarious to watch ;).
@@ramjb I still cannot believe Novak's coach Goran Ivanisevic said Rafa had no chance to beat Novak this year because of the conditions. I was like: Bro... are we talking about the same Rafael Nadal? How is possible that you believe a man who had won the same title 12 times has no chance to win? For Christ Sakes he has never even been taken to 5sets in a final! Did the conditions favor Novak? Yes, but that doesn't mean he will win against the most dominant player over a single surface and tournament. It ended up with Rafa bageling Novak and giving him the worst defeat of his career so far.

The GOAT debate will probably not be settled any time soon, but in tennis, one thing's for certain. Rafael Nadal is the GOAT on Clay, nobody comes close. Grass it's between Federer and Sampras with Djokovic catching up. Hard court again it's probably the three of them. But Clay it's Nadal. An inspiration, great sport, gentleman, warrior and a legend.
Clay is Federer obviously 😒
@Borat Sagdiyev This is what people don't get is that they only look at the single win and think that he sucks on clay. At the FO alone, He got to four more finals, 3 SF. And won 11 clay court titles. Just his clay stats alone would match up to former respected players like Moya and Ferrero.
Djokovic is a legend on hard court
@@JakeLesser it's actually you who have not got the point here. Nowhere is it even mentioned that Federer is not good on clay or he sucks blah blah.... He's good and has his achievements to show for it. But his accomplishments on clay, as you have written down isn't enough to bring him up for discussion as the clay Goat. Indeed there are quite a few players who have achieved more on clay.
Federer is a great player but he doesn't necessarily feature in every tennis debate.
Either way my point was about Nadal being simply way way ahead on clay, but that of course doesn't diminish the achievements of others and I didn't even disrespect anyone in my first statement.
