    Invest in a deburring tool there cheap and easy to use . Heating up the lint will just cause contamination , probably not enough to affect it imo . My thoughts are whatever don't go up in smoke is going to stay on the piece just like the argon oxidation . DA sand paper on a plate of metal or glass works too just time consuming and more clean up.

    • @kevinfrye1822
      @kevinfrye1822 Před 3 lety

      The deburring tool is carbide and does not leave any contamination and yes if you're using some kind of pipe cutter it does no good to use this tool other than to remove the sharp edge but as far as a bandsaw this tool will remove those remanence. Also as your comment of burning his Material off from the micro fiber rags he used can leave contamination very little to none but still contamination and as was stated it was in my opinion. Most of these parts are pre prepped as far as deburred and almost ready to weld so I really doubt a whole lot of microfiber stuck to this part but if a hacksaw was used or bandsaw Etc this is where this tool will come in handy Skillset has everything to do with welding that being said Ive seen talented people weld the dirtiest metals and you would think it was done professionally . The other thing is is the map and propane gas that he is using is ideal . If acetylene gas was used the part would be covered with soot and unweldable without cleaning once again but you said burning would not contaminate the metal it all depends on the process that used and once again the small amount of contamination would not hurt anything it was just in my opinion . Yes I do weld and as far as what I do it doesn't matter but I'm not building a mirror finish intake although I have a few under my belt even if it's not my every day thing . Have I welded titanium or stainless yes I've welded about as much as titanium as his sample piece lol and I welded a ton of stainless contaminated with salt water and still have success . Either way he's doing a phenomenal job beyond what I could ever do .

      Actually with the proper shielding and methods of welding, Titanium is quite easy to weld. The puddle is smooth and consistent. Other metals such as Stainless are alloys, so there's quite a few things in the mix. Most Titanium you would see for this application is commercially pure which means it's like 99% Titanium. I've welded various alloys of every type and I can tell you from experience, welding titanium is easier than people may think.

    I'm wondering if you can use a wet sponge for the anode to kind of "paint" the anodizing on the parts. Might be worth experimenting for larger parts that would otherwise need a large tank and higher amperage power supply. I've done some aluminum anodizing, but never Ti.

      Before tempered glass phone protection, folks had a liquid that dried to a really hard and clear protection.. Can't remember the name of the product but you can find linustechtips testing it by dragging it on the road behind his motorcycle.
      When I got my Cadillac done at counts kustoms is was kicking around and talking with the guys there and they used it. I THINK it was called liquid armor.
      Their helmets looked like new so it must work.
      No personal experience with it other than the chat and what they showed me on the shop tour for the show but worth a try I guess.

    • @guidoheeling1179
      @guidoheeling1179 Před 3 lety +3

      @@shanemonsees4798 titanium already is not the most strong metal out there, that is also the reason you see nobody make manifolds out of it, because it can not handle the stress in that certain envierement.
