    The oil filled shocks are an absolute game changer on these little HBX trucks, they are a lot more stable, even on very rough ground.

    I just put the oil filled shocks on my HBX Rampage, along with the metal driveshafts, handles and jumps much better. Now it’s time for me to get a bigger truck.

    Just got mine last weekend and man do they make a huge difference.....it’s a whole different truck! Can’t beat this little setup for under $100

      Have not had any range issues as others have reported....I’ve driven a pretty good distance out at the local hobby park!

    What tyre upgrade would you recommend for this? And a motor upgrade recommendation? Would a surpass hobby 2435/4500kv work? And any idea whats the diameter of the shaft of the stock motor?

      Yep they sure do. That came out after I made this video. It may be cheaper still to get this one and buy these oil filled shocks because the A version can be quite a bit more expensive.

      @@joergone1184 no, I wasn't able to install it because of the esc plugs not fitting the motor I had.

      @@joergone1184 I just was going to use an old esc out of my FS Racing Truck that is broken. Yes, you could cut and solder them. I just didn't want to mess with doing that.

    Great upgrade I'm still waiting on my truck to come in been tracking it's on the way but with all this other stuff going on about this virus things it's going to be a while I plan too get shocks later on after I receive it all ready got two lipo battery for it there been here just going have too wait on vehicle you take care of your self and family will talk with you later Mike holden out of North Carolina said that

    My 70 mm shocks did not come with metal inserts only on bottom can i take the metel inserts out of the regular shocks and put my oil filled shocks on came with oil in them got mine in red great video as all ways keep the great work up Mike holden out of North Carolina said that

    Hey dude, I have this truck too. I've been driving it for a month now. And I agree with the range with the stock remote system. The range is terrible to be honest. So I'm really interested to see you upgrade that.

    They cost double right now, 13eur the pair so 26eur for the upgrade is not cheap anymore because if you had that to the 86eur they cost, becomes close to other options with already oil shocks stock. Nevertheless is my first Hobbie grade rc and couldn't be happier. Fun indoor or outdoor in almost any terrain available.

    Maybe to stop it from flipping is healing maybe you should do is either heavier or softer oil. I don't know. What's after or make it slip or maybe heavier oil.

      Shocks seem good to me. Just the right amount of dampening so I don't think different weight oil will make much of a difference. It flips because it is small and fast. Easy to rollover.

    I saw another CZcams Video with this truck running on 3s with the stock esc, is this right?I have one on order, will be arriving soon.I would try 3s but want to be very sure first that the esc can handle a 3 s Lipo? Should be a great truck, I will have to build a ramp!

      It is an amazing truck. I have no doubt you saw it run on 3s but how long will that work before it burns up the ESC/RX combo? If you're going to try it I suggest adding a cooling fan to the ESC.

      Do not use a 3s lipo with a rating that is above 25C or say good bye to your Car

      Just some old Tamiya soft oil. No clue what weight that is.

    Hi, you mentioned that the SG 1602 is the same truck / has the same chassis. There is also an HBX 16890. This looks very similiar to the SG 1602. So I assume the 1602 and the 16890 are identical?

    So I added the oil filled shocks on mine. Noticing the rear sits low.
    and "return" travel not quick. All shock adjusters at very top springs
    fully extended and installed in same holes as yours. I realize turning them down should put them in a more
    compressed travel. I have not opened these to check "oil" status. Seems
    like there not performing as intended? Suggestions??

      Check the oil level and move the tensioner lower.

      Yup - oil level "seems" good. I did turn adjuster all the way down and it did level it out a bit. Curious why mine needs that much adj. while from what I see on others posts seem to be fully all the way up? Also, what type oil should I decide to add?

      @@MrGlobaldave1 try a thinner oil maybe. It isn't uncommon for the rear shocks to sit lower.

    Hello. Im looking at different oil shock options for the 16889 I am going to buy and have a question. On the Banggood page it lists these as Overall length is 70mm,hole diameter is 0.8mm, but your video says any 80mm should work. Just wanted to verify the end to end length and hole to hole of those if possible. Thank you

      I believe it is 80 but now I'm not certain. I can't remember lol. Just get the ones from the link in the description so you know they'll fit. 😏

      @@Custnam don't blame you. Just order the same length as the BG listing. EBay will have more than Amazon and will be cheaper but won't ship as fast.

    I know the Tamaya oilfield checks would be more expensive but they come in 75 mL. You think that would work for that?

      I believe so. I've used them before though I think that aluminium ones as better than the DIY plastic Tamiya oil filled shocks.

    Do all the HPA axis oilfield dampers come with oil in them. Even for the 1/18 scales?

      HPA? Do you mean HBX? These upgrades come with oil in them yes. The Tamiya ones though have to be assembled and oil added. I prefer these preassembled ones that come with oil already in them.

      @@shred__dad did you use the link on the description? They are really cheap from BG. Also, I've used the Tamiya soft oil with good success though I'm uncertain what the weight of that oil is. Please keep me updated as to what you find out!

      I'm not really sure what weight tbh. I just used some old Tamiya shock soft oil.

      Metal gears are always better. I guess the stock gears are nylon? I thought they were already metal.

    For some reason after i upgraded the shocks the truck doesn’t stay straight it’s annoying to drive smh the steering servo gets stuck alittle when i turn it wont center back to normal it stays turned alittle bit i just got the Smax brushless 2 days ago and i love it way better then the 16889 in my opinion stays straight doesn’t run hot on 3s either also waiting on my Traxxas 4tec 2.0 😀

      Maybe it needs a better steering servo. My oil filled shocks tend to make the truck sag in the back. I have the smax also and I find it to be a bit bouncy and I hate the big bulky controller.

      Not everyone has as bad of range as I did but as far as I know they are still using the same transmitter.

      @@RDsRCReviews Oh well, we all know if we want the best upgrade range-wise, the Dumbo TX/RX combos are the best, but then again you have to get a seperate ESC as well. 😢

      @@RDsRCReviews SOmething very strange happened to me a while ago, I tried inproving the range of a RC car by making the RX wire longer, it had the Opposite effect, the range got Worse?!!!

    Length of oil filled shocks, as im looking to fit wltoys 1/18 shocks which are 65mm in overall length and 57mm hole to hole as i want my truck sitting lower.

      @@RDsRCReviews i find the car too unstable for how i run it as i run this peppy little truck on 3s n the stock suspension has a travel of around 15mm so if i put a thicker oil in the my new shocks it shudnt bottom out to often. Though with it been a small truck i use it more on light gravel. Its the only rc i currently own as i want one of each scale going larger from what im at currently. Im going for an ftx comet after ive finished this project. N that will require a brushless setup can you recommend a suitable motor size for a 1/12 scale. I dont a 1/14 as its not my cup of tea. I sold my wltoys 144001 it was too small.

      I should have mentioned the shock length in this video. Major oversight on my end. I just looked at the oil filled shock lifting and they are indeed 70mm. Crazy good deal for $7 a pair.
