      I think you're right, but I do think it's both. Using COVID to get rich while they forced false narratives, while businesses were forced to close & also betting on economic downturns that they themselves were instrumental in, suggests a criminal element, corruption from outside interests (Pfizer, Israel, Russian oligarchs....) & of course, the business acumen you speak of. One small problem though, they're not meant to be businessmen, they're meant to be politicians, civil servants at that.

    When I worked for one of the "Big Four" audit companies not only did I and my immediate family have to declare any interests in companies we audited, we had 12 months to liquidate these interests. The rationale was that even if I was not working on accounts in which I had an interest, I might hear or see things related to these companies that may influence my investment decisions. it is effectively insider trading. Yet our government get away with actively promoting businesses that they hold shares in. This is corruption of the highest order

    • @cupguin
      @cupguin Před 4 měsíci

      @@vinay7397 Essentially yes. You can't actively invest in stocks if you have insider information, that's not just an MP thing just anyone who can benefit from their job can't invest using that information. So most MPs would put their stocks are in a blind trust, so they can't make any decisions about their stocks someone is allowed full control. So even if you think you have stock in say Tesla and try and get a contract that would boost that stock it might turn out all that stock was sold on day one without your knowledge. If it's likely to cause a conflict of interest or even appear to cause a conflict of interest, like it's your personal business that owns childcare providers and your government is about to give childcare providers extra funding you would declare your interest. Same thing with MPs that have a second job. Though the report by Led by Donkeys would argue how effectively that works.
      Nothing is going to be perfect but the basic idea is to make the appearance of corruption something that will be caught by some internal structure and stopped before it gets to actual corruption. The fact that the last Tory anti corruption tsar left when Boris was PM then Truss and Sunak didn't fill the role I'm sure is just a coincidence.

      Infosys was involved in the covid passport. Also Sunak has ' had shares in the mRNA vaccines, Moderna which he has not had to declare because they were put in a blind trust. A large contract has been given to develop a large facility using mRNA technology for future vaccines with Moderna, and despite statistics showing there has been an increase in the all cause mortality since the mRNA vaccine roll outs. It was not surprising that Andrew Bridgen MP's speech highlighting this and other matters was only attended by about 6 MPs and he was almost immediately expelled from the conservative party charged with anti semitism. He had quoted an Israeli doctor who said the mRNA vaccines was the biggest public health disaster since the Holocaust.

The random MPs who have never cared before boldly calling for an end to all of Fujitsu contracts are calling for the impossible in part because of Rishi's actions. Fujitsu is so integrated by this point it's impossible to cut all ties. If you want to be annoyed about Rishi and Fujitsu it's his signing contracts with them even after the problems with Horizon had been exposed in court not an ITV drama catching the public's interest after years of articles failed to.
