  • Hey everybody!! Welcome to an all new build series here at Payne-ted Plastic. For this build we will be modifying a Spengler's Neutrona Wand from Hasbro. This is a prop replica/role play item hasbro released in their Plasma Series in connection with the new movie Ghostbusters Afterlife. The toy is really pretty fun as is with great lights & sound effects from the movie, but I want to modify it to look more like the wand from the original 1984 Ghostbusters.
In this episode we will remove the original grips & get the wand ready for it's new 3d printed grips. The removal of the grips is pretty straight forward, but it does take a little patience. The rear grip is by far the easier grip to remove. It only has a few screws holding it in place. The front grip is a bit more challenging because the entire section is all molded together. I start by using my rotary tool to cut away the majority of the grip, then I switch to my plastic nippers to remove the remaining bits.
The 3d printed grips i will be using came from a great etsy seller...

The prints are very nearly perfect for this project. The size is spot on & they only require a little sanding to be ready for paint. If you want to modify your Spengler's Neutrona Wand check out this esty seller's product, you won't be disappointed.
Thanks for watching!! I hope you enjoyed this 1st part of my Spengler's Neutrona Wand build. Be sure to Like & subscribe & turn on notifications so you won't miss the next episode!!
Episode 2 - Attaching the new grips!

Only mods I’ve done to my wand is remove the awful moulded tape and replace it with a gap filler and real fabric grip tape, swap out the V-hook for a Dixie one, gave it a more convincing damaged look, painted my wand tip as it is a second gen orange tipped wand and I have an assortment of grips I snap to the front one. I got an all black classic Harsin3DPrinted 84 grip for my 84 wand look, a rounded Harsin 84 grip I made to look like wood and did a half assed paintjob to make it look like old paint on wood (looks 10 times better than the attempt on the hasbro 84 wand) and my bigger shotgun grip which I made look like an actual wooden shotgun pump and I’m still to add some round headed hex bolts to it once I’ve cut them down for the black pegs. Next 3 things are all FE related like the cheese wedge on the heat sink, AK grip and grated muzzle.

Personal recommendation for real tape ontop, Olive drab Gaffers tape. The stuff people use to create quick sets and put cords under.
It’s the correct texture, almost right color. Just do a quick paint job over it in darker brown colors and you’re set.
If you do that, fun side thing you can also do is get some black gaffers tape and wrap it around the handles of a ghost trap or PKE meter.

Yea i saw a lot of people doing the gaffer tape thing to have a more realistic afterlife look, but i wanted the 1984 look. I wanted to completely repace the afterlife bits.
Thanks for the feedback though! 👍
