  • Hello everyone! In this video, I redid a vehicle more than 2 years ago. It was 2 years and 6 months since I did this vehicle, and as you can see, it's not terrible, but starting to haze slightly on the top. This is a great example for me to show how easy the NextGen Clear coat is to remove, unlike other harsh clears like 2K Clear.
    I started with a 400 to remove the old clear coat and finished with a 600 before applying the new clear coat.

    Hey man! I just did a light today and I feel like I followed all the directions and sprayed just like you sprayed, but it came out slightly hazy. Like it looked a little orange peely. Maybe spraying too close?

      Potentially. If you don't sand with 600 long enough, or apply a coat over a dry coat, it will appear to have a little orange peel. If you want to send me some pictures, I can help see what happened so it doesn't in the future. brad@nextgenheadlightsolutions.com

    The sad part of all this, is that your can't buy just the headlight covers from OEM that would last for years, instead of having to keep redoing this process. They force you to buy an entire light that these days, can cost thousands.

      @StartRestoringHeadlights  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I'm 50/50 on this. Anytime you remove the lens or cover, its very difficult to get it resealed exactly the way it was from the factory. This can lead to water getting inside, condensation etc. Restoring is a much more cost-effective solution.

      @@StartRestoringHeadlights very true. I think it should be an option however, given ever increasing prices. Thanks for doing what you do though btw.

    I'm a little surprised that 2.5 year old lights are that yellow already. Are you redoing other headlights, and if so, is it because the coating is cracking or because they are starting to turn yellow? It doesn't look like the UV additive is doing it's job if it's turning yellow.

    • @StartRestoringHeadlights
      @StartRestoringHeadlights  Před 5 měsíci

      No Headlight restoration is permanent, and no UV additive can permanently protect against UV rays. This job was done before we made the adjustment to apply a little more coating on the top of the headlight. As you can see, the bottom is good to go, but since the top is getting the worst of it, it's going out first. The coating is turning yellow, not cracking or flaking.

    And is the overspray not that bad. I noticed you don’t use much paper

    • @StartRestoringHeadlights
      @StartRestoringHeadlights  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Overspray can happen if theres a lot of wind, but no, it doesn't get everywhere. If there is a little overspray, it comes off very easily with rubbing alcohol.

    So I’ve tried regular blue tape from Walmart I’ve tried expensive automotive tape from Walmart and I’ve tried pink delicate tape from Walmart and to tell you the truth they all seam to be the same. I’m sometimes worried about paint peeling around the edges of the headlight on older cars. Even the thin pink delicate tape seams to have to much glue that bonds to the paint and the same with automotive tape… what are your thoughts ?

    • @StartRestoringHeadlights
      @StartRestoringHeadlights  Před 5 měsíci

      Agree to it all. The Pink automotive tape sucks, its so delicate it's a huge pain to peel and just tears to easily. Nothing beats blue tape with water. Wetsanding is king in my eyes, since it lessens the adhesion, reducing the possibility of pulling off paint

    Hi. What is the gun you're using after you wipe down the headlights. Is it a necessity, or is it just for expedience sake?

    • @StartRestoringHeadlights
      @StartRestoringHeadlights  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Its a blower from Amazon. Not a necessity, but if you're applying this clear coat, you want to make sure all of the trapped water is removed before applying.

    I used to work in a cubicle at a call center for progressive insurance and my son bought me a GI Joe action figure for my birthday so I brought it to work and put it on my desk. One day I see someone put the GI Joe in my desk drawer then I get called into my bosses office and she tells me that she had to put it into the drawer because the women in the office found it offensive because GI Joe was holding a gun. That was about 23 years ago so I can’t imagine what it would be like now working in an office especially with women … lol

    • @StartRestoringHeadlights

      600 is the highest we got when using the NextGen clear coat. the filling properties take care of the rest.
