    The gear on the top of mine is too big to take the part off. It’s not narrow like the one in the video. No idea how to take the old hub off or get new one over it. Does the gear portion come off? Mvwx655dw0.

    Anyone know where to find more screws?

  • @netmaster88

    I am replacing this on my washer. What gets me is under that plastic drive hub there is a small chamfered rubber or neoprene washer for each screw that secures it to the basket. Idk where to get those from. I've even looked at the manufacturer's parts schematics and they are conveniently left out. Anyone know what I'm talking about or where to find them?

      No. These are not easy and you have to destroy that plate to get it off

    So I have a different issue i have checked three times and confirmed the p/n for this hubkit for my machine but the head of the splines on the transmission are larger than the opening on the drive hub I cant get the old one off and or the new one on. Its not a perfect round shaft with splines like the one in all the tutorials that I have found mine has more like jaggeg shark fin splines three of them rather than like the twenty smooth strait splines?? Please help even called Appliance repair guy and he's lost :(

    The plastic "fork shaped holder" is stuck. Tried prying it out and it ended up breaking. The forks won't move. Any ideas to help get these out?

    Replacing ours now for the second time. Looking for a metal replacement instead of plastic. With plastic on metal these teeth on hub will keep stripping. 🤔

    • @alexdavis7872
      @alexdavis7872 Před 4 lety +1

      That’s because your gearcase is bad

    • @scottchristie2819
      @scottchristie2819 Před 3 lety +2

      Plastic is for saving the drive and motor. If it were metal, you would have more problems, and much worse. Check for loose change, etc under impeller. This holds up the drive and causes the stripping of the hub.

    • @netmaster88
      @netmaster88 Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah if only they spend $30 more to make the part out of metal to begin with. Imagine how much happier their customers would be.

    If you do a lot of laundry, do yourself a big favor and have a few of these pieces on hand. Because these tend to fail when you’re gonna need it most.

    So ... you mentioned about putting a cloth over the holes to prevent anything from dropping in there because it's really hard to get it out if that happens. Well ... I didn't cover the holes, and the removable screwdriver tip came off and went right down in there. Is it absolutely necessary that I retrieve it? I can't imagine what that entails! Your video was excellent. I can't believe this happened. :(

    • @alexdavis7872
      @alexdavis7872 Před 4 lety +1

      Bridget Kulick once you take the little u clip out you can lift the tub out and just grab it

    • @scottchristie2819
      @scottchristie2819 Před 3 lety +1

      You do not want anything in the drive hub area. Loose Change will ruin it, so a screwdriver tip will do much more damage. Get it out, and look for other stuff in there, too. Hope this helps.

    • @thadondotta337
      @thadondotta337 Před 3 lety +2

      It will not spin but you’ll also hear a weird sound when it doesn’t spin.. motor will still spin the clutch and splutch assembly but won’t spin... kind of a dumb design imo why have a metal trans slash gear case shaft and plastic hub? It’s a money thing generates revenue and you’d be surprise at the amount of techs that misdiagnose this repair
