Bought one of these metal hub drives and within 3 months it broke into 4 pieces underneath the agitator plate.
I had to destroy the washer plate and chisel off the damn center part of it off of the arbor. Now, the arbor/rotor head that spins the hub (with three sets of four tabs that the washer plate slides down and fits onto) is hindering the removal of the plastic stock hub. I don't know if it is stuck on there due to calcification from the makeup of the water. Hmmm...
The plastic hub you can remove the horse shoe and 6 screws. Then you can put the center bolt back on and remove the center metal sleeve if it's still on. If not then it's easy goings from there
Question , i have just replaced with one of the plastic ones and the last two i have put on stripped in the first light load , i ran the calibration sequence and whole nine yards .have always had trouble with this machine replacing maybe 20 of these
The plastic ones strip way too easily and don't hold up like the metal ones. Highly recommend using the metal hub kits instead. Follow the video for instructions
Kit part number please. I'm not seeing it. They appear to sell out quick at some sites. Mines WTW5000DW1 I think this applies to it as well

Great video but one thing viewing the fit before screwing it down would be helpful. The package does not come with instructions
One issue you might have is that the splines on the transmission have rusted and decayed. That will give you issues placing the hub kit on. The only repair for that is to clean the splines using a wire brush and file or replace the transmission with a new or working one
Gm I just want to confirm when placing the hub down on to the shaft is there to be any space between the surface and hub or shout the hub be flush down to the surface before screwing it on, pls hep and thank you
Your video is the best except I can really see how flush the hub is before you secured by screwing down.

The kit does not come with the spanner wrench. You can find one on Amazon easily

This worked until it broke after one month. This makes the time fixing it practically useless.
I keep hearing maytag but not my model. mvwb300wq2 so i guess i gotta throw mine away.
This hub kit will repair your unit if this is the issue
