  • Sam from Shaper HQ walks us through an entire box build using Box Joint Basic, one of the Extensions that we introduced with our latest software release. Box Joint Basic lets users input their joint parameters (pin count, stock dimension, cutter diameter) and creates cut files for both mating pieces on the fly-no computers, math, or physical templates required! #boxjoints #shapermade #shaperorigin
    Check out how Eric from Shaper Tools uses Box Joint Basic to create his custom gin box here: • Designing Box Joints ...
    and you can watch an overview of everything that is included in the latest software release here: • Shaper Origin: Walkthr...

    More like this please. Super tutorial. Would have liked to be able to see the screen when he was working on it.
    This is the content we want to see as owners - train us up!

      Agreed! A training with this much depth for the vertical workstation would be a great help too for something so fundamental to the tool.

    This is EXTREMELY cool! I can see lots of examples for how to eliminate extra steps in the UX, but otherwise kudos!

    quick question : does the Origin allow for the placement of tabs in your cuts so the piece doesn't spin out when cut all the way around or would I have to double sided tape the piece down?

    Really nice tutorial. In the end, it is not even necessary to own a shaper workstation in order to produce such boxes. What kind of drawing software do you recommend (that I can afford)?

  • @sputnik4216

    Very Good Video. I wish in future they'd move slowly over the touch screen tapping. It takes multiple reviewing to catch the selection screen and what they're selecting. This is for newbies after all , right?

    Less tear out if a box joint is done with a climb cut on the right hand side of the joint. Will this tool allow a climb cut?

    I'm not sure yet if the video answers this, but how long would you estimate this box would take to create in the real world, by someone who's comfortable with the machine? I'm curious if this would be a good tool for cabinetry.

    Given the front ant back are identical, why not cut both at the same time? (same for the sides)

    Question: Does this machine provide a simple means of doing something very complicated, or does it provide a complicated means of doing something very simple?

    • @peregrine5327
      @peregrine5327 Před 3 lety +1

      I would say that it provides a more space- and cost-effective way of doing multiple things with one tool, albeit perhaps more complicated.
