  • Shaper Plate is the universal template for Origin. In this video, we've collected a variety of example applications of Plate + Origin. See how we set up, index, and align Plate on various types of workpieces and then prepare to cut.

That "retract bit tip" sounds like one of those 'ask me how I know' tips ;)

Would like to see a video detailing the 32mm hole use case. Should cover getting the holes at 37mm from the edge and continuing the hole pattern to, say, 12 holes.

So maybe I missed it, what is preventing the bit from cutting into the plate? What if you are using a larger bit?

With the 5 holes, what if you want holes over the total length? Can you move the plate then? How to align the plate then with the already cut holes?
    🙏

Just make multiple pencil marks a plural of 32mm apart. But then again.... if you need to make a lot of these holes the LR-32 system of Festool is way easier and faster.

@@davesmulders3931Seems like the obvious solution, but then you are back to human error in alignment. It is one thing to use a pencil mare to center, it is another to rely on that for hole-set to hole-set alignment... with Origin, you would expect that to be machine exact!

@@jonathandcohen True....however if you make some kind of jig to align the template to previous hole-sets, you will stack the error in the template multiple times.
If you mark out the cutting locations in one go to the reference plane, then you will most likely be more accurate.
The option you have with origin to do this exact is to stick some long pieces of Origin tape to a board and just make a full size workspace. Align once, cut all the holes. You do not use the plate then obviously.
If it needs to be repeatable work, you can cut an alignment template for the plate-stops which you add to the board to be cut.
There are ways, but I'd just mark out my locations and eyeball a close to perfect alignment. Close is often good enough.

Why wouldn’t they love you for having showed and let them use your Origin?
