The next best thing to a Outback or Forrester is the Nissan X-trail, that is if you can handle the centre dashboard, other than that, its a damn good attempt by Nissan to capture that part of the market, especialiy the TI model, which is the top of the line model.
coded, its clear that the person does not NEED the KLUGER as JBL is looking at the medium sector AWD/4WD's.
Next step up from the Nisan X-Trail would be the Ford Escape or Mazda Tribute, or the Honda CRVSport (forget the standard CRV), or the Mitsubishi Outlander (Airtech).
Of course you could go to the next level which are:
      Mitsubishi Challenger
      Nissan Pathfinder
      Toyota Kluger
Holden Adventura (jacked up Commodore Berlina Wagon)
Ford Territory (not released yet, will be on sale from June 1 2004)
As always, do research before you make any decisions.
My TIP: X-Trail TI or the Escape XLT or Tribute Classic Sport.
EDIT: Just to keep coded happy since he is a Toyota dealership sales manager, you can also throw in the RAV4, but the reality is that the RAV4 is not the best for weekend getaway bush warrior.
However it is nice on the sealed roads and advantage is that is constant 4WD.

It's an interesting novel idea, but at the core, a pretty stupid idea.
Federer doesn't love playing on grass, he loves hitting balls to grass court. Conversely for Nadal, he doesn't love hitting ball into clay court, he loves moving around clay court.
With battle of the surfaces, it just became a lopsided match in favor for whoever is playing on clay side. They will be hitting ball into a grass surface, giving their opponent little time to react, while at the same time getting slow balls on their side, and a court that is easy to move around.

@Tahka DM who said anything about it being tiring? I'm talking about the way they fall over. I can fall off a horse travelling at speed and hitting the ground hard from a height and just bounce straight back up... these guys just fall over their own feet and act like they've fallen out of a bloody window ;)
