The game has a debug menu with various options such as Katamari size modifiers and other such debugging features.

Said global defines file also has a variable named "PS2_FPS" which is set to 30 and as far as I can tell is never actually used.

I somehow managed to fall asleep during the tutorial level at a sleepover and the lalalalalala song played on repeat all night. It infiltrated everyone's dreams that night
I love this series the prince is about the same size as me so it's very cathartic for me to watch someone so small destroy the world.

The textures are great, stylistic and slick as hell. Retains the style pretty well while also looking just really nice.

This game has made me who and what I’m interested in today. The music, the gameplay, it was very addictive to me some 12 years ago. I’m 26 now and this game is still as amazing to me as anything else.

There pretty much only is one more stream's worth of material left. It's a game that doesn't overstay it's welcome. But, will always bring a smile to my face. So glad this one has finally moved on from being a PlayStation exclusive. (Could be in error on that.) And one BIG, GIGANTIC tip to offer. There is this (thank everything) optional stage about the bears. Avoid for the love of everything. For a game that is so fun and easy going, this one stage is brutally impossible. For you must collect a whole number of ONE BEAR!!! Make it the biggest bear in the land. While avoiding junior sized bears, statues of bears, signs that mention bears are in the area, postcards with a bear picture on it, toy bears...FRIGGIN' coins stamped with a bear, bear printed postage stamps...and whatever other kinds of things with a bear on it. I mean, you can get a massive ball going and roll across a single pixel with a micro bear imprinted on it. It is so insane that this one level could have been a contest for a boatload of money. While I'm sure that one or two people in the world have surely gotten that Godzilla-Bear by now, it's nae impossible to play.
That's the thing I love about the Katamari games. I think the longest one takes about 5 hours total to complete, and that's if you decide to do the optional challenges. They're short enough that the gameplay never gets stale.
I've watched a few CZcamsrs play this but I haven't really heard the music properly, it's pretty good. It sucks that they usually have the volume so low, I watched several playthroughs of Undertale and missed out on that music for a while.
Don't know how you missed out on undertale music, every video I'd watch for months after undertale came out had its music

maybe consider playing a game for once instead of just watching someone else play it? You sound like someone who only observes the players, yet complains about things that could be fixed by being a player themselves.
I couldn't play games like Undertale because it was only on PC, and I don't have a PC. Katamari I've hadn't even heard about so I didn't know it existed until Game Grumps played it. Also, I don't watch letsplays for the games, if I did I'd play the game myself.
You sound like someone who assumes everyone has all the gaming platforms and have all the time in the world to play every single game.
@@Vaguer_Weevil Kind of funny how the other day, I was thinking about just how many game platforms there have been throughout the short expanse of time that home computers have even been around in. And I do believe that we are already past the point where one could seriously play every game ever created. So it's quite alright to have missed out on some great gems, over the years. Besides, Katamari was sort of obscure, even when it was released. It was Japanese cultured with these crazy ideas and somehow got exported to the delight of all so many.
If anything, I experienced it at a cocktail lounge's movie screen sized TV during a convention. Nearly everything about this game was so awe taking. So, I am glad to see that this has been ported with the flood of ports that the Switch is now getting.
Besides, with the crazy cost of collecting everything that was ever made, one would almost have to go off the deep end and aim to be another Angry Video Game Nerd or something. Not to mention having millions of expandable funds in their bank accounts. ...or just emulate it all.

Picked this up same day as Smash. Missed out on the original Katamari back in the day but always wanted to give it a shot.

Brought out my PS2 to play along, noticed another difference besided the visuals, all the levels are one or two minutes longer but the size goal is the same

1:01:32 - I started thinking about an anime I watched called Onegai My Melody as Vinny was talking about how nice it would be to live in Japan. And the first episode I remembered from that series was the trash house episode, where one of their neighbors lives in filth. He's waist deep in trash bags and has a car inside the house. And I don't mean a car bed or a toy car. I mean a full sized car. He shoved a car into his house.
You can play with motion controls in this version and move around kind of like in ARMS - version is just motion controls and HD Rumble.
Conan being able to just talk like that on the spot is really impressive

is it me or did they lowered the amount of items/size needed for the King of all Cosmos to be pleased with the Katamari? I remember in the original that unless you went the most optimal route, he would end up being dissapointed at you.
