    This was a really great deal for a 4tb build! I’ve been looking around in the US for these and people are easily charging $300-500 bucks for these drives. You are really paying about $50 bucks for 25k games and you could go a lifetime trying to play through them all.

    @RCfromtheNYC Před 2 lety +25

    I'm Team LaunchBox and suggest that anyonr who wants to go a PC retro build to give LB a change. It's become much easier to setup ROMs and artwork and the BigBox front end is much more streamlined as compared to HyperSpin. There still is a small learning curve in the setup process, but after that, it's smooth sailing. Another suggestion would be Batocera flashed onto an external drive, but configuring PS2 and Dreamcast emulators do require some extra steps

    Hyperspin is a NIGHTMARE to install. In fact I ended up getting another HDD and creating my own retro gaming harddrive using the roms and with better emulation. Almost everything was wrong, from the button mapping to the screen scaling, it was just horrible. Not to mention the amount of times it crashed Windows and I would have to reboot, absolutely hated Hyperspin.

      Hyperspin can be amazing, but its also annoying as all hell lol. One reason I did this video the way I did was to explain without making it an hour long video that even a prebuilt hyperspin setup is not so easy to get going and can require more work than you would think. I will be porting this particular build to launch box as I have defaulted to using launchbox over the years myself. Id imagine people with no experience with Hyperspin may have a lot more difficult of a time with this build than I have. I mean I spent maybe an hour doing setup then reconfiguring things... which someone not having done it before would probably spend a lot longer doing so.

    I use coinops next 2 because it's easier to add games. yeah sure it doesn't look as good, but that's actually better because it means to add a game all you need is the icon, roms and a jpg screenshot as a minimum. but you can add a vid if you make one or find one online and have gigs of free space available for unnecessary vids. It's a whole lot easier to update coinops next 2, whereas most of the other frontends require you to be a master with photoshop and since we are not that results in you not being able to add games. I prefer a simple frontend because remember, it's about the games, not a flashy frontend.

    I have a mini PC with Batocera installed and with the aid of Batocera Nation have already set up a number of emulatiors and software, and still have more work left to do. With that said, this system while interesting, is unnecessary for me when I already have something else I've already set up over the past few months and counting. But I guess when I do need to upgrade some day, I will definitely look into something more potent, and hopefully more ergonomic if one should appear within a couple of years time.

    im interested in this on your hyperspin wheel... i saw a PS4 section. are them real PS4 games? or just PC games that are same titles as PS4? had no idea that PS4 could be emulated....

    @MattStevens9824 Před 2 lety +1

    Thank you very much MLP for the thoughts on this. Hyperspin seems great as long as you've got the know-how to maximize it. But imma stick with Launchbox Bigbox. Btw... that Teamviewer folder's freakin' scary.

    • @Madlittlepixel
      @Madlittlepixel  Před 2 lety +3

      yeah, the teamviewer thing was just the actual executable for the real program. nothing malicious or preconfigured or anything. I think it was a left over from another company that offers set up for premium customers or something. But yeah... they really should have stripped that out as people will question it. I spent more time scanning the drive for anything malicious than I did actually using it, setting it up and filming this video. I wanted to make 100% sure nothing weird was going on.

    I was watching another gaming channel and they had a video called "my problem with emulation" it was basically an entire video lamenting the fact that there is a learning curve when it comes to emulating and how they want everything to just be plug and play. They were also talking about how having to set things up was a turn off to emulation. My thought was, then just pay someone more knowledgeable to set it all up. Minor inconvenience solved.

  • @krathoon2338
    @krathoon2338 Před 2 lety

    They also got Launchbox versions of these, but they have less games. Those are probably more plug and play.

    I noticed some hard drives similar to that have a connector that looks like the USB A connector. I guess they use an A to A cable. What I don't like about that is it would be easy for someone who doesn't know what they are doing to try to link two computers with that. USB doesn't work that way without a special cable and that straight cable can damage things if used to link PCs.

    I wouldnt recommend a Hyperspin HD unless you know what you are doing. It looks great but the problems soon start piling up. Look for Launchbox drive or my recommendation a Batocera drive which is truly Plug in and Play as its Linux so you boot from the drive and it really is one of the best ones out there

    I'm sure that you used multiple antivirus/antimalware tools to completely scan the disk before using anthing. But if not, I would recommend it. I scan any new medium that I am attaching to my hardware. Won't help with rubberduckies, but will catch lots of malicious software.

    Great video! Question, have you tried any of the teknoparrot and do you have any guns to go with it? I wanted that one because of the arcade gun games, but wanted to make sure the guns worked with this. I have the sinden light guns. Is it something like plug n play or do you have to calibrate it and get the buttons working with it? Also I see people talking launch box in the chat. I did install it but I haven't done anything with anything yet other than the teknoparrot (buying a new PC to put in my custom big buck hunter cab). Is sinden guns easy setup for launchbox? Thank you!
