Alun Wyn Jones (born 19 September 1985) is a Welsh rugby union player. He is the current captain of the Wales national team and the former captain of the Ospreys in the Pro14. He is the world's most-capped lock forward and Wales' joint most-capped player alongside Gethin Jenkins. He has also won nine caps for the British & Irish Lions. He was named as the best player of the 2019 Six Nations Championship.

As an Englishman I don't understand the hate within the UK. I love all our neighbouring countries. Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, even Ireland. I just don't understand the petty hate within... we are all closer than we think and the UK is a better place like it states, United. I'm sure underneath all the bullshit fronts people put on, they feel the same as I.
What an incredible 2nd row lock! He is the salt of the earth kind of guy with so much heart and grit! He has the “never say die” spirit and the 110% EVERY TIME he puts on the jersey! What a rugby player! A fiery attitude that has the determination and force of Welsh dragon, showing and representing his nation, Wales, and the world what being a legendary yet humble rugby players is and defining what going the extra mile is! Well done Mr. Jones! You deserve and have earned your rightful place in both Welsh and world rugby history!

Ever watched a team called the All Blacks?
Of course I have, you can’t love rugby and not have watched them. They are, admittedly, the best in the world. But Jones’ ability to control a team simply by walking onto a field (evident in Wales V Italy 2019) and continue to play at his best, for me, shows that he is an amazing player. He’s been my favourite for years and years now so obviously I’m going to be biased. But just because the All Blacks are better doesn’t change my opinion of AWJ

That’s unfair to Italy, they’ve improved majorly recently. And that doesn’t even matter, Wales were playing sloppily but that changed once Jones was brought on. It was no one’s fault. But Alun Wyn Jones brings something else. AGAIN, this is my opinion.

One of my abiding memories of AWJ was the Ireland Grand Slam game in 2019, when he seemed to be injured early doors. None of it: injury was for mortals, not him. That day, mere reality had to give way to his desire, nay demand, that Wales won.
1st name on most teamsheets. Probably play at 10 if you were stuck ! A Cymru mountain. Both physically AND mentally.
One of the greats of the beautiful game. Gives everything he's got on the pitch and that's a helluva lot. Natural leader as well. Very intelligent off it as well-he has a law degree. Fantastic inspiration to kids who want to take up playing the game.

@@anicecupoftea2216 Does he get put in with other greats?! Pretty sure he doesn't get a mention, like most of the other Welsh greats. Does he get a mention in New Zealand? South Africa? Australia? England? I think my point still stands.
Taffy Ducks Well I’ve seen him included in many great player rankings. Also the All Blacks don’t consider anyone outside of New Zealand a great player so their opinion doesn’t really matter. In fact, this probably applies to any nation. They are bound to hold their own players in higher esteem. Here in Wales we are probably more guilty than most.
I look forward to the day he gets his induction to the rugby hall of fame.
P.s I’m not here to argue with you. I’m a Welsh fan but I think he is recognised outside of Wales as the legend he is, especially after the recent grand slam.
Taffy Ducks dead. right Alun Wyn has received he's rightful respect but there plenty more of ours that didn't. Bomb is the first one who comes to mind. The best prop in these islands and beyond . When RFU has so much money swilling around that they can tempt our players . Still our country grew up making something from nothing and our players are rock hard because of it. Theirs are too busy forming there own private companies for back handers, like in Saracens we have "FazInvestments" for Owen Farrell and Vunprop Ltd for the Vunipola brothers. I hope to God that the WRU don't go down that road... Meanwhile in Blaenau Gwent new set of boys are champing at the bit in Pontypool while at Llandovery The Drovers have driven all before them.
@@anicecupoftea2216 the AB's don't consider.....",you seriously believe that? Contrary to what the UK media spews about AB arrogance,they are quite humble.And I can assure you,they rate many players outside NZ.It is why they win a lot,they do respect the opposition.
As to AWJ,all power to him.He is obviously a fine player,and from what I have observed,a leader of men.Says it all really.

From an Englishman, one of my favourite players, along with the likes of Johnson gives his all with a great deal of skill, determination and guts. To play as a forward in his abrasive style for 149 games is almost unbelievable. Almost certain to make it 150, and certain to be in with a shout for the captain of the Lions for 2021. An amazing player and an icon for Welsh rugby!

Not even the best lock in the world though, he's very overrated. Won player of the Six Nations for doing the exact same thing that Rory best did the year before, and Hartley in 2016. As a Kiwi, it was pretty clear to me that the real player of the Six Nations was Tom Curry for England. 20 years old, 2 tries, most turnovers and tackles by an individual in the tournament. I know the award is voted for by the fans, but it's not a true representation of what happened.
