Were we alive 100,000 years ago, there's a high chance at least 50% of us would've been married to a Prophet. Hell - one of us could theoretically be the Prophet of Truth's Great⁷⁷⁷⁷ Grandfather/Grandmother! Food for thought :)

It is a little ironic that the prophets were one of humanity's greatest allies, only to become one of our worst enemies after the firing of the Halo rings.
They species continued, but their history and culture was lost so this is a new version memetically.
I honestly would have preferred there to not be a Forerunner Trilogy at all and keep it as Humanity were them.
Then they got replaced by the Sangheili as Humanity's partner and greatest ally. Extra irony in that they also went in reverse, starting as enemies.

But add some muscle tone and hair to that sense of grace, throw in some space drugs and poetry, and things start making a lot more sense.
I mean, I imagine there's some sexual dimorphism, and that those ugly... we'll generously call them eyelash-covered lobes hint at the potential for real hair.
Hair-covered flesh ribbons sound horrible, but actually describe, say, the ears of many animals.
I'm... really trying.
do you think bungie was originally hinting they had some sort of resistance to the flood?
1: regret being conscious despite being directly connected to the gravemind
2: mercy being able to fight off an infection form partly, only dying when chief removed it from his chest
3: truth slowly fighting infection during the confrontation with the arbiter rather than rapidly turning into a flood form
Hmm. The Forerunner Trilogy may have hinted at this too, as Ancient Humanity made some type of vaccine against the Flood, which apparently made them retreat. I like to think they gave this vaccine to the San’shyuum and it’s basically an Ancient equivalent to the Spartan 1.1 formula Sergeant Johnson took!
Maybe. They could also just be strong willed like Keyes perhaps
@@xx_noobdestroyer_xx9531 true!
More likely a psychological play by the Gravemind. Letting religious leaders preach while infected, that would instill absolute despair in followers, if not making them willing to join the Flood, at the very gruesome least that there'd be biomass
I think in these cases:
1. The Flood can reform supercells into *anything* that they need. So the Regret we see attached to the Gravemind probably isn't actually him, it's a creepy Flood-created avatar.
2. Perhaps, like Jenkins, the infection form was old, damaged, or it just hadn't embedded its infection tendrils in him because it couldn't get close enough.
3. Truth wasn't infected by an infection form, but by spores. Infection by spores is much slower.
Slight correction: Regret made the speech about the "tyranny of the roll". Truth simply helped come up with the idea of it as part of their joint plan to become hierarchs.
Wait Greg Bear passed away? That’s sad. I especially liked his Halo books, but War Dogs was interesting too. God watch over him.
I just had a crazy realization. The old halo map cold storage had records of it being accessed via portals by a sentient race after the halos were fired. There was also a notable ship crash on Alpha halo with again an unknown sentient species active after the halos were fired. What if the endless form halo infinite are the meddlers. They are the only species on record that survived the halos being fired.
5:40 Don't worry. Way worse things have happened in the Halo series. An ancient Human-San'Shyuum or Forerunner-San'Shyuum "love story" is still orders of magnitude better than what the freak happened in E1S8 of the Halo TV show. Thank the Rings that abomination is non-canon.

It never ceases to be hilarious to me that the species of the old farts that are the Prophets were at one time basically keepers of the Mantle of Intergalactic Rizz at one point lol 😂😂😂

Intergalactic rizz is a phrase that I think would MELT the brains of anybody born before 1970😂
3:23 - San’Shyuum is about to become my most searched images of the day. Literally slim thick.
When you mentioned the population of the prophets being around 1000 after the war, I knew what would follow and there’s an actual term for this as well. To quote from google, “A genetic bottleneck occurs when a population is greatly reduced in size, limiting the genetic diversity of the species. Scientists believe cheetahs have already survived at least two genetic bottleneck events.” Basically the population gets so low that piping your sister becomes your only option.
So incest becomes wincest. 😎👍🏼 gotta keep the species alive at all costs.
The Prophets won their civil war game of Sid Meyer’s Civilization because of a science win where they just fucked off and left.
That is honestly one of the most fitting outcomes I could possibly imagine for them.
That makes me want to see a Forerunner era of Door Monster's 'Doing Something About Gandhi' sketch which ends with the San'shyuum saying "You guys do what you want, we're going to Andromeda..."
The "Elegant" san'shyuum were seen again. Its even talked about in Halo Broken Circle. The san'shyuum we know are this way because of centuries of inbreeding and living on a low gravity enviroment. Theres even a part in the book about how the females taken from the san'shyuum homeworld had to "adjust" to the appearence of the males on High Charity
So its to assume that the san'shyuums became the frail ugly way they are because of inbreeding and living on high charity for untold generations
“Stuck in washing machines”
the word "iconic" by hiddenxperia has now been taken over by "what if i told you"
Can't wait for the prophet dating sim
Here's one to think about. We know that the Ancient Humans were never actually targeting the Forerunners. They were waging war against the Flood and the Forerunners were simply caught in the crossfire. Which raises the question, what if the Humans _had_ warned the Forerunners and the two had allied against the Flood?
Yeah, the Ancient Humans being too busy sterilizing Flood infected worlds to explain to anybody why they were doing it is a pretty weak point in the lore.
Most likely the Forerunners would never believe Humanity, and I can think of several reasons why (to which the Forerunners doubtlessly would have infinitely more). The Forerunners have resented Humanity since the Precursors favored them for the Mantle instead of the Forerunners, and that was over 10 million years before the Flood was a thing. Unlike Humanity, which underwent an unknown number of technological dark ages and had to essentially restart their civilizations a bunch of times, the Forerunners never had that problem. Despite them having their fair share of internal conflicts and loss of old knowledge into myth, Forerunner civilization stayed more or less cohesive across all that time, and one constant would be their ironclad belief that they and only they would ever be worthy of championing the Mantle. Humanity believed that they instead were more worthy (which is what the Precursors intended) and the Forerunners saw that belief as insolent and heretical. Therefore, the two species have always been rivals of each other, to the extent that the Ancient Human Empire (AHE) we know of purposefully expanded towards the galactic rim with Earth being on the fringes in order to get further away from Forerunner influence.
With the two powers being such constant rivals, it stands to reason that anything the other's government or military says or does would be put into question by the other. The Forerunners would be perfectly reasonable to assume that the Flood was just a false flag attack by the AHE to justify an invasion. Or they could believe it was an elaborate hoax. Or they could think the Flood is a bioweapon purposefully engineered by the AHE to use against the Ecumene, and that may be it got out of control. The only thing that mattered to the Forerunners is that the AHE was attacking them out of nowhere, and even if they believed the Flood was an actual thing and did what the AHE said it did, all they would see is another problem caused by the humans.
We all know that the Prophet of Regret is just built different

Pretty sure they looked like goats. Cross breeding lead to what we see now.
My personal hypothesis on that is that the guys in the covenant are grossly malformed imbreeds, and the good loking ones are still around in Janjur Qom, cuz let's be real, the ship that took them off world couldn't possibly carry enough individuals to mantain genetic diversity.

Broken circle did a great job delving a little into the prophets. After the writ of union. And that Elites people survived. During that huge gap of time the San Shayum lost their homeworld to their star going nova, right?
Supposedly. It is claimed to have "surprisingly" or "suddenly" gone supernova. Which is why I say supposedly, because stars don't suddenly and unexpectedly explode. So either the writers didn't research that topic, the prophets are horrendous astronomers, or somebody's lying in-universe.

@@mr.noneyabusinesstm8845 To creative writers it shouldn't be, but because 343 writers probably had "progressive" themes in mind, they didn't want to associate "free love" and "lol dude weed" with the bad guys. So a few prophets are still out there. It would be nice to see them in a future Halo game.
If they are, I would love to see them make a new military using the Prelates.
Cheetas actually once bounced back from under twenty members at one point in the prehistoric past. While they do suffer a number of problems as a result of basically all being genetically siblings, they still show that it's possible.
Interesting that you didn't mention the prelate character that showed up on the ark, and how she hinted that the sand shayyum are planning a major comeback

This is absolutely in no way related to the video but what y'all think the stains in the Halo ruins are about? Little brown stains all over the floors and stuff.
