Iirc that's exactly how the covenant was formed: by mistranslating the glyphs on the chassis of a fragment of Mendicant Bias.
That's pretty much how the religion of The Covenant was formed. It was a complete mistranslation and misunderstanding of the last Terminal from Halo 3 and a few other places. Because the Forerunners have words that have no equivalent in any of their languages, or Human ones, Great Journey was used as the closest approximation and they mistranslated a part that was supposed to mean "False Transcendence" as a disparaging remark about still living on after firing The Array and thus inheriting The Mantle of Responsibility. So, from it, the Covenant believed activating The Halo Array would make them as great as their gods. Would make them as gods too.
Even their phrase "Your destruction is the will of the gods, and we are their instrument" is a mistranslated fragment of Medicent Bia's threat to the Forerunners after being turned by The Flood. Its all super fascinating stuff, really.
So to anyone who just watches this videos for fun and stuff, Xytan was 11ft 7in, while the arbiter you see in games is only 7ft 10in

Not really defeated. The grunt merely weakened Tartarus's shields enough for Johnson to wound him before the brute annihilated the grunt. Said grunt was a deacon who led the grunt who started the human-Covanent war.

Yeah! Like this hulking brute of an elite being MUCH bigger then the rest of the elites with armor as tough as a Wraith’s with shielding to match. One look at him and you would think: “What abomination made THAT!?” Extra terror if he’s FAST too, betraying his size. Like a speeding warthog coming at you.
And i feel he would use a full metallic sword made from forerunner metal. Like forget energy blades, he’s going classic style! Hell, he’d be the sangheili version of Megatron in terms of strength and skill!

There's a difference between letting it get to your head and presenting yourself in the way subordinates look at you already. He could have made himself larger and with egregious ornamentation, instead just went with a 30m tall representation that probably had more to do with allowing all of the crew members to see the hologram due to the sheer scale of some of the muster halls and auditoriums it would be sent into.

To add to Wig Wog's point: There's a difference between not letting it get to your head and knowing that other's perception of you commands authority and respect. Allowing them to believe as they already did, leaning in to it, would make them more agreeable and thus a more cohesive unit. A commander that doesn't show confidence in his own authority is soon stripped of it by a newcomer

He's basically Lord Hood but for the Covenant. Such a shame he died so soon. Imagine how fucked the prophets would be if this guy had joined the humans. Prophet of Truth's fleet wouldn't have stood a chance at all. You are right though, this guy was pretty much going to do what Atriox succeeded in doing, recruit rebels of the Covenant, create a new faction.

Madara's death, and Naruto in general, is just stupid. This is fairly consistent with deaths of powerful characters in the Halo universe. Spartan IIs died in all kinds of random ways after spending their entire lives training. A Spartan died from fucking dirt in the jets in his suit

Am I wrong that I prefer the larger, more intimidating elite design from Reach to all other representations? Like the Elites in Reach actually made me reconsider my engagements and genuinely posed a threat. Where as the other games I run through them like yellow traffic lights. Also the whole fact that they didn't speak English in Reach was a way better choice IMO. The Elites of Reach have an err of mysticism and ferocity. Something I find lacking in the other halo games.

The elites seem larger as the Spartan 3's were smaller than the Spartan 2's. If I remember correctly the Spartan 3's started their training when they were much older, and had a different concoction of surgical enhancements hence them being smaller. This is why the elites look bigger in halo reach

The grunt didn't start up the bomb. The bomb was deactivated and once the grunt hit the button the message played but still nothing would happen. The engineers fixed the bomb because that's what they do, fix shit. They reset the timer which obviously led to the bomb going off. The grunt actually tried to stop them because he understood english and knew what the message meant.
Yeah, but let's be honest, the idea of the greatest Elite in history dying because a Grunt was playing with a nuke is just too damned funny.

This story is awfully similar to a story from history. In Japan, there was a Daimyo named Uesugi Kenshin and he was considered to be the avatar of the god of war on earth by many. Just as he's gathering allies and looking to sweep across Japan with his army, he just dies of natural causes. The reason it reminds me of this is because you've got a leader, revered by their people, gathering a massive force to make a difference in a huge conflict, only for it all to disappear overnight.
Our real history is filled with stories like this, so in a way, this feels pretty realistic. Sometimes things just happen this way. I don't think it's bad that it was anti-climactic.

Spartan 3s were badass dude. Just kids with fraction of the training, augmentations and equipment that the Spartan 2s had. But they were tenacious as hell, fiercely loyal to each other and ingenious like no others.
They had more augments then the Spartan 2s had

@@kirani111 true it’s been a minute since I’ve read up on the lore.but from what I recall since it was a newer generation the augments were better and more of them, imo they were on par with Spartan 2s besides their armor being weaker

Xytan is quite literally on a whole other level in comparison
He seems to be more like Preton J Cole of the covenant. Remember, before the events of Halo CE, Admiral Preston J Cole was admired even more than Master Chief and the rest of the Spartan IIs because he won every single space engagement with the Covenant, which is even more impressive considering that the UNSC was always on the backfoot when it came to naval combat.

@@catastrophegaming5984 nah the way they set up his abilities, and the fact he's more of a religious zealot than the prophets (hated the UNSC), and his fleet being so damn big and tactical in naval combat can't be retconned back in with ease or he should've won and set off the rings..
The fucker had over 200 ships, millions of religious zealots and was probably one of the most tactical geniuses the sangheili has ever born witness too, i guarantee you that if would have stomped all over the covenant and the UNSC, they basically had to kill him and his entire fleet off just so everyone else could actually build on the lore

A freind of mine who recommended this video to me, had a theory that the admiral had been given the secret order to hunt down atriox and the banished with the promise that he would be given the title of arbiter as a way of restoring it to a noble tile rather than a way for disgraced elites to earn back their honor.
Xytan needs to be rewritten as still being alive, that wouldn’t bother me at all.
Just have it be after witnessing the flood in person in battle he decided the covenant are a secondary threat along with an Oracle to guide them to planets with flood infestations and began a long process of going into unknown space and exterminating the flood on these forgotten forerunner worlds.
It's unlikely but it would be cool if he were able to unite the remaining Covenant factions one way or another and become the leader of the Covenant 2.0.

He's actually taller than even the Ur-Didact. The Ur-Didact stood ar 11 foot 4 inches, Xytan stood at 11 foot 6 inches

i would fix this by saying that a slip space portal opened due to the explosion and took him in to meridian where he was place in to crio-sleep by offensive bias because upon checking is memory (and current events) he find out that the humans are about to set mendicant bias (and bias will help them against the gravemind precursor) out of is prison to claim the mantle and in the final battle chief and arbiter will need his help. (i imagine this happening in the final halo battle for maybe halo 7 or 8)

I’d like to see Xytan pull a “admiral trench” and that maybe he survived the explosion but was fitted with cybernetics to keep him alive and as a result lived in shame. It may not be the best idea but it would definitely be interesting. Halo needs more compelling villains like Atroix.

Xytan appears and is mentioned in the halo books ghosts of onyx and glasslands. Which takes place during the end of halo 3. Voro is also mentioned in these books alongside xytan. These are on audible and I just finished them. Would recommend 10/10

I mean, I guess you're not but in what way did you find them horrendous in comparison with Reach one or CE?
@@MasterPiBi Sorry if my response is too long but don't get me wrong. The Reach design looks ridiculous. They're much more limber but equally heavy looking. Bulky even? It looks strange. The Halo 4-5 designs are too large and not lethal-looking enough. But they do look savage. Just not lethal. Halo 3 designs look really odd but are iconic. Basically I'm saying the design is hard to get no matter the game. But the H2A design was.... Mediocre to me. That's just my opinion. Here's my reasons for why it has the worst design:
1. They are too fragile looking. They really just appear to be ungraceful because of this.
2. They are not mysterious like their newer Reach designs/older CE designs.
2. The mandibles are too small and the head is really compact. (Halo 4-5 Elites had heads too large but I preferred that look).
3. (My biggest issue) the hooves. They have no toes. They have actual hooves.
4: The physiology doesn't work. I think Reach got it in terms of plausibility. The legs and feet don't look like they should support the Sangheili in H2A.
What I liked:
1. The armor was nice. It had a nice redesign.
2. I enjoyed their voices. They weren't brutish.
3. The Arbiter's armor looked good with the design.
Watching this after getting the synopsis of the Halo TV series and as cool as Ep. 1 was, had the people like the showrunner for instance hasn't even looked into Halo Lore, much less played the games, I mean like at all.
If I had to choose a actual showrunner, hands down I'd choose HiddenXperia and what I would recommend is bring these stories like this one, to life.
A game with this guy as the main character would probably be a really nice project for big game developer studio, especially with the new generation of consoles being out now. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
