I have NEVER seen a car system described so thoroughly or comprehensively, in terms anyone can understand. It sure beats throwing parts at a problem! Keep up the good work and thank you.
I agree, very impressive, well done!
TurboFo_Oil_Changer Porsche_Light_Saver I third that. Awesome video
Couldn't have said it better myself. So I didn't. Bravo, young man!
im with yall. i have watched alot of different diy automotive vids. eric the car guy and others. this will be tons of help. 30 seconds in and i can already tell. like and subscribe
Maurice P you said what I tried to say. Good work Justin.
In all honesty; people like you make owning used cars fun. I was able to diagnose my entire EGR system in one video as opposed to just the egr valve. I did not know about the VSV solenoid and that was my cars issue. I can sleep better because videos like this exist. Liked, commented and subscribed.
I need to check the VSV solenoid on my Toyota corolla. I cleaned the EGR valve and replaced the egr modulator. I'm still getting rough idle. 🍺😎👍
This is the best EGR system explanation I've seen
for real man
Thorough, methodical, articulate, easy to comprehend. Absolutely beautiful job :) Thanks!
Excellent video, explaining, tutorial, lessons, diagrams, instructions. Clear & easy to understand without being condescending. You are a great teacher & have the knowledge & patience to teach professionally. Thank you so much for your time & effort. Look forward to seeing /hearing from you.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world. You have a gift for clear communication of automotive concepts and how to diagnose problems. By far the best video on this topic!
This is one of the best explanations on EGR systems I've ever seen. Great job!
Excellent job, great diagram of how the EGR system and associated parts work together.
Thanks so much for your excellent video. It helped me track down the cause of my P0401 error code on my 1997 Camry. It turned out to be the Vacuum Modulator- probably one of the easiest components to replace in the EGR subsystem.
I used to love working on cars back in college and shortly there after, from about 1980 to 1990. My cars tended to be from the early days of emission controls, so they were very simple to fix. Then I got busy with life. This is my first attempt working on a relatively modern car, and your video really helped me understand the troubleshooting and repair steps.
I look forward to watching more of your videos.
This may be the best tutorial that I have ever seen on CZcams. Great job and presentation.
Very practical and useful. Justin shows you the theory and then shows you how to determine if you have a problem with the various parts.
I've used your video twice to keep my Toyota working well. I can't thank you enough.
Hey man this is the absolute best EGR diagnosis video I've ever seen thank you so much for your help
Dude this video is SO helpful. I like that you gave an overview as to how the whole system works, it helps build that understanding. Thank you!
Will you marry me?
I rarely comment on these videos but this is one of the absolute best I've ever seen. Great explanation, easy to follow along with and thourough. Good job man
I am VERY appreciative of great videos like this. I'd just like to add one additional thought. I have on '01 4 cyl. Camry where I first (without testing anything) replaced the VSV valve and EGR Valve. Cleared the P0401 code but it came right back. Changed gas cap, Vacuum modulator, and a couple evap lines. Cleared the code but it came right back. Changed the VSV again with a better quality (aisin) part and relocated it to the firewall. Code came right back. Cleaned throttle body. Still the same code. Finally, as a last-ditch effort to be able to get my car to pass inspection, I spent $22 (including shipping) from ebay for a used ECU. It's been 500 miles and I haven't seen the code yet.
Dude. You rock. Bought a $55 hand vac pump and diagnosed my modulator was bad, the one u said hardly ever goes bad lol. Saved big bucks bro. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and explaining it in a way that actually helps non-mechanics.
Damn bro, you should be a professor. You explain the components and processes really well! Also you just saved me probably 1500 bucks. Thank you!!!!
Thanks for your help. I was able to use your breakdown of the system to find out that the vacuum modulator in my 95 Corolla needed replacement. I did everything else you discussed except the modulator. I ended up pulling the vacuum modulator out of another 95 Corolla we have, to compare. I guess the diaphragm in the vacuum modulator in the first car broke, but the second car's modulator worked properly. Thanks again!! :)
Mr Lee ive never watched a repair diy video described as well as you have done with this one .As a toyota mechanic for the last 25 plus years a commend your most perfectly described and accurately taught lesson to the home mecbanics with the p0401 code issue.a senior toyota mecbanic wanted to get my take on your video and i have to say im impressed completely and i cant find anywhere you could improve on it its class A number 1 all the way!!!
Amazingly helpful. So clearly and thoroughly explained. The whiteboard diagram really helped to make sense of what and WHY to look for. Thanks Justin.
Awesome stuff. I am doing this procedure on my 92 corolla, and thanks to your video I now have a much better understanding of the EGR system.
Good Job, I used you video to successfully diagnose my Dads VSV being clogged and turned off engine light. Thanks for a great video, good job!
THANKS for the informative video. You are really good at explaining things! I'm going to use this information to test my EGR system instead of throwing parts at my car.
One of the best-most informative "fix it" videos I've ever seen. Bravo.

For the first time in all my life i could understand how this EGR system works, i'm having a nightmare with one 4sfe toyota camry, in brazil, and nobody knows how to fix it here, so I'm graduating on CZcams. kkkk, and finally i found one good teacher to this EGR crazy systens. thanks so much bro.

An articulate and thorough step by step explanation of the EGR circuit on my Camry. My Idle went to hell and now I can test the individual components myself. I wish my VSV switch wasn't buried under the backside of the engine. But Thank you, Well done
Finally I fully understand the EGR system. Thank you Mr. Justin Le
Excellent explanation of how the EGR system works. Thank you!

Awesome video Justin, you saved me $240.00 dealer quote to fix problem. Turned out to be the P Q ports were clogged. Cleared them out with a paper clip and no more P401 code. Can't thank you enough!

I'm having so many issues keeping my Estima tcr11 running when hot. Got a suspicion it's EGR and this has to be best and most well described vid on Web. Still not sure if it's EGR but now I know how the system work. THANK YOU 👍🏻😁

What an awesome troubleshooting video of the EGR system, thanks for sharing your knowledge! I will use this to diagnose a 2002 Camry with your information/lesson! Thanks again!
This is the kind of video that should be trending. Wish I had this dude as my neighbor.
I was about to buy a egr. But with this video. I tested everything like he explained and the only problem my car had was a plugged vacuum line in the throttle body I took it out and cleaned it with a throttle body spray solvent.I spend only 6 dollars for the can and fix the car problem no more check engine nice I'm happy.
Dude, thats a really nice and very well explaination of all the components on the intake manifold, and also a good way to troubleshoot any problem related to the intake ,thanks for the video and keep the good work, you just got one more suscriber to you channel!!👍👍👏👏

I removed the entire EGR assembly for cleaning. I used an extra reach 12 mm racheting wrench for the three nuts in the back and good luck reaching the 4th HIDDEN 12 mm nut underneath the EGR cooler, on my Toyota PRIUS Gen 3. Good video!
