    Why did I decide to purchase heated gear for the first time at age 60? I have snowmobiled a lot with out heated gear.. Heated handle bars are great on snowmobiles.. Goodbye to those huge bulky mittens.
    I froze my face as a teenager about 1977 snowmobiling with my open face motorcycle helemet and a bubble style snap on face sheild ..
    I forze a toe once snow skiing .. I like my Ski boots way to tight for more control .. I didn't even know my toe was frozen until it started to unthaw 2 miles from the ski hill in my car wearing non insulated farm boots..
    I have some frost bitten fingers too that get cold now way easier than non damaged fingers do ..
    I decided to get a battery powered vest for deer hunting too .. Walking you sweat like crazy then when you try to sit perfectly still you freeze..
    I really admire how Native Americans survived Winters.. I think their Animal Fur clothes must have been well made and amazing..
    My Grandfather made a good living during the Great Depression .. Trapping Beavers and Hunting Mink .. The hydes were Exported to Rusia back then.. My GG Grandparnets all had horse hide blankets to cover them self riding in an open sleigh ..

    Have you tried the Warm and Safe line? They tend to be the technology leaders and their controller is made in the USA. The Chinese controllers are copies of the Warm and Safe design.

      Yes, I have personally been wearing Warm and Safe line of heated clothing since I want to say... 2008? Their stuff is GREAT. I still have my original jacket... and it works. About 5 years ago I upgraded to their waterproof version and still use it today. Have tried all of the gloves and glove liners. Good stuff. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

    Great overview. I have had one of the first heated insoles for horseback riding back in the days. It was not only difficult to control, it still had a battery pack with wires running up your legs. You really had to be careful with the wire placement. TBH, I did use them only when absolutely necessary. Heated gear really has come a long way. I will try this winter a heated vest and heated socks in combination with heated grips. Vest and socks will run on batteries, as I am not sure how much my motorcycle battery can take.

      Hi Sandra, yeah heated gear is a great way to go when you want to ride year round and live in colder climates. It's awesome that companies are putting time and effort into creating and updating their products. Thanks for watching. Ride safe.

    What about heated boots? I'm an Aussie postie (mailman), I deliver mail by motorcycle, and in winter cold and rain I find that leather boots offer no thermal protection to the feet, particularly when they get soaked through. Hands and feet are the most vulnerable points for cold to get in, and this drastically reduces performance and safety.

      Hi Wolfeman, I would suggest looking at getting a one piece riding suit. Something like the First Gear Thermo suit might work. It's waterproof and insulated: www.chapmoto.com/firstgear-thermo-one-piece-suit-parent-350-5423

      Hi Michael, thanks for checking out our video. Most of the time heater motorcycle gear will come with the necessary wiring--there may be some parts or optional pieces that need to be purchased. Be sure to read the product descriptions before ordering so you know exactly what you are getting and what additional accessories you made need. Thanks again. Ride safe.

    Wind chill is the effect of wind on bare skin not on clothing is that not right? It has no effect on clothing. Heated gear is great. It protects from ambient temperature. Your thoughts.

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  Před 4 lety +2

      Windchill for sure has a role in motorcycle gear. The faster you go, the colder the wind is that is HITTING the Outermost shell of your gear. That Cold (not the wind, but the cold) will eventually transfer from layer to layer and you will end up feeling it. Unless you have a barrier such as this Heated Gear. It really is a game changer. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

    • @bvcxzgt5451
      @bvcxzgt5451 Před 4 lety +2

      Wind chill is about reduction of the air film thickness and an increase in forced convection due to air movement. These affects apply just as much to a brick wall or a jacket as they do to your skin. Evaporative cooling has more of an affect on bare skin or wet gear, but that's separate from wind chill.

    • @curtisssmith5204
      @curtisssmith5204 Před 2 lety

      Windchill is just the act of moving air carrying away heat. It has no effect on inanimate objects but humans have a body temperature that must be maintained. This can be mitigated with insulated clothing but to protect against a sixty mile per hour wind, you’d look like the Michelin man. Heated gear is definitely the way to go.

      @@curtisssmith5204 Right. You can't for instance take a glass of water outside in 38f and pass 35mph via a fan past and freeze the water.

    What about the mobile warming dual powered heated jacket? Would you rate mobile warming higher if you had used that one in your review?

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  Před 6 lety

      Hello Stephanie. The fact that is plugs into the bike, yes. But of the three brand options I would still rate it 3rd. The three heat patches work okay... but on a powersports vehicle, heat all the way up and down your torso, back, neck and if not a vest... down the sleeves is a HUGE plus. My opinion - Kyle Thanks for watching! We appreciate you.

    • @stephieadele
      @stephieadele Před 6 lety +1

      Chaparral Motorsports the one I am looking at has more than three. I believe it has five. Two chest, the arms, and a large back. Thank you for the speedy reply.

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  Před 6 lety +1

      Thank you for your clarification. A much better powersports option for sure. The Tourmaster and FirstGear units are about 30 degrees hotter than the Mobile Warming unit you have mentioned and heat adjustment is easier / more accessible when on the bike. They ALL do a great job and each may be a better fit for different people. Hope this has helped. - Kyle

      I have a set of mobile warming gear. It is pretty marginal. Enough for less than an hr then it goes flat. The vest has gaps which allow air to circulate , so I need to use high, even then it is difficult to feel it unless it is directly against the skin, but that means a complete redress when I get to work. I bought the gear when travelling 1hr to work, I'd use it if less than 5C, down to -5C. After a few times I decided just to leave it off, the gloves where OK, but again going flat quickly, and the socks I'd say are the best. With the remote and on low they would last the full hr, maybe a bit more. They all needed charging twice per day for commuting, which again was a hassle sorting out 5 batteries and all the fiddliness of removing, charging, and refitting them.
      It isn't worth the hassle. I just put up with the only slightly more chilled ride, now though my commute is 320ks, leaving at 5am so I am looking for something less gimmicky and more fit for purpose.
