great video. thanks. very informative. question for you.... at the weight of the spark can I really take it out and fly around the park or around the neighborhood? especially in the metroplex aren't I limited by airspace restrictions?
What are you using to have both side to side drones next to each other inorder to have your side to side comparisons when they are the same shot while still moving smoothly? example at the 3:22 mark. I ask because of the same two cars at the same time for both shots.

AuthenTech - Ben Schmanke I would go for spark for a selfie drone. For aerial phantom 4 pro is my choice
4K and a three axis gimbal still puts the Mavic Pro ahead of the Spark
That spark video is so incredibly choppy. Is the original like that or is that happening when you put them together
What's not clear in the price scenario is price for Mavic with controler is $1000 and the price for Spark appears to be $500 with-out controler? How much will the controler add to the price?

which would you recommend for aerial real estate photography? I know the magic shoots is raw but is the spark JPEG version acceptable. I'm not really interested in the video 4K side but would like to make sure the Spark image quality isn't that big of a drop from the mavic.

Does the Mavic have all the same flight modes as the Spark (i.e. Quickshot, TapFly, ActiveTrack, Gesture)? It looks like Quickshot might not be supported with the Mavic. Can't find any documentation to determine if those are features of DJI GO 4 or are a feature specific to the respective drone.

Thanks for a great comparison! One question about the movie quality: On the movies in this comparison, the Spark movies are "jittering", while the Mavic is super smooth. Is this due to settings, or is this jittering i always there and impossible to get rid of in the Spark movies?
Very nice review!I'm getting the spark my first drone , I know there's cheaper one's but I still want a reliable and reputable drone and from doing my research DJI nails it .Now if I like to drone and find I'm using it often I will buy the new Maverick pro 2 when it's released , How does this sound for a first timer plan ?

During all the Spark video reviews I have seen, the video footage seems glitchy. It seems like there is a slight pause every 0.5 seconds. Any idea what is causing that?

In all the videos on CZcams with video from the Spark I see the video stutter, is that due to the video editing software or because the video frame rate is changed from the original (24fps changed to 30 fps or something). You can clearly see this in your side by side comparisons.

I would like to buy a spark. I love it!!! But I find the spark footage choppy. Movement is not fluid. The mavic video is smooth. Is this normal? Or something to do with different frame rates in the side by side comparison?

Any explanation on why the Spark has jerky movements? All reviews of the Spark I have seen has that same problem. Is it just an encoding or upscaling issue?

I'm considering these two drones. I want to use it to take some real estate photos (more recreationally to give to property owners as gifts, not as a business), and also take some photos of my family. I don't have a 4k monitor at home so I don't even know if I would shoot 4k video (Mavic). Would the Spark be a better choice than the Mavic Pro?

one of the greatest reviews i've seen, quick into details and key differences, I just have a few questions i didn't find the answers in the web-
is the dji app any good?
does the live view in your phone look ok or it lags, and sometimes stucks and don't look good
how those drones connect with the controller, I mean, you said that with the phone only the drones fly on wifi, so how they fly with the controller? and when you use wifi is there any delay between the time you made a commend and when the drone do the commend?
when you lose connection with the drones and the return to home mode is on, is the obstacle avoiding is also on and the drone is still safe or it might hit someone or something in the way?
and last - I don't like the colors on the spark's camera, they seems weak and not colorful at all, is it easy to correct colors when editing a video?

How would the Spark be indoors? Shooting indoors with a smaller drone sounds like the way to go, but I'm CONCERNED ABOUT LOW LIGHT situations. Should I be? I see using it indoors often to capture dolly and jib shots. Thank you.

If I'm hearing it right, you're using the Adjustable Noise Reduction effect in Premiere to get rid of the white noise from the mic, right? I'm obviously over a year late, but if you don't know, you can scale the settings down to kill the warbling echo effect at the end of sentences. But thanks for the video! I just got gifted a Spark, and this was one of the top hits on comparisons for it. Good stuff, man.

Ive been running a P3P on my dairy farm with those $25goggles,smartphone and litchi program-all thanks to one of your videos, Ben!
Been very satisfied with P3P.but now I am considering the spark due to its portability,potential range and easy charging via micro usb.Sometimes my Dogs are rounding up cattle out of sight and would be great to have eyes in the sky.
Farmer Farmerer if you could afford mavic then you should get it since it has 10 minutes more flight time and is faster . And since its heavier it wont get blown by the wind like spark and camera is better. Mavic still isnt too big when its folded . Its your choice man

Peep! Help me out. I have some experience flying a quad but just for fun. I want one of these to take some photos and vids. I'm far from a professional and it will be for 90% recreational use. I do however want to get good quality photos for real estate purposes. Can the spark hold up to that?

I ordered my Spark yesterday. Expected ship date is 30-June. While I haven't yet taken my Part 107 exam, I do intend to use my Mavic for general contracted work when I have passed that. The primary plan for now is to use the Spark more for the fun stuff. I expect, though, that the Spark may creep into the business end (indoor work?), just as the Mavic has been doing all the fun stuff to date. In short, I anticipate a muddy delineation.

That was a brilliant shot when you had the mavic in a bag and tried putting the spark in with it, showing that the sparks dimensions are actually tougher for traveling, which I think is huge when comparing these cameras. Thank you!

I am going to use the spark! This will be my first drone over $100. I will be using it to film my family doing outdoor activities! I am so excited 😆! I have seen, however, that the video on the spark tends to jump while recording in a couple of frames you shot and some in another review. Any thoughts 💭 on this? I have watched about 20 of your videos! You do an excellent job! Keep it up!

Great review, but why compare the two which has different price point? Kind of like comparing a BMW 300 series to a 700 series, it’s just two very different levels.
I’m about to receive my very first drone which is the Spark and what other drones out there at the $500 price point that has same or better quality air time? Video and Pix quality?, durability? Command and control? Etc.

For me, the biggest differences are the smart features in the spark: Helix, Rocket, Bokeh, and the whole lifting off from the hand and just using your palm to control it feature.

after updates . do a imu calibrate, and gimbal calibration. that usually fixes the focusing problem.
