What's your thoughts overall? How does its footage and features compare to the Mavic, is Mavic still the king?
Lemmings The mavic is still king, it has superior image quality, flight time and a 3-axis gimbal. The spark is more of a beginner drone or drone on the side.

before i watched this, i've watch dji spark review by casey neistat (sparks vs mavic) and review by MKBHD (sparks vs inspire1). but this one is the most fun to watch yet very informative and comprehensive i can say. thumbs up!

Azlan Aziz both reviewers suck IMHO..... nothing better then a catalogue magazine. iPhoneso is doing a much better job.... and without 100.000K RED(over rated for video at CZcams....).
Yes cause we don't want quality cameras on CZcams vid production.
BTW 8K monitors just hitting the market - so I await the change in attitude…
Richard Werkhoven monitors are not going to do anything when CZcams video source is limited. And we certainly are not gonna sit in front our 8k tv anytime soon watching 8k movies being streamed. So it’s still pointless. If you want high resolution go watch true IMAX 70mm with 18k resolution or if you want to go the extra mile take a look at deep space satellite shots at 128K.

Would be great to see his reviews of adjacent technologies to photography, e.g. dashcams and home security cameras. Reviews in those products are not great (and hard to trust since everyone seems to be getting kickbacks and freebies on youtube.)

Saw you in the front line during the presentation in NY. Sure you had the Spark in pre-view... So much fun your reviews...A pity that the Spark has no 4K.
I think the customers Spark is targeted on care more about convenience than resolution. Spark's 1080p videos still look awesome in my opinion.
4K is overrated for drones. Huge files. Brutal editing. End product is photography, not pixel peeping self-pleasuring. : )
Sure, if you have the purpose and a Phantom, etc., but look at the best Mavic stuff and say it's a stunning visual splendor, I dunno. I watch the same footage on a 65 inch HDR Vizio and toggle between formats and it's more the quality of the work and the lens and focus than the 4x pixels. Same reason I don't like iPhone video ... : )
Anyway, I'm sure DJI will make this first little Sparkster lighter, with denser batteries, upgrade it, go to 4K HDR, etc.
I think they hit the price point at $500 ($800 with all the stuff to actually benefit from having a drone) and this is a business of "first to market" like throwing the first punch ... if gopro isn't freaking out, they're in denial. All DJI has to do now is drop the camera body as a removable device, up the spec to something like a Sony RX100 point-n-shoot or Sony 4K "Action Cam" (like the one Mr iPhoneDo uses) and gopro's days are numbered.
I used to see almost only gopro and now I see competitors in my sports using generic action cameras ... and drones ... everybody and their dog (literally) has a drone.
Also, for $500, with blade guards, this is a camera a pre-teen kid can use and get great results without it going into a tree in the first minute (karma) or being so heavy and noisy (almost any done bigger than a Mavic) that everyone gets annoyed or afraid of it roaring around them.
Pam Candas at the end of the day this is all H264 which is shit to edit (color edit, for example) hahah. Same with all less than 1200$ drones

2) Does it have avoidance in the rear? or when traveling backwards?

Hey iPhonedo, what do you think of the Yuneec drones? I think DJI is like the "GoPro" or "Apple" of drones, while Yuneec might be the "Sony" of drones.

From what I can see they don't have a real competition to spark or mavic. The breeze doesn't have a gimbal and is therefore out of the picture

About what? Mavic has greater distance, 4K, and considerably longer flight time. It also come with the remote.
It's also twice the price. Mavic is a great drone but this has to to be the first choice for anyone getting their first decent drone. The extra price of the mavic doesn't warrant the extras it can do.

The spark could be super handy doing roofing. Maybe in the future there could be a construction app that could use the camera to get measurements visually...

I already got one. I enjoy to play with the drone. It gives me awesome picture and easy to control. Although I'm a beginner for drone but to get control and take picture in the same time is easy. Photo brightness and setting adjustable. Its better to have a remote so that we can get the longer distance and attitude. To compare with Mavic and Phantom its definitely different segment and target market statement. So far I'm satisfy with Spark.

Awesome review man! It looks like a really great drone.... but it seems like the video footage is a little choppy or jerky. Those features are super cool... hopefully they port some of them over to the Mavic Pro!

Am I right, that it doesn't have a RAW-JPEG setting? Does it have a 720p 60p option in video?
if you use the return home mode...will it return home to a moving platform? if I'm on a boat and want to get an arial view...then command - return home will it return to the original GPS location or return to the operator who is moving through the water on a boat?

This is a really interesting looking UAV but my one concern is the hand recognition thing, will this recognise any hand? i.e. You're flying it at a field and someone walking by puts up their hand palm out will it lock onto that and follow?

Why does the image seem to stutter? on the edges it seems to. Is it a lens thing? spark thing? framerate thing? youtube thing? the centre looks great and smooth.. but the outsides don't.. what's the reason?
