For its price point, everything about this drone is still state of the art.
totally agree, I still have it and it is still working really good
@@balo92 does it have 60fps recording? If at what res
@@jographyy nope
I still use the DJI Spark, I was using it yesterday to capture videos during our travels. Thanks for the video, enjoyed it.
The DJI spark was my first and only drone and I love to fly it to this day!
You can use an OTG cable between the controller and the mobile device. By using an OTG cable, the drone's range will be significantly improved, and the live video feed to the mobile device will be smoother.
If you use a standard USB to Lightning cable will it not work?
I like this revisiting series👍
Thanks
I bought the Spark back in early 2018. I remember watching your videos about it before I purchased it. I miss the days of smaller drones that were heavier and flew better in the wind. I loved the features this drone had, from the lights underneath to the charger that would charge all the batteries at the same time! Ahh the memories!
Mavic Air version 1 was an incredible technology. The camera was outstanding and I like that one option "Tap to fly". I think it was called that. You just send it out in a direction and then you could just operate the gimbal and the yaw filming everything below without worrying about the direction. No matter how you turned the drone it kept flying to that point that you tapped.
any affordable drones now with lights or even torches underneath?
@@mandofan2616 you can buy drones like that. And you can buy attachments for drones like fishing rigs that you fly a mile from the beach and drop the bait in the deep water. They make all kinds of lights for drones. Or you can build your own drone and put whatever you want on it.
@@mandofan2616 Torches? What you want a flamethrower?
@@flywrightdrones well I remember some being reviewed having lights underneath
Bought this when I was in GRADE 7 in 2018. After 5 years of flying, it finally gave out, malfunctioning and dumping itself into the Atlantic ocean in spectacular fashion. That drone was an absolute beast, and deserves more love than it gets. It is still one of the most agile non fpv dji drones out there, easily the cleanest looking, and for its time, was peak budget photography. (Just upgraded to a mini 4 pro, thank you spark for getting me into this community :))
I recently got my spark out to sell it, I gave it a flight test and now can't part with it 😍
I love the idea of revisiting part drones to see how they hold up. The Spark was my go-to drone for the panorama shots! Got some great skyscapes from it!
I have my Spark since 2018 and fly at least once a month . It was my first serious drone .
Like you said Steve. Still a great little drone, when it comes to video quality, compared to budget drones of today. Brings back lots of fond memories.
I still use the Spark and actually love that the arms don’t fold. Less to setup when you want to get up and fly quick. The quick release props are something that isn’t on the mini series why not I’ll never know. I do reach for the spark sometimes when I travel due to its size, ruggedness, and reliability. I own a ton of drones but the spark will always be one of my favorites.
The mini series has no quick release props because of weight reasons. To get a drone under 250 grams you need to get rid of everything that is not 100% necessary. I think thats also the reason why the mini 3 pro has no landing legs on the front arms unlike the mini 3 wich has them, because of not having the weight of the obstacle sensors…
I absolutely love the revisiting of the spark. I have a friend with a spark and they will absolutely freak out when I show them the gesture mode.
Thanks for sharing.
I was flying mine around inside my apartment yesterday after it had sat around for 4-5 years. Great little drone.
This was so much fun with the revisit of the spark. Love the idea of revisiting old school drones too. I have been flying since 2015 and I still fly my DJI Spark on occasions of feeling nostalgic lol. Thank you 😀
Sending the link to my son. He still has the Spark I gave him when I moved on to Mavics. It is still a pretty nice camera in the sky.
I did enjoy reminiscing about spark.
You motivated me to get mine out, I will fly her tomorrow. I had forgotten
how heavy-duty spark is, the arms are so thick and strong., they would never break in a crash.
Thanks Captain, good , and fun video.
I still have mine, and I have not flown it in one year and I always love that little drone
Hi Steve.👋👍😀💯.. a classic revisit of a great little drone.
Wow so much snow ❄️❄️🌫️ up there. I haven't seen that much snow ❄️ here since I was a kid.
Thank you so very much for bringing back a classic drone. Hope to see more soon.
God bless you and your family always 🙏. Have a great week
I love the revisiting series!!!!!!
Cool I remember that was an awesome drone back then thanks for sharing 👍
My first „real“ Drone. Epic Steve ❤
Great review! To the point and thorough. I still use mine fairly often; and it still works like it's brand new.
My Spark still gets put into my trail pack when I go out running in the mountains. With a bit of forward planning and a light touch on the sticks this little dinosaur is still capable of getting some great shots.
My first drone was the DJI Spark back in 2018! I think it is quite a success as it brought a lot of people into the hobby. Even though the range is not great, it isn't foldable, and the flight time is short, it forced us to fly very efficiently and was a lot of fun, paving the way for a future upgrade (Which I did (Mavic 2 Zoom)) - it is so light and easy to set up that I brought it to a lot more places than my M2Z
Interesting! And oh yes please, more.
I have fond memories of my Spark.
Advertisment quote from the brewery's of Saint Polly Girl Beer, ..." You never forget your first one."
The Spark was my first time and enjoyed it.. multiple times. 😊
That was fun! Let see some more.😊
I have a platinum, air 2s, and air 3. Spark was my first :) I still have them all.
Just back from a visit to Iceland and used my little Spark, still going strong. Definitely glad I got it, captured a lot of happy memories with it👍
Great idea. Maybe some hidden features too. Have a great day CD
Saw one in an online auction. Bought a controller. Introducing myself to drones for $220, everything seems to work, gonna try and fly it soon when not so busy at work.
I still fly my spark on occasion, and love it. Thanks.
Love that revisit...
Lovely drone revisiting
Brings back the memory
This video drew me back into your channel. I like this
I still have mine and still love it, still get it out now and then. Great idea doing the revisit videos.
Great series - The Mavic Air for me was a huge revelation - 4k 30fps or HD at 120fps, fly round obstacle avoid, fast, 3 axis and folding - Holds its own even today.
I sold my Spark and Mavic Air in January. Oh I miss them so.
@@DurtyB98 And still one of the best looking drones, in artic white!
@@dannytownsy8455 mine was white. But I wrapped it with a wrap from Decal Girl.
Love this video, spark has always been my dream drone, still saving for one. Thanks for doing a video on spark in 2023!
thank you! thank you! thank you! this is a great idea of a revisited video.
Still have m spark… it’ll be the one and only DJI drone I’ll own, still flies, still great
Love this video 🤩
thanks a lot for this amazing Video about my beloved Drone DJI Spark, totally agree with you, I still have it and it is still working really good and I do not want to buy any other Drone
I love the spark . I bought it in 2018. I still fly it in 2023. I can't keep up with all technology coming out with something new every year 😅😅❤
This is great. I just flew my Spark after it has been sitting in my closet for 3 years. It flew perfectly!
Like a lot of people here I still have my Spark and fly it every now and then. I really like the quality of the still jpegs, they are clean and have a lot of color in them. I have an add on set of prop guards for inside flying also. Something a lot of modern drones don’t have!
Great video, must say I have kept mine and still love flying it , I have other drones but still always impressed with its build and flight characteristics, and that camera is still good.
I still have mine. I got it out the other day to take some photos of my friends house under construction. I was having the same issue with Bluetooth warnings and constantly disconnects. I put my Apple Watch and iPhone into aeroplane mode with only the wifi on my phone turned on and then set the Spark to 2.4ghz manually in the app and that improved things a lot. It’s still a pretty laggy video feed which makes it hard to take smooth footage but just as a toy it’s still pretty awesome. If I sold it it would probably only be worth like $200 NZD so I may as well just keep it. Thinking about buying the Mini 4 Pro but I’m having a hard time justifying it. It’s on sale right now.
oh yeah i love it so much
The spark was my first drone. I was so intrigued about getting pictures and video from a higher perspective. I knew nothing about flying drones and learned everything from you tube which included your channel. Now have the Mavic Air 2 and still loving it!
Amazing drone dji spark my favorit drone
I love this revisit and would love more videos 📹 like this. 😍
Excellent Historical Review Video On The Spark. Thank You.
I loved this video. It prompted me to drag out the old sparky. Thanks
Yes please, The EGG. I once hoped to win one, remember that?.
I absolutely love this quad ....and thank you so much for another great video ...Makes me wish I had this Quad as I fly mostly FPV and this would be an amazing quad to take air shots and follow vids
I use the OTG cable between the phone and controller. Then put my phone on airplane mode, that way you have a direct connection with no need for wifi and no interference. Can you do a revisit of the phantom series please.
I got the red Spark three years ago and still use it!! Love the little guy! A long with 5 batteries. Definitely gotten my money’s worth out of it. As I’ve flown it hundreds of times now! And it’s still running strong. I’d love to get a newer version this year. One with longer running time with the battery and all. But I’ll always keep the little Spark as my goto. It’s been a blast, and I’ve gotten amazing pics and videos at 400 feet!! Love this hobby!
I pulled mine out last night to see if it still worked. For some reason the app won't load up. I saw all of the reviews from people having the same issue. My question to you is what app are you using to fly your Spark?
I used mine at the weekend and use the DJI go 4 app. It pops up with an available update when the drone connects but I’ve not bothered with it as I don’t want to run the risk of it not working
Still have my lava red spark. Love it.
Kinda neat to see the old stuff working and reliving memories. Keep the series alive.
Thanks Cap, for the trip back. I loved that little tank of a drone and often miss the little bug.
Yes! Love this kind of videos do more, please revisit the Parrot Anafi!
my spark was what got me into DJI. i still have mine! this has me fired up to fly it again now in 2023!
I still fly this drone love it in the wind
Stull rocking the spark, use it on my mtb, fits in my jacket pocket, can have it up in the air following me without getting off the bike, just phone connect, travel light!
i still use my spark weekly. i love this little thing
I still fly mine, Love it. 🎉
I ❤️my Spark!
A wonderful revisiting of the spark ! Thanks. This drone was my first step into drone-hobby, I remember ;-) I bought it second hand and used it some month until I wanted more video-quality and made the step to other drones. But I like the innovating spark yet and it was a pleasure to see it in your revisit 👏👏👍
great to see this review, so fun. Spark was my very first qwad, now I have dozens. I great way to start!
Very cool
Man o man you are definately a proffessional you tuber keep up the good work👍
brilliant review captain.
That was cool it reminds you how fast time is passing us by its cool to see some evolution too looking forward revisiting some pass and forgotten products till next time 👍
Awesome revisit, I still have the Air 1. It is still a beast of a drone. 🤗🤗🤗
I like the set up enjoy the week
Excellent quality and content 👌 thanks
I still have this drone and still fly it. It’s really fun to fly!
Hi, still using mine DJI Spark, very happy about its performance😎😃 thanks for your videos👍
Got mine as a gift in 2018. I don't use it often but when I do it anyways performs without hiccups.
great video, i really need to see if my Mavic Air (1) still works!
Nice! I regret not getting one when I had the chance. It seems to fly very smoothly.
Another great video from captian drone. That drone seems nice only thing its really loud.
Thanks for making such an awesome video..
you're most welcome
Waoooo outstanding video, this is crazy, just yesterday took a refrescher course on how to operate my DJI spark, I have forgotten everything about it, and just like you I got this one when it came out, that probably explain why your video pop up in my youtube page feed.
Please do more videos on your older drones, this video was great thank you
Very nice and informative video.
I just got a used Spark and í´m absolutly in love
Really good footage
I had the park too. As my first drone. My case was the Casey by GoPro with a little modification I got the remote sticks on, drone and 2 extra batteries. Was perfect case and size for my backpack. I never got much more than 8-10 minutes as I would land at 30-35% which is why I moved from spark. It was amazing and as much as the gestures were gimiky I used it a lot and it worked really well. I always wanted the case charger so smart. Love the old tech reviews.
So interesting watching a Spark video now. The Spark was my first drone so I have a lot of fond memories of it. I forgot how loud it was though. 🤣
I actually looked them up on ebay and there very cheap now so good cheap drone for a beginner. Great video would love to see more revisiting 😆👌👍🇬🇧
Great review👌 Bought mine month ago
Those arms could crack with one crash. Very stable, highly visible lighting. Good solid design. I enjoyed flying the Spark more than the Mavic Air which came later.
i remember going to hawaii for vacation brought my spark flew it at 20+mph, spark did not disappoint although i could see it struggling to fight the wind but you can also tell how reliable it is when needed....i still have mines probably wont get rid of it just yet
Spark was the first DJI mavic drone i bought after the phantom then went onto the MP1 and the rest is history, With all the things it had on it was brillint.
My Spark is still running strong💪
I just bought one on ebay. I have the Mavic Mini, Phantom 3 pro, Phantom 4 and a Inspire 1v2 RAW and Inspire 1v2 Pro. So this old drone will be a nice addition.
Good retro review Steve.
