My problem is, as a night driver, there's never food, the bathrooms arent kept up at night, and there's never any coffee at night
Buy an inverter so you can plug a coffeepot,crockpot,refrigerator and/or microwave in.
Most of what needs to change at truck stops are the "drivers". Many or most have zero respect for themselves or others. There is only so much the truck stops can do, they can even be the best in the world, but nasty, disrespectful, idiots will ruin it.
And panhandlers. I do what I need to do and close my curtains before I get trapped listening to a 20 minute sob story of why someone needs money

@@stevenr6797 at a petro off i40 in AZ, a guy was telling me his car broke down on the off ramp and was needing money for a tow truck. I asked him which off ramp his car was on and he refused to answer until I told him which direction I was traveling. I called him out and he started getting loud and swinging. Funny thing is every time I stepped forward, he'd step back but before anything happened 3 other drivers stepped in and he walked away

Never step in a puddle at a truck stop EVER
That’s another reason I stay away from big truck stops apart from the over priced fuel, I like the mom and pop truck stops, cheap fuel, good food and nice quiet restful sleep

Cheaper food too. & im about midway in 240 otr training and my trainer doesn't allow eating in truck or me really to store food in truck so I'm forced to come outta pocket almost daily..

The mom and pop shops are usually never kept clean. Bathroom disgusting, coffee dispenser dirty and old food on display. No thanks
What I hate most is there's never enough parking. Especially at Pilots. If you're not there by 6pm, forget it. You won't find anywhere to park.
There’s a Pilot north of Cincinnati on 75 that I swear the lot was set up for 40 ft. trailers! Never again…

Good way to get your airlines cut, then you'll really be sitting there.
Taking a 30-minute break at a fuel island even if you pull forward is a bad idea. Then again when you're out of hours on your 8 you're out of hours. At least have the courtesy to split it into 15 minutes fueling and 15 minutes in front of the pump.
How about doing your 34hr restart at the fuel island!!😆

I'm not a trucker, but when I have to stop at a truck stop, I always try to stay out of the way, am quick about fueling, park my car out of the way and I understand you all are trying to work, so I always ask where is the best place for me to sit out of the way of the truckers. You all have a hard job. I respect you for what you do.

@@samiam619 Some truck stops have areas for cars that are either small or obscure. Some people park in places that are right in the way. Often because they are just "going in real quick to...." Just be considerate, as it sounds like you are, and it's all good.
@@julieutley2073 I’m retired from driving. So if I go to a T/S it’s for coffee on my yearly trip to Virginia. When I was driving, if I was Bob-tailing, I would park either in the 4 wheeler p/lot or one of those areas that a semi couldn’t fit in. Still don’t understand why you, well, all truck stops have parking for cars. Are you in a pick up pulling a trailer?

Not enough spots to park. Not good healthy food to eat at all. Truckers pee everywhere xd.

I don't know what era you have grown up in but NEVER seen anyone help anyone ONLY if they knew each other or un the same company but many if not most people are racing the clock.. like one is really supposed to be doing

I park absolutely anywhere but truck stops. This is so accurate. I’ll stop at them for Fuel. Showers and laundry if I can’t find a mat in town

I love the fights. Grab the popcorn and sit in the front to watch. No need to go to a MMA fight when you got 2 three hundred pounders about to duke it out on the piss smelled pavement of a truck stop.

Honestly you want to protect these women. Make it legal so they can work in a safe environment and be protected by law as a legitimate business.
Unfortunately, those lot lizards might make you pay a little more in the backend then just a simple upfront dollar amount.

My biggest problem with truckstops is the lack of parking and all the dropped trailers and box trucks that have been obviously parked for days. 🙄
Restaurants and meeting halls have a capacity stated for safety purposes. An entrance and exit gate so no can enter until someone leaves. High speed pumps that require your presence to operate. If you are going to overnight, you pay to park. That said, you provide a lot that easily accessed. As far as the inconsiderate block you in, they are charged an intolerance fee at the gate. You would need a huge impound lot, a wrecker, an interpreter and trained mercenaries to handle the chaos. Once it gets around and established what is tolerated, it would either be a nice orderly place to stop or empty. Some people thrive on conflict. That would hopefully cut down on all the madness. But it will never happen.

i think you covered it All the one that burns my biscuits is Drivers not being respectful not pulling up Blocking the Fuel ⛽️ island it makes me want to call a tow truck come drag there truck out my way. what piss me off the worse is when i been waiting & they Driver comes out with there shower bag or food they are to dam lazy to go park.
I have been driving for 26 years, never seen or heard of the things you say. Must be the places you stop at.
People who park in spots that are not actual parking spots making it harder for a truck to leave, or even coming in. I cant stand it. I understand the scarcity of parking but dam man dont block me in my spot

I’m grateful you guys and gals are truck drivers! My first job at 17 was a biller at my daddy’s truck line. I had to be there at 5:00am to type the bills so the drivers could load their trucks! Those were the good ole days! KEEP ON TRUCKIN 💯

@@imafirinmahlazahr Rarely have I seen anyone blocked in. However, frequently I hear drivers complaining (exhibit A) because they actually need some skill to navigate a truck stop.
Fuel thieves have tried to steal my fuel on 3 occasions at TAs🙄

I only stop at truck stops if I need a fuel or shower. Otherwise I park at rest areas or shippers if its allowed. Truck stops are shit holes mostly, avoid them if you can.
The worst part of all truck stops… the truck stop paparazzi always looking for stuff to submit to bonehead truckers.

The worst are the Idiots who drive through the Truck Stops thinking They're out on the Interstate .. going too fast. A few have rolled Their Trucks .. & They should have Their CDLs stripped from Them.
My favorite all time line:" My wife and I were traveling from X to y and ran out of gas, do you have a few dollars?"

More damage done to trucks in truck stops than on the highway. Every time I've had damage done to my rig it's been at a truckstop. Especially if you're parked at the end of the row.
So called supply chain shortages have allowed mega carriers to use “trainers” who themselves have very little experience and none teaching someone what little they know, hiring people who can’t even read signs because they don’t speak English. Trainers don’t teach fuel island etiquette, because they don’t know. Result: UNPROFESSIONAL drivers who were GIVEN the profession without have to work to get here, so no appreciation, no professional pride, thus fights, no skills thus accidents, profit over service in truck stops, taking advantage of the inability to park most places. Hiring staff that do not do their jobs due to poor supervision due to salary offered for profit maximization. Small lots, poorly maintained for the same reason. 4 wheelers not being taught how to behave around 80,000 lbs of truck at 70 MPH. The number of them causing a competition for position and perceived advantage. Campers operated by novice operators. These things are not addressed because too much money is involved, and not nearly enough concern for any of the people out here, especially Truck drivers…

It doesn't take much to be in shape driving truck I'm older than him and my arm,s are twice the size of his. When you're in them truck stop,s waiting for log reset,s fueling etc! I go for a 5 mile jog do 100 push ups go on my flatbed and exercise do 200 situps 150 push ups. Pick up a Lot Lizard or 2 unleash some pressure down her throat. You'll feel like a new man. 👍🏻🤠

It’s called heavy free weight training and heavy calisthenics training. Bench press, overhead press, weighted Pull ups, weighted muscle ups, etc.
When u are driving for a living it's not to physically taxing, I'm not full time OTR so my job farming keeps me in shape, if count calorie intake vs how much u sweat that day is a HUGE factor. If you haven't moved or broke a sweat all day, u don't need a double bacon cheeseburger from a fast food joint. Just eat snacks and 1 decent meal a day.... if your just driving. Metabolism.
During the summer truck stops can stink of urine.

problem with truck stops is they've become corporate, back in the day you had plenty of mom/pops truck stops so truckers had options/space/choices
I get my fuel and shower and leave. If you been on the road for a while you learn where the hot spots are to park . Read your map lots of cool spots out there just have to pay attention where you are
It's those day timers// sleepy boys messing everything up. The sun starts to go down and they get heavy eyed. If everyone was more evenly dispersed between driving during the day and night, there would be much less of a struggle for fuel during the day and for a parking spot at night. Of course day timers can cry about miles but waste their clock at the pumps and shutting down early to get a spot if they want, I like only having to share the highway with a small handful of vehicles at night anyway

Alot of the younger men have there own home gym with them they either exercise right infront of their truck or take up an entire parking space next to their truck with weights weight benches exercise mats

The loves right out side of Lakeland on I-4 by the airplane museum has plenty in the middle of the night
Some of the older truck stops that were built in the 50s the trucks are away from each other only the distance of a 48 foot trailer so when you try to back a 53 ft into a spot is really tight
Yeah, you forgot complainers. One driver complained about me eating pork chops with a knife and fork.
That makes the little things much more enjoyable such as getting to use the handicapped bathroom stall.
Sound about right.. But should be expected.. Much as u dont want to. At least 1 time a day.. Your gonna run into one of these examples

Why have truck stops become so anxiety enducing? It’s suppose to be a place where you can rest and reset your schedule, yet it starts with ‘will I be able to find a place to park’ and from there it becomes a battle of sleep deprivation caused by the never ending noise coming from refer units, tri-pacs and engines and the occasional horn blast from the fuel island. If you arrive too late, no parking and no hot meals.😢

Everything you mentioned is not the truck stops fault. Truck stops don't need to be fixed truck drivers do. They have no common sense and no courtesy. For more than 35 years I drove one. I did not agree with the terminology Truck Driver. I drove truck for a living.

As a flying J worker. Atlease in the maintenance side we try our best to keep everything clean. It’s the drivers that absolutely abuse and treat everything like pure shit. Not all drivers do. But do.
Lack of parking. Always fast food no time to sit and eat a meal....like the old days(90's) bumper ripping potholes, crappy service, waiting for cashiers to show up, slow service, pay to park( should not pay to comply with HOS), NOT ENOUGH PLACES TO PARK, etc. Etc.

I've blocked people in; but I never leave my truck once I've blocked someone in and I've only done it when I'm doing the crawl of shame(out of hours, 5mph or less) into the the truck stop. Every time I've blocked someone in and they knock on my window, I'm out of the way within a minute or two. Shit happens, but you can still be considerate to other drivers, when it does happen. Still can't believe how many people don't pull up after fueling. Also, put your trash in trash cans!!!!!!
About half of what you listed have nothing to do with the Truckstop but with your fellow drivers.
I'm lucky enough to run rural and local, but I would never, never park one of my truck overnight at a mega truck stop. I like alot of the smaller "mom and pops" shops. Heck I just got my hopper backed into by CRST when I just parked for 20 mins at a petro. I know it's not possible for a lot of you guys. But I think just go another exit or stop short ab exit from the huge truck stops. 90% of time there is a mom pop shop or a less busy place to park. I dunno how u all park it nightly at the bug TA's Petro's etc.

Thought the showers were fine. 5 bucks for a shower. Me and my girl used those showers and they even let us use it together. Didnt charge extra

Trash left at parking spots, pee bottles, poo bags on the ground, $3 for a cup of bad coffee, $2 for a cheese stick, $7,8,9 for a salad!, I can’t comment on idling trucks and reefers- I used to hate them, but maybe they don’t have bunk heaters, and they also have to park somewhere.

That's why I do hotshot trucking. I can park just about anywhere. Planet fitness is the best because they have showers and there's always restaurants right nearby... Lots of out of business stores to park at...been doing it for years. I sleep next to NOBODY!

@@puertoricanpapi2011 ram 3500 dually, 40 foot flatbed trailer with air ride. We work off of the exact same infrastructure as the big trucks. Same laws, same rules, same EVERYTHING. it's just smaller capacity rigs. Simple as that.
Just the other day I payed 306 for fuel 19.25 for parking an 13 for shower an just for a value meal large was 18 bucks just to sleep for 10 hrs
I've always ran into great people (drivers). the lazy trash dumpsters are jurks, I think we need to start covering each other's 6 again. so many cammers to cowardly to step up.
