My husky was in my family from puppyhood until the age of 13yrs old and they are very active, social dogs requiring a great deal of activity. Hiked daily with him for 2hrs and he would recharge after an hour of napping. Don't like fur everywhere, don't get one. Couch potato , indoor life style don't get one. They are so so intelligent but can be mischievous as well, good escape artists. I pray they find good homes. Adoption is so rewarding for both the animals and us ❤
I just rescued a husky and he’s happy with only a 30-45 minute walk once a day. They only shed really bad a couple times a year and don’t smell or need regular baths, but a good brush once a week. They have double coats which can protect them from heat and cold, so can actually live anywhere. He’s super smart and needs a leash even to go in the garden, as they are known to be escape artists, but I don’t mind keeping him close. He’s a keeper!
This is so sad. I did so much research before I decided to adopt my husky boy. I have had him for 12 years, he’s a sweet chill old man now but in his early years we hiked 8-9miles every other day, walked/ran 3-4 miles everyday, hours of training everyday and just made sure he had the mental stimulation needed every day to thrive into the sweet boy he is now. Every person who meets him falls in love and notes how “good for a husky” he is. I wish other people put in the work for these sweet souls because they are amazing dogs and companions. Please no matter the breed do extensive research and be realistic with your life style and the lifestyle the dog needs to thrive. If I had the land I would go to the shelter right now and adopt at least half of the huskies in the shelters. Fingers crossed the lottery win comes my way.
I think you might be putting people off huskies, because all of that isn’t really necessary and no normal person walks or runs that much! I’ve had both a husky/ malamute and just adopted a husky and both were/are happy with a regular walk a day. Especially when you rescue them from a literal prison, they are so grateful to be in a home and are such good companions with some basic training.
This video makes me cry for huskies trapped in shelters. God bless the shelter staff for caring for the huskies. Maybe someone can start a husky rescue or a husky animal reserve.
1:47 Can we please put this message on repeat everyday for the next two decades so it finally sinks in? Maybe summarize it in bite size pieces? Why can't people understand how important this is?
That just shows how irresponsible our community is. These are our neighbors that are doing this, the people that live amongst us in our community are basically abandoning their responsibilities.
huskies have got to be one of the most high maintenance dogs and I feel like some ppl don't take that into account. I've seen so many ppl and families get husky puppies just in my neighborhood
People really do need to their research before getting a husky. I have two and luckily am able to provide a lot of time and exercise for them on top of my daily schedules. Helps to have a big yard too.
It should be a legal request for every movie with animals especially pets to explain all the costs and care required in real life to maintain these pets. It's not like the movie fantasy. People should see the real life work to maintain pets.
You can thank Game of Thrones and social media for the husky craze. Same thing happened with chihuahuas and they're now just recovering from the "que quiero taco bell" debacle. I wish people put more thought into adoptions. Same with farting out babies 😞
Huskies are a working breed and they should ship them up to Alaska where they can live happily. Nothing worse for a working breed than being a “family pet”. Very sad.
They are not city dogs, or at least they shouldn't be. Huskies need to be able to run, alot. They NEED to run and work or they will be unhappy, restless, obnoxious and sometimes destructive and ill tempered. I know, i know, some huskies do just fine in the city....some.
Sad that people think dogs are disposable. Huskies shouldn’t even be in SoCal. It’s too warm for them. SMH.

Lazy people wanting active dogs then quitting on them.sad
They're just mindless twits that follow any craze

It's a commitment to own a dog/s especially Huskies. I hope these Huskes find good family. My heart aches,
I tell people animals are more than photo opps they are a big responsibility 💯💯💯

Didn’t know people adopted dogs based on a show…

Don't listen to these people 😅😅😅
Sounds like you need a big yard and you should adopt two together.
Why don’t people research the breed and care of the animal that they are interested in adopting before they adopt?
That is really sad
The climate here is too hot for Huskies.
They are the worse dogs to try and keep in a yard unless it’s fully reinforced top and bottom
Huskeys also shed like crazy. I couldn’t handle the fur too
At least you know your limitations sone people are not as cognizant about themselves 😅
Send me one I'm in North Dakota
May all these dogs find good homes in Jesus’ name. ✝️🙏

Send them to Alaska. Sled dogs, ❤
People do not deserve dogs .
Don't let Kristi Noem near them!
It’s so cruel to have one in San Diego - they are happy sitting in snow, not sweating in desert temperatures
I have never seen game of thorns tv show ? 💩🦮
