Lol man your laugh is hella comforting 😂
Wow, so many people on forums often quote "YOU are the biggest source of contaminants" and here you are working shirtless 👏👏
It's true. But it's from hair, clothes and the filth most people are covered in. Look at people's fingernails and you can get an idea of how dirty they are ;) Lab coats that haven't been washed for months are hanging on a dirty coat rack are the worst thing you could possibly wear in the lab. Not to mention fire hazards when working with alcohol. I guarantee, my naked body is cleaner than any clothes I could wear. Think about it for a minute. All that shit they tell you online is parroted dogma from years of people trying to sell shit like lab coats.
I like your style
I just realized how funny it looks after I uploaded. LOL That's my normal dress when I'm working. Y'all are lucky I put pants on 😀
@@edwardgrand don't show em boobs for free ;)
Working with the shirt off 🤣 . I live in Queensland Australia so I get it , Easy growing all year round, no heaters🤣 I get a bit nervous when it starts getting over 33 C though😂 I saw you on mycoGeeky and you're a character . I'm trying erthritol( Artificial sweetener) at the moment in my sub see how it turns out. Might just grow a box of mould. Keep it up my man you have a lot of cool knowledge, thanks for passing it on. By the way pink is definitely your colour😉
At least I had shorts on. Normally, I'm doing it in my underwear. 😆 The heat is bearable now, but in two months, I'll be naked again!
@@edwardgrand The naked mycologist 🤣 could be on to something there mate👍
Give 66Prozent (2/3) From cococoir a Tea From Chaga and Shiitake with a Ricetea!(Changa and Shiitake is antibakteriell and kill Kontaminations...)Love this! The 33Prozent give normal and alone and See What make the Fungi.. (12Gramm Syrian rue in the Tea make potency
I did the Syrian Rue thing before. Just hurt my stomach :(
look like some odd villian in first season of true detective man
I know your probably just being super safe cause I have always pretty much done the same. But the spawn is pretty much invincible to contamination if it was fully colonized correctly right?
Yes. Maybe not invincible, but highly resistant to contamination. I just thought it would be funny to were pink gloves with no shirt :)
TBH, I don't like getting dirt/coir under my nails and it all kind of smells if you're making 8 shoeboxes like I was that day. I was also gonna do some sterile culture work after that, so I like to keep my hands relatively clean.
😂 I love how you talk about what's in your trash can get you caught as you are literally filming a video of your activities and then broadcasting it over the internet. Stay safe for real man!
Cross colonization can occur when you mix the rice and reac back jnto the substrate, that would be cool if your bucket started to turn white
Never had that problem. I use a pot of substrate within a day or two :) If longer, I add more water and reboil it.
Great videos! How often do you fan/spray your shoe boxes per 24-hour cycle?
Maybe 3 times? Depends on room temperature, how much I've been running air conditioning and how much substrate is in each tent. I try to spray each shoebox individually if possible. Sometimes I just blast them all if I'm in a hurry. Sometimes I don't spray at all. Depends on shoebox and cultigen. Albinos nd PE don't like misting so much.
@@edwardgrand Thank you Edward!!!
Thanks so much! Amazing vid. So this goes on the shelf 10-14 days... do you then put a casing on it? Or is that not necessary. I saw you put a light sprinkle on the top, pseudo-casing right?
Thanks. With the pseudo-casing, I'd give it a few extra days to pop through. Depends a lot on environmental conditions and genetics. As long as the spawn is good, it'll be fine.
Haters gonna hate...
Lovers gonna love...
If you have a garden bro, dig a hole and put all your used substrate in it, keep adding to it and after a good rain you might get lucky with more 🍄. Plus its more convenient and less risky than putting in your garbage.
I am doing it at a friend's house now. Unfortunately, I live in the concrete jungle. No dirt in sight. :(
@@edwardgrand i get you bro, yea its not easy... Stick your bags in a street community bin or a neighbours up the street on the day of collection 😁👍😉😂 mush love
@@Hawkeye_360 That is what I do. Occasionally, I see the neighbors fighting cocks picking the grain out. LOL
@@edwardgrand 😂😎
Sweeet! 🤙
I noticed the only thing that you didn't spray was the bag surfaces that you put in your shoe box. Did you miss those or was it for a reason?
They come straight from the manufacturer, so they are virtually sterile out of the original packaging.
Stay classy ed😁
Oh man, I love some Thai Food!!!
You can eat it every day here 😉
@@edwardgrand Sweet 👍
Seksi maaaan! 😂❤😂
I'm waiting on the girls in the community to post s2b videos topless but until then, we'll get what we can. 😂
Where do you find PP5 ziplocks like that? I’ve been after some for ages as I hate PCing and storing jars
You said you boil your coco coir in a pot to pasteurize it? How long and what temp do you go for? And is the coco coir above the water getting steamed or is it submerged in the water ?
It's kind of half boiled, half steamed. About 30 minutes. Depends on load. Keep the lid on and mix it after its cooled.
Sir, is it possible to pasturize substrate in a vertical autoclave, if yes at what psi should I be doing....
Yes. Any kind of autoclave/pressure cooker will do. The time and pressure depend on a lot of variables. I do my cooked paddy rice and popcorn for 3 hours at 12 psi.
May I ask what mushroom this medium is for?
Any coir-loving mushroom.
Do you ever use gypsum?
Used to but don't think it's necessary.
Temperature for colonization and fruiting?
27 Celsius
Could you use peat moss?
Yes. Slightly different recipe.
Points out you out them in alphabetical order just to fill up the one on the right (2nd one) first I feel like you did that just to trigger my ocd
Video might be flipped :)
@@edwardgrand Ahhhhh nice I can now sleep tonight ❤️
Hi I got a question for you. I've been watching your videos and I saw the geeky podcast. And I saw that you mentioned you had a culture that doesn't fruit. I think I might have the same sort of thing I have a pe7 culture that super risomorphic looks great on agar and grain but once I put it to substrate in a monotub it starts to grow and then it looks like it dies back and it's super slow but it's amazing before it had substrate could you tell me if my problem? I just got a microscope the other day so I could try to figure something out if you guide me. Or I just throw the culture away and stop trying that one and use this other pe7 swap set I have and see if that works from a different vendor
My problem was the culture was a monokaryon. I went back to spores and isolated a new culture. I have two other cultures that are confirmed dikaryons, but they won't fruit under my conditions. Sometimes they just do that. If you have spores, just try again :)
Okay yeah I'm just going to try the other four swabs from a different vendor. I guess the whole jar of liquid culture is no good or do you think I would be able to find a better culture out of the liquid the liquids from early transfers
@@shawnlinehan4005 You mentioned it looked great on agar. Where does the LC come it?
I got excited and I think I made the liquid culture with the first culture from Spore. Anyways I got three more grain bags that are ready to go I'm going to try three more tubs if it doesn't work I'm going to get rid of it and in the meantime I'm going to start the new swabs and transfer at least six times before I do anything with it
I have a decent microscope now how do I find if it's a dicurion or monocarium do you have a good video on that or should I Google it and read on it
