I love this guy! From how you understand our color doesn't make us all africans (I am black, and an American, not African), and putting that same accurate, detail orientated effort that you use in all your videos (Doug could learn so much from you 😜 & I wish he would), to donating to help the many intelligent black people get the chances they often don't get (despite the "affirmative action" inaccuracies that have pulled the wool over the masses of blind eyes, attached to unyielding minds, just as wild fire would blanket Yellowstone with smoke). Thank you for working with human's to make the world become a better place for humans. This video absolutely warms my heart. Whenever your videos come up, I honestly get excited to watch it, and I've watched them all multiple times. Even if I know the story, often I still learn something, and each videos accuracy, coupled with the amount of detail you include, all in such a precise manner, keeps me viewing with joy. I thank you for making this video. Thank you for making all of the videos you make.
Thanks for those wonderful words. It's the least I could do.
I like they way you put things it helps us better understand a vexatious issue🙂
Im black and this video is showing that black people can make a contribution
Indigenous so called Blacks are in small numbers now thanks to Caucasians and they also sold Bantu nation aka ADOS or Black Americans.

💯💯💯✊🏿✊🏿
fascinating thank you for sharing this tale of automotive history ....and not letting this African American success story fade into the recesses of time....keep digging into and sharing your stories
That Term African American is more PAPER GENOCIDE!! Over 5 different names within 50 plus year.. IN FACTS they are INDIGENOUS to the AmericaS!!
I digitize auto logos as a hobby, and have never been able to find an official logo or hood ornament for this company.
During your research for this video, did you have any luck finding one?
Sorry, I didn't. But would it be possible to get access to some of your digitized car logos? I have trouble finding good quality historical ones (e.g. Vauxhall from the 1910s). If you can let me use them, could you e-mail me at bigcartv@hotmail.com?
@@BigCar2 perhaps I can help. I love your work!
And I thought i knew soooooo much about car and automotive history, nice one.
Yeah, well, you don't.
And you are not neglecting quality. Great initiative!
Thank you Big Car for bringing this story to light! I can't believe I've never heard of this history before. A remarkable and rare achievement in the automotive industry for a black family of the time and since! ✊
Mr Big Car just educated us about motoring history and current social issues he's giving $2,000 to if we do the same. Great guy, great channel.
This is a tax deduction tactic, nothing more
Thoroughly interesting! I had no idea that company existed, and it's great to find out about these smaller companies from the beginning of the history of the automobile. Great video!
Brilliant! Love your work and using to make a difference rather than a protest is just first class.
Mark, I loved everything about this video,, very well done!
I'm very proud as a black woman for Mr.Patterson achievement God bless the family.
That is a really nice contribution to your high quality videos. Great work, sir!
Glad you liked it!
Why had I never heard of this car before? Thank you, every day is a school day as they say
I'd never heard of it as well. This whole channel is me learning about things I didn't know.
I herd it about
In New Orleans we had African American History as a class in high school
This is why they don’t want CRT in school!!!
Bravo Andy! And I love your channel and the link you’ve added. Encouraging youth into engineering is always the right direction, especially for those whose paths have been less illuminated.
Very cool. Very cool indeed. Much respect.
Just donated to this great cause. Thanks for encouraging, and for another great story
Thanks Cees!
Excellent. It's interesting that there are 50 thumbs down out of 600 whereas the VW Phaeton video has only 68 out of 3800.
Always surprises me how many narrow minded bigots still exist in 2020. Personally I thought this was an excellent video.
thumbs down? Thanks for reminding me

Excellent post! Thank you.
Informative, well researched, and enlightening, as usual. And you, sir, stood up to be counted with such quiet elegance and empathy
❤
Fun fact there's a Ghanian car brand called Kantanka
That's the noise they make when they break down.
Great video Andy and interesting story about taking up the reigns and adapting to changing times - inspiring stuff ...
Thanks Jo. Yes, I learnt one or two things in the process as well.
Excellent topic, well documented. Thanks for sharing👍 Greetings from Spain.
Thanks for sharing this story.
So many details, great story! I would also love a video about the BMW E38
Love your videos 👍 love the quality of information, research and insight to the automobil Industry
Thanks for posting this - very interesting
Thank you very much for the time and effort you spent making this video, sir! A worthy cause, indeed.
And to those who protest, well, very telling.
I did not know this story. Interesting and well presented. Thank you very much.
Thanks for that brand I didn't know about.
I'm sure in preparing this video you knew you'd get some haters or people who miss the wider point or the underlying issues, but I congratulate you on doing it anyway, both as important education and a decent gesture to help rectify an imbalance that has structural origins
Thanks Mike! That's good to hear.
Thank you for posting this.
Great video, and a great cause!
Stories like this is a reason why I’m far more interested in older cars.
Can't thank you enough for this! A fan for life!
wow thank you for this awesome piece of history!
Enjoyed thank you! Great shout on the worthy cause too
Thank you for this informative glimpse of so many different histories... American, black American, automotive, mechanics, technology, engineering, the every-man's. While I enjoy all your videos from Big and Little Car, this one compelled me to share on FB. Keep up the awesome work.
Thanks Darwin!
Thank you for making this video
Thank you interesting story. Love your Lego LEM, brilliant.☺
Thanks! Me too!
Always great to learn something completely new.
Another great video, keep them coming!
I thought I was at least reasonably knowledgeable about black history, but I had no bloody idea about this. Thank you so much for making this video. ♥
That a shame, most people in general when thinking 1915- 1940 cars the first thing that pops up is Henry Ford. Going to do a search on Patterson & Greenfield see if any got to an auction room
Unfortunately none survive.
Thank you for doing this!
Beautifully made video. Thank you
Abslutely facinating story - never heard about this before 👍
What a story ! Thanks for unveiling this. Quite some similarities to nowadays situation btw ..
Did not know this , thx for this one !
Awesome and fascinating piece of history!! Thank you for this!!!
Great video! One of your best!!!!
What a lovely piece.
Great video, I was totally ignorant of this company!
A truly fascinating story, I had never heard before. Sheer determination of individuals in a challenging society. Well done and keep 'em coming!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this video!
You are so welcome!
Superb! As always 👍
WOW thank you for this awesome piece of history!!!
Great interesting video again... never heard of this company before and for a good cause. Inspiring and thoughtful.
Thanks Rob!
Fantastic vid!
Great video and good message :) x
Wow, so well researched. Respect
Love your t,shirt, nice touch 👍
This was a nice story, thanks for sharing! I watched recently (a couple of weeks ago) Secret Life Of Machines - The Car, it was recently remastered and Tim talks about the history of cars and engines there. The endines and old chassis and car bodies you showed here reminded me of that episode. Are you British? Then you probably watched Tim Hunkin's show when you were a kid :)
Thank you for sharing this.
Glad you liked it Toledo!
Great video
I really appreciate you for this story 💪🏿🤘🏿
Great job!
Great motivation, thnks for making the video.
A fine and important video! Good work, Andy! I am proud to be your friend!
Thanks Sven!
Very well done.
A great and very appropriate video. Thank you.
You're very welcome!
thank you .. !
Great presentation, you’re a class act
Good job!
Thanks for this! Great!!!!
Good video explained in easier manner and in detail👍
Sir can u make a video on Mazda Miata?
I have to at one point. It’s just so cool!
Shame that they couldn’t get the bus production to continue 🙁
It was a logical direction to take, but they were still a regional coachbuilder, and unless they became one of the top coachbuilders they would never be able to compete.
Merci beaucoup. Je suis noir, je suis ingénieur automobile, je possède ma chaîne CZcams et je n'avais jamais entendu parler de cette famille. Merci à vous et longue vie à votre chaîne (I know you speak French hope you will read this message)!
Je parle un peu de Francais (I had to Google Translate your reply!). Merci beaucoup pour votre mots!
Interesting cheers
Nice work. Waiting for Audi story, also for Ferrari and Lamborghini story.
Thank you :D
I'd never even heard of it before.
Dank 👏👏👏
Thanks, did not know this. Ford crushed a lot of companies on their way to success.
Their were like 1000’s of car companies or as we call them now “ start ups “ only a couple of the, have survived like Renault , Ford , Vauxhall , Buick and Fiat
Very interesting history-puzzle-piece for petrolheads, above the mainstream knowledge! Chapeau D/A/G
Thank you
Wow, I'm impressed by this video. The gift of a good brain is NOT depending on your skin colour. The last weeks we've seen enough madness race related.
Thank you for taking the time to teach us about this car company and impertinent part of Black history. I’m trying to educate myself on racial issues and become a better human.
Thais was my 3rd great grand father I have one of his car frames the only one on earth I’ll be doing videos of it soon we’re still in Ohio
I'd love to see that. I went to school in Greenfield.
So you should know he used the wrong image of Patterson at 1:33 He confused Frederick D. Patterson with Frederick Douglass Patterson
Nice one. Nice cause too.
As you say it’s what the market demands now. I was disappointed when the new ugly puma was announced. But it seems so right now!
Wonderful idea, combining your own topic with a statement that seems to be necessary these days.
My biggest respect!
Yes! Thank you!
Fair play to you Big man.
A lot of great African Americans figures of the past and the present both male and female have made contributions that have gone and went undocumented, unnoticed and under the radar that people have never ever even heard of or even seen by the public. But I’m going to tell you all who did take notice. G.U.N. “GOD. The UNIVERSE and NATURE. Now let’s see if anybody or anyone else try to go near, out do, touch or even top that one. Sincerely Yours Truly Ivan I J
How about a video on Edsel. It was a separate company. Also, Mclaughlin from my home of Canada.
Maybe in the future. Thanks for the suggestion!
At 1:33 you showed a picture of Frederick D. Patterson, a completely different person than Frederick Douglass Patterson.
🖤
it is weird how youtube has recommended almost every video you have posted to me, except this one...?
It didn't do very well. I don't think people like watching videos about really old cars. Or it could be YT doesn't like recommending videos that aren't monetised.
Top man
got the vid to 876 likes
Interesting that it got to 1939 - if they had run a bit longer WW2 would have kept them going as manufacturers switched to war production.
Could You do the "Lotus" story?
There's a video of the Lotus Esprit you can watch.
