8 New Scams You Should Warn Your Family About

  • How to Protect Yourself from Scam. Scammers get creative and invent new tricks basically every day to steal your money and personal data. The best way to protect yourself, your family and your money is to be aware of their latest tricks. Remember that forewarned is forearmed, and it's always better to be prepared and ready to face the dangers that may wait for you in the street or online.
How to avoid the dream job scam 0:46
You post your CV on a foreign website and wait for a miracle. And you might really receive a call or a letter where a manager tells that your CV is great, you've got this job, and your salary will be even higher than you have expected. But you'll also be asked to pay additional expenses related to your relocation to another country. Or you'll have to buy job-related tutorials that will be supposedly paid back on your first paycheck. You will pay them and even come to another country where no one is waiting for you. It’s not just about money - such scammers can be after your personal information! They may demand from you your social security number, bank account information, or even credit card information. Remember that no one can make you pay for anything in advance or demand your personal information.
Hot to avoid the dropped money scam 3:20
A boy comes up to you in the street and says that you've dropped your money. You take the money, thank the boy and go away. Suddenly his "parents" come up to you and claim that you've stolen the boy's money when he just wanted to make a change. Never take money or other items (a wallet or a ring) if they're not yours. If this type of thing has still happened to you, go to any public place with security cameras and call the police.
How not to fall for lottery scam 5:20
You're offered a free lottery ticket in a store. You scratch it and realize that you're a winner. To get your prize, you have to call a phone number provided on the ticket and provide your personal data. A bit later you find out that these 4 minutes of the phone call have cost you a fortune.
How to protect yourself from hungry ATM scam 6:35
You probably know that scammers use special devices that can read your card number. At the same time, a tiny camera records your PIN. Robbers have started putting a piece of tape in the card slot and cards get stuck in there. Crooks just take your card and walk away while you're calling the bank. It's better to withdraw cash at a bank where people work. If an ATM has eaten your card, don't leave and call the bank via the hotline.
How to use free Wi-Fi safely 9:03
Scammers create free networks with the name of the mall or hotel that you might try to connect to first. Sometimes such a network requires your personal data so crooks get access to your personal or bank information and passwords. If you're in a public place, ask the help desk if they have any free Wi-Fi networks. If you really need to access the internet, it's better to go to a cafe or a restaurant and use reputable networks.

    SUMMARY
-Remember that no one can make you pay for anything in advance or demand your personal information. Always check out information about companies as well as their contact details.
-Never take money or other items (a wallet or a ring) if they're not yours. If this type of thing has still happened to you, go to any public place with security cameras and call the police.
-Check the items you want to buy before you take them away and never leave your purchases with strangers.
-Don't take free lottery cards. If you decide to take one and you win, check the information about this lottery on the internet before calling.
-It's better to withdraw cash at a bank where people work.
-Buy a special electronic wallet that offers scam protection. It's called an RFID wallet.
-Try to avoid strangers' offers to try new perfumes on the streets even if they're really interesting.
-If you really need to access the internet, it's better to go to a cafe or a restaurant and use reputable networks instead of using free Wi-Fi.
-Don't open the door if you're not expecting anyone to come over. If the members of a certain organization do come, you should call the company and clarify whether these people work there or not.

I HATE those "try our latest scent" people in the stores. Last time one approached me, I told her "you spray me with that, you're gonna drink the rest of it." She backed off REAL fast. If I want to try a new scent, I will go to the perfume counter, thankyouverymuch!! I have one scent that I love and usually wear that. Some of the other ones smell skunky to me sometimes.

I don't open or stop my car if driving to police officer's until I place a call first to make sure it is a real officer. This too has happened they pretend to be officer's they usually target women. On the one item, where you suggest checking to see if your money is really missing, I must give you a caution: that may backfire, as that ploy has been used in another form. It was the "helpful hawker" ploy from carnival, fair, and street festival venues. A person dressed appropriately for a staff member would call out for people's attention. Then he would advise them pickpockets had been working the area, and they might want to be sure their wallets and valuables had not been stolen.. Naturally, his associates were in the crowd, watching which pockets people used for their property. So even checking your money could expose you to a different form of crime.

The IRS never calls if you are in trouble. They send mail that must be signed for. The police are not going to do collections for the IRS. The authorities do not call before serving a warrant-and they do not call to confirm your address. A phone number that comes up as ‘unknown’ or your own or totally unknown to you-do not answer. Look it up before you call back and apologize if it is legitimate. If you get a call that claims to be your bank or credit card, you have the right to hang up and initiate the call. Look up the number you have and call back. For physical, there is also the “broken camera” scam. You are asked to take a picture and handed (an expensive looking) camera or phone. After you hand it back they claim it is broken and demand compensation...

Someone tells you that your car has an oil leakage from the rear wheel. U get down to check while he distracts you. And other person sneaks from other front door and steals your mobile or wallet or other valuables placed in front.

If you see a poop on your car... check and see if it's from your girlfriend or wife. If so, find her and hug her hard enough to make her poop for you again! If not, then run away, yell for help, and call the police!

      I know right? Seriously?
How about... get one of those doorbell cameras, make sure you're recording and converse with them through a locked door. Tell them, "Smile you're on more than one camera. Leave a card and I might get back with you." Pro tip: robbers don't like to be filmed and security systems with cameras are very affordable now.
Or... if you're strapped for cash buy or make a little sign declaring "smile you're on camera no solicitors." Yell through the door, "No solicitors. Leave a card and leave or I will call the police. Oh and smile you're on camera btw." (Lie)
If anyone knocks on your door and claim it's an emergency and you must let them in tell them, "Oh okay I'll call the police hold tight right there." DON'T let them in. DON'T OPEN THE DOOR. If you feel threatened in your home in anyway by someone on your property or someone claims they need help DON'T be afraid to call 911. Better safe than sorry.
Also if you have a peephole you can use it to take a photo of the person with your phone. It's a little tricky but even a poor photo is better than nothing to hand over to the police. If they are blocking the peephole wearing a hat and trying to hide there face that should be a huge red flag they are not who they claim to be.

Dropped Money: UGH. don't open your wallet to check if it's missing money. That may be what they want so that they can simply grab it or know where you keep your money so that they can pick pocket it later. Also beware that there might be someone trying to pickpocket you while you're distracted by the boy.

Helen was in her hotel room when suddenly there’s a knock on the door.
She opened the door to see a stranger. A stranger said, “I’m sorry, I have mistaken the floors, I thought this was my room.” He then went down the corridor.
The woman went back and phoned security. Why was Helen so suspicious?
