- So…You’re driving along a highway, the weather’s good, and you’re in total control of the car. And suddenly - bam! - another driver comes out of nowhere, cuts you off, and slams the brakes! Naturally, you can't avoid the collision. Sounds like a typical fender bender, but you might be surprised to know that this is one of many scams people try to pull on the road!
Or imagine that you’re slowly creeping along the parking lot looking for a spot with full concentration. But suddenly, a person walking past your car hits the ground, most likely damaging or even breaking off your side view mirror in the process. You get out of the car to see if they’re ok, and the “victim” starts threatening you that they'll call the police... What would you do in this case?

SUMMARY:
- Pay attention to the passengers' behavior. If they move around freely and start pretending to be badly injured only after the police and ambulance arrive, the accident is most likely a scam.
- Never agree to towing services from strangers who conveniently pop up out of nowhere! Not only will this person demand payment for his towing services, but his buddies at the garage may also trick you by saying that your car needs some costly repairs.
- Whatever happens, do not accept any suspicious help. If something like this ever happens to you, just call a friend, relative, or a trusted mechanic to come help you out.
- Don’t be one of the gullible ones! Simply agree to call the police right then and there. Sometimes that alone is enough to send the “victim” running. But even if they suddenly have a change of heart and promise that “everything’s cool, no hard feelings or complaints,” insist that they wait for the police to come and file a report.
- Crooks slow down and wave their hand to signal that they’re letting the driver in. But just as the unsuspecting victim merges into the lane, the good Samaritan speeds up and crashes into their car! The next thing the victim knows, the crook vehemently denies ever letting the other driver over and claims that they just merged right into them!
- By no means should you ever send money to strangers with threats! It’ll only encourage them to keep going. Call the police! Also, try to leave your car only in secured parking lots, and get your alarm system checked regularly by your car’s manufacturer.
- Please remember that people fall victim to these kinds of scams more often than you think. Whether it’s because they want to save time or would prefer to settle a problem on their own without the police or lawyers, it does happen.

A couple of months ago, around 7pm, I drove my SUV about 2 miles down the road from home and then returned. As I returned home about 5 minutes later, I approached a car parked in the road headed the direction I had just come in 5 minutes before. When I drove through earlier, I saw nothing wrong in the area and there was no car there. The guy had what looked like the bumper off the car and he slid it across the road at my oncoming car- speed limit 45mph. I saw it coming at me at a point that I could not avoid it. I kept moving and it skidded all the way across my front end making a big scraping noise across the pavement and an impact noise on the passenger edge of my bumper. I did not stop but kept moving because we were the only two cars on the rural road. I turned around in my driveway just a mile down the road from the incident, thought about what happened and slowly drove back to the location where I this event occurred. In the short time I took to do that, the car and the bumper were both gone and all I saw was some broken glass in the road. My car was not damaged.
Tip on the road: DO NOT HELP OTHER PEOPLE ON THE ROAD EVEN IF THEY ASK YOU TO.

Number 5 happened to my mom when I was little. It was early in the morning and she was taking me and my older brother to daycare and in order to get to the daycare we had to go in a little road and turn around and this old lady let my mom go and my mom went and the darn old lady crashed into us. My mom hit her head my brother banged his head on the cup holder that we left open (it was the type of cup holders that u can fold up) and I got a cut on my leg. When the cops came the old lady was like “blah black bla” and my mom was like “she let me go and then crashed into us” my mom was made bc she lost like an hour of work, the car had a dent now and it could have been worse. Thankfully the cops believed us I think it was bc something like that happened a little while b4 it happened to us
My own grandmother hit my car in the driveway and tried to say I hit her. No one believed her including the insurance company...Lol
Scammers have been known to push a bottle up against the rear tire. Back up and it pops very loudly. They'll also put a plastic bottle under the tire well so it makes a scratching sound when you pull out. In both cases someone is nearby to offer help. They could be working in pairs. These pairs are counting on a woman to leave her car door unlocked. While one is outside"helping" you solve the problem the second is lifting and leaving with her purse.
This is when Dash-cams come in handy... No chance for the scammers

Someone accused my husband of speeding through a parking lot, but he’d gotten him confused with someone else in a small car of the same color. The nice thing about dash cams is that they also show speed 👍🏻

One scam is when someone purposely gets run over by a car (usually in a neighborhood so they don’t get SO hurt) they then call someone to help them and sue you.
This was a real problem in the L A area, especially with semis. Two or three cars in contact with each other via cell phone. AAA had an article on it. It’s an insurance scam. I don’t stop for any of this.
Bottom line: “do not trust anyone”.

I’ve driven at rush hour on a busy weekday afternoon from Downtown L.A. near The Staples Center to my hotel in Hollywood and encountered more courtesy on the road than that of North of Boston Massholes!

Wow. One of the amazing ways to rob any vehicle, which I have heard in my country was to smash the egg on the driving car's windshield. When drivers unconsciously start their wipers the egg spread on the car's screen and nothing could be seen. Then drivers have to stop and it gives a great party to robbers and it takes a very less time when their cars are unlocked or with open windows.

I was once driving home when I saw this young woman she told me to slide down the window, so I did. Then she told me that she had ran away from her house And needed a ride to a hotel. That was very suspicious because I live in a large neighborhood and why would someone run to a neighborhood? So I told her I’ll drop her off I just need to put my bag back home. I went home and didn’t go back to her because I feel suspicious! A few days later I figured ou that even if i let her get in the car she would’ve called the cops and told them that I was kidnapping her!!!!! be very safe everyone ❤️❤️

A known scam here in Bulgaria: if you park on a big supermarket's parking and you're wearing a male/female purse bag, they cut your rear end tyre with a knife. Then when you notice your tyre and start replacing it, you forget your purse somewhere and they steal it. Happened to a friend of mine...

On the repair scams. I had been assisting my uncle in a transmission repair shop. After work ended, I walked right behind it to a gas station. Some older ladies had a newer model car where you filled coolant in the overflow tank. They were looking for the radiator cap to fill like on the older cars. I showed where fill cap was and they asked me to top it off with coolant they purchased. I did and got offered $20 just for that 5-10 minute assist. I declined once, but after the second offer, I agreed. I'm like that, if somebody offers to pay for any assistance I render, I give them a chance to save their money. If they still want to pay, just so I don't seem rude by declining, or offending them by declining a reward, I accept the second time they offer.

There was this really smart trick I heard of. People will crash into people in front of them, and tell officers they slammed breaks to try and scam them.
thanks for all the scams that you told i am aware about this so much and one time it tried to happen with me it came in front and almost hit the car and then thankfully almost because i put my leg on brake when he tried to do that and nobody in the car got hurt but the windows glass was brutally damaged but thanks to bright side that nobody got hurt.
Hi BrightSide I have 2 more points on how to protect yourself relating to your car. The first one is if you see something sticking on your mirror or any part of your car you should ignore it and get in the car and drive off immediately, this is because someone has tried to distract you because if you try to get the sticker off they will try to take your purse or a child. The second point is if you see a regular car with one blue light flashing at you find a safe place to pull over as it may not be a undercover cop. Hope you use these in a new video, Lillia
